Abstract

The door or window (2) is pivoted by means of an articulation on a frame (3). The intermediate safety device comprises a bed plate (10) fixed in a rabbet (6A) in the door frame. It serves as a strike plate with a coupling finger (14) for a movable part comprising a fixing plate (13) able to be fixed in the rabbet (6B) of the door. The coupling finger is in the shape of a strip (14) curved along a radius of curvature about an axis (16) parallel to and set back from the door pivoting axis. In this way, during closure of the door through its engagement with the strike plate ensures compression of the door against the frame.

Description

The invention relates to an intermediate safety device for door or window comprising at least one mounted sash pivoting by means of articulation means on a frame, this device comprising a sole secured to the frame and serving as a keeper for a latching finger of a movable element secured to the opening.

The present invention will find its application in the field of the building hardware and, more particularly, that of the hinge fittings for door, window or similar.

It is a fact that works such as doors, windows or the like, which are either old or tall, or weakened by small section uprights or materials and equipment, and the opening of which is mounted pivoting on the frame, have certain weaknesses from the point of view of the quality of the seal they provide than their resistance to an attempted break-in.

If we have already been able to respond effectively to these disadvantages in particular by the use of fittings of locking with multiple locking points, this, mainly on the side opposite the hinge axis of these doors or windows, problems arise to guarantee this sealing and improving the mechanical strength during assembly pivoting from the sash to its frame.

Very often, the solutions previously adopted either, were able to make up for the play between the opening and the frame to guarantee the compression of a joint peripheral sealing when closing the door or window, either contributed to some improvement, from from the point of view of their mechanical strength, the opening and the sleeping, especially towards an attempted break-in.

Anyway, these known solutions implement, frequently, complex means necessarily equipped with adjustment means besides that they are not adapted, currently, that at a given pivot mode of the opening by compared to its dormant. In fact, there is, to date, no universally applicable solution that is not complex to because of many technical generating facts.

Thus, by way of example, it is known, in particular by the document FR-A-2.649.439, an intermediate bearing for window or other, comprising a fixed sole made integral with the dormant and provided with a light in which a attachment finger of a movable element secured to the opening. This intermediate bearing includes articulation means adjustable to change perpendicular to the amount of the sleeping the attachment zone between the movable element of the fixed sole.

More specifically, said articulation means are presented in the form of a hinge pin housed in a bore vertical made in the fixed sole. This axis of articulation is located, substantially, on the axis of the pivoting of opening it in relation to the frame. As for the adjustment means, they can be in the form of an eccentric located on the aforementioned articulation axis and whose two positions extremes, obtained by a rotation of 180 °, constitute the amplitude of adjustment of the attachment zone and, by consequently, the amplitude of the compression of the opening against the dormant. In another embodiment the finger hooking is itself of an adjustable nature.

In fact, the very design of such an intermediate bearing requires its installation on the frame, while the movable element comes for example to be fixed on the edge of the cover strip fitted to the rear upright of opening it. Also, if such a bearing addresses the problem of compression of the peripheral seal of a door or window when closing the window on the frame, it is impossible to ensure a real strengthening of the holding mechanics of hinge fittings during an attempt of break-in, for example at the crowbar.

Document DE-U-84 15 163.3 describes a similar solution if it is only the movable element and its hanging finger come, here, to be fixed in rebate of the opening