Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for controlling the program sequence of a washing or Rinsing liquid in a container carrying household appliance with a turbidity sensor, consisting of light transmitter, optical measuring section and light receiver, in one measuring area are arranged within a liquid-carrying component of the household appliance and with which the turbidity of the washing or rinsing liquid can be measured which the further program flow depending on the output signal of the turbidity sensor is set, as well as a household appliance and a turbidity sensor for implementation of the procedure.
- a turbidity sensor consisting of light transmitter, optical measuring section and light receiver
- the turbidity of the washing or rinsing liquid which is also generally referred to below Liquid is called, can be concluded on its composition and the other Program sequence of the household appliance depends on the condition of the washing or rinsing liquid to be controlled.
- the Proportion of impurities or washing-active substances in the washing or rinsing liquid determined and controlled depending on the washing and / or rinsing process.
- the rinsing process for example, can thus be carried out when the desired washing result is reached be ended with minimal use of rinsing liquid.
- a turbidity sensor is understood to be an arrangement in which a medium is irradiated with light and based on the ratio of transmitted to shining light the turbidity of the medium is determined.
- the light used can be monochromatic or on have a wide range.
- the turbidity measurement can be done with a light source and a light receiver can be reached to which the emitted by the light source Light beam falls after passing through the medium.
- Light transmitters and light receivers can be used be arranged opposite each other in the manner of a light barrier.
- the beam of light can also be deflected by reflection as with a reflex light barrier, so that Light transmitter and light receiver can be freely arranged.
- the route between Light transmitter and light receiver can be chosen arbitrarily and can also by extend the entire liquid container in the household appliance.
- a washing machine with a turbidity sensor is known from EP 393 311 B1 which determine the translucency of the wash liquor and the rinsing liquid can to control the washing and rinsing process.
- To aging or malfunctions Switching off contamination of the turbidity sensor will be at the beginning of the operation Reference values for clear water and air are determined and the relative change in the measured Liquid turbidity in relation to the reference values is used for control. For Choosing the right reference value will determine the presence of liquid with a separate water level sensor determined.
- a washing machine with a turbidity sensor is also known from GB 2 068 419 A, in addition to the turbidity of the liquid, it may also be included in it Air bubbles are used to control the program flow, which in the Liquid has been entered due to the periodic movement of a laundry mover.
- Air bubbles are used to control the program flow, which in the Liquid has been entered due to the periodic movement of a laundry mover.
- the liquid turbidity is measured in operating phases in which the laundry mover stands still and does not introduce any air bubbles into the wash liquor, which will measure its turbidity could influence.
- the turbidity measurement is used to control the rinsing process carried out while the laundry mover is moving, based on the entered Air bubbles to determine the concentration of detergent in the rinsing liquid and the Stop rinsing when the detergent concentration falls below a certain level can.
- washing water or rinsing liquid used in a washing machine after a Washing or rinsing cycle must be removed from the household appliance. This is done in the Usually a pump is used. When pumping there is a risk that this air sucks in and emits annoying slurping noises if there is not enough liquid to Pumping is ready. This can be done, for example, by having all the liquid has been drained or drained, or that the fluid is insufficient Quantity runs into the inlet of the pump. The latter can be particularly important when spinning of laundry happen when less and less washing liquid is spun out of the laundry is, but which must be pumped out. When spinning can turn out to be another Problem arise that by the rotation of a laundry drum in a tub Liquid entrained, thrown against the inner wall of the tub and there forms a water ring that does not run or runs badly and therefore badly can be pumped out.
- the present invention has for its object a method and a household appliance and to create a turbidity sensor of the type mentioned, with which at low Effort controls the pumping or draining of the liquid and in particular the suction of air can be avoided by a pump.
- this object is achieved by a method in which, depending on Components of the output signal of the turbidity sensor pumping or draining the Washing or rinsing liquid is controlled from the container, as well as by a turbidity sensor with a measuring range, which is provided with a surface that the expiration of the Conveying washing or rinsing liquid, or in the direction of flow of the washing or rinsing liquid has a small expansion, and solved a household appliance that a program control device has, which serves the further program flow and the Pumping or draining the washing or rinsing liquid from the container depending to control the output signal of the turbidity sensor.
- the output signal of a turbidity sensor which is used to control a washing and / or Flushing is provided anyway, based on certain ingredients evaluated and in particular the liquid level monitored. Based on this evaluation the pumping or draining process can be controlled accordingly.
- the effort required for this is limited to the implementation of the corresponding Evaluation algorithms in the control device.
- program-controlled household appliances usually with a microprocessor or microcontroller with assigned program memory equipped, the expansion of the control program is particularly easy possible. It is even conceivable to retrofit the invention to control devices, where the control program can be changed. This is for example by Change the control program in an EEPROM memory or a battery-backed one RAM memory or by replacing the memory chip that the control program contains. Since no additional components are required, the invention can thus be realize particularly inexpensive.
- the evaluation of the output signal of the turbidity sensor can be done in different ways respectively.
- the components of the output signal that are used for the evaluation are certain characteristics of the output signal or its course.
- the characteristics can be, for example, the DC component and general spectral components.
- the parts of the output signal can be determined in the time domain or in the frequency domain. It is also conceivable to use the z or Laplace transformation for evaluation.
- the output signal can have at least one stored reference value or a stored range of reference values can be compared. It can for Different media reference values are saved that have a common value or range specify for the turbidity of the respective medium. For example, such Values or ranges for the media clear water, unused washing water, used Wash liquor and air are stored. The distinction is between Air and in general all liquids occurring during operation for pumping or draining control of special interest, so that ranges of reference values also for these two types of media can be stored.
- the reference values can be from Factory stored in the home appliance or determined by the home appliance itself and can be saved, the household appliance these reference values even after a certain Time can update, for example, due to aging or pollution to avoid the turbidity sensor.
- the reference values can be determined at times in which it can be assumed with great certainty that a certain Medium is in the measuring range of the turbidity sensor.
- the evaluation can also take place on the basis of the time course of the output signal.
- the output signal is usually little and only with limited speed change. Any changes in turbidity that may occur within a medium usually result from poor mixing the liquid. However, these changes are usually not particularly pronounced and especially not be abrupt.
- the differences in the output signal for two different media will generally be much more pronounced. On top of that mainly the distinction between air and liquids in general should be made possible and the turbidity difference in these media is usually special will be high.
- a sharp limit when passing through the measuring range of the turbidity sensor causes an abrupt change or a jump in the turbidity signal, as long as the air and the liquid do not have the same turbidity.
- the output signal can be examined for jumps that lead to the passage a sharp boundary between media with different turbidity through the Indicate the measuring range of the turbidity sensor.
- the direction of the jump can also be used to increase security during the evaluation be evaluated with. For example, dirt particles can be found in contaminated wash liquor occur that also jump when passing through the measuring range Generate output signal, which usually increases the turbidity for a short time becomes. In contrast to this, the turbidity will change during the transition from wash liquor to air humiliate. To improve the evaluation, it can also be taken into account whether a change is only temporary, as with a passage through the measuring range Object or dirt particles in the liquid, or whether it lasts longer.
- Pumping or draining can also be dependent on alternating signal components of the output signal can be controlled. This is particularly possible in cases where in the case of a medium, constant brief changes in the turbidity as it flows through through the measuring range of the turbidity sensor due to entrained inclusions occur. These can contain dirt particles, especially in used washing water or be air bubbles that are introduced into the liquid by movement may have been. Such inclusions can be caused by different light transmission and / or a change due to the scattering of the light used for turbidity measurement of the output signal.
- the turbidity sensor is advantageously arranged so that the Main drain path or a secondary drain path of the liquid at least in part through its Measuring range runs through.
- the aforementioned methods for evaluating the output signal can be combined with one another combine to improve the evaluation or to make it more secure.
- Both The output signal can also use methods in which the time profile is evaluated be prepared by analog circuits before being used by a microprocessor, for example or controller with analog / digital converter is evaluated. these can High passes to separate a DC component or differentiators for better detection of jumps or general changes in the signal curve.
- the Liquid from the household appliance can be controlled in different ways. For example it can be determined whether the measuring range of the turbidity sensor is covered by liquid, and depending on this the pumping or draining process can be controlled. In particular, can draining or pumping are stopped as soon as the measuring range is no longer full of liquid is fulfilled, which indicates a drop in the liquid level below the installation location of the turbidity sensor indicates. With such a condition-based control, in cases in which there is no longer any liquid available for pumping or draining, an unnecessary one Avoid prolonging this process and the associated loss of time and energy.
- the pumping or draining process can also only be one certain period of time after the determination that the measuring range of the turbidity sensor is no longer filled with washing or rinsing liquid. Because based on the turbidity sensor signal it can only be determined that the liquid level is below the installation location the turbidity sensor has fallen can in this way by extending the Pumping or draining also a final liquid level that is below the installation height of the Turbidity sensor lies, can be achieved with increased accuracy.
- This period of time can differ in particular according to the liquid volume between the installation location of the turbidity sensor, the liquid level that is aimed at at the end of the pumping or draining process and the speed at which the liquid is pumped out or drained becomes. These values can be stored in the control device. It is especially possible after the liquid level has dropped below the turbidity sensor to continue pumping for a while, this time being such that the time between the Turbidity sensor and the amount of liquid trapped within this time cannot be pumped out completely or an intake of air inside this time is excluded, and then the pump is temporarily switched off. If liquid continues to drain afterwards, the liquid level will rise again.
- the level may also rise above the installation location of the turbidity sensor be determined based on the output signal and the pump immediately or only one certain period of time thereafter be put back into operation, so that by a periodic Operation of the pump the fluid level fluctuates between two levels and one Air intake can be avoided effectively.
- the measuring range of a turbidity sensor for performing the method according to the invention can advantageously be provided with a surface that prevents the drainage of the Washing or rinsing liquid promotes
- a liquid repellent Coating can be used. Narrow channels through capillary action are also conceivable transport the liquid out of the measuring range. In this way it is avoided that after liquid has passed, the light in the turbidity sensor due to stuck drops are broken and a high haze value is measured, though there is already air in the measuring range. Otherwise, you may be stuck Drops are not found that there is no longer any liquid in the measuring range of the turbidity sensor and the pumping or draining is no longer correct to be controlled.
- FIG. 1 shows the lower part of a tub 1 carrying a liquid 7 Household appliances, which in the present case is a washing machine.
- a drain hose 2 is connected to discharge the liquid 7, for example Soapy water or rinsing liquid can be used according to the individual washing method Rinse cycles must be derived.
- the drain hose 2 leads to a Drain pump 3 for pumping the liquid 7 no longer required through a drain pipe 4, to which a line, not shown, connects to a waste water connection.
- the drain hose 2 has a straight section above a bellows, with which he is connected to the tub 1 and which consists of transparent material. On both sides of this transparent section are a light transmitter 5 respectively a light receiver 6 arranged opposite each other.
- the one emitted by the light transmitter 5 Light illuminates the transparent section of the drain hose 2 and that in it Section located medium and falls on the light receiver 6.
- Light transmitter 5 and light receiver 6 together form a turbidity sensor 5, 6, which with a not shown electronic control device is connected.
- the control device evaluates the output signal of the light receiver 6 and determines the light transmission or a turbidity value for the medium in the transparent section of the drain pipe 2.
- the interior of this transparent section thus forms the measuring range of the turbidity sensor 5, 6.
- the medium can, for example, depending on the operating phase of the washing machine Air, wash water, rinsing liquid or clear water. 1 is the one described above Arrangement shown after the pumping process at the end of a pumping process.
- the turbidity value measured for air can very strongly depend on the design of the turbidity sensor 5, 6 used. In particular due to refraction at windows in front of the light transmitter 5 and the light receiver 6, in particular due to the low optical density of air, the measured turbidity value can depend heavily on the arrangement of the windows. The turbidity value measured for air can thus be influenced by the configuration of the turbidity sensor 5, 6.
- the control device of the washing machine monitors the signal curve and compares it with the upper or lower limit of a stored reference range for the turbidity value of wash liquor 7. As long as the measured turbidity value is within this range, it is assumed that wash liquor 7 is still in the tub 1 and the pumping process continues. If the turbidity value leaves the reference range at time t 0 , the control device carries out the comparison on the basis of the reference range for the air turbidity, since according to the program sequence after the washing liquor 7 has been pumped out, air should flow into the turbidity sensor 5, 6.
- the measured turbidity value falls within the reference range for the air turbidity, it is assumed that all of the wash liquor 7 has passed through the turbidity sensor 5, 6 and the pumping-out process ends after a certain time.
- the delay by a certain time serves to achieve a desired final level of the wash liquor 7, which is below the installation location of the turbidity sensor 5, 6.
- FIG. 3 shows the signal curve B under unfavorable measurement conditions, whereby, in contrast to the curve according to FIG. 2, the measured turbidity at time t 0 does not drop to almost zero, but only to a value T 2 above it.
- the reason for this can be aging of the turbidity sensor 5, 6, in which the original light transmission of the components has decreased, contamination due to detergent residues or calcification. As a result, there is a risk that the measured turbidity value no longer falls within the reference range of the air turbidity, even though air is in the measuring range of the turbidity sensor 5, 6.
- the control device can use the occurrence of the jump from T 1 to T 2 , which also leads to a long-lasting change in the measured turbidity, for determining whether all the washing liquor 7 has passed through the turbidity sensor 5, 6.
- the control device can use an alternating signal component D of the turbidity curve, which is shown in FIG. 5.
- the alternating signal component D can be obtained by connecting a high-pass filter and occurs during the pumping-off process as a kind of noise that results from the dirt particles and air bubbles contained in the wash liquor 7 and carried by the measuring range of the turbidity sensor 5, 6. After the time t 0 , when all the washing liquor 7 has passed through the turbidity sensor 5, 6 and there is air therein, no alternating signal components occur. On the basis of this decrease, the control device can determine whether all the washing liquor 7 has passed the turbidity sensor 5, 6. Since the DC component is not taken into account in this type of evaluation, it is insensitive to all influences which affect the measurement of the absolute turbidity value, such as liquid drops in the measuring range or aging or contamination of the sensor 5, 6.
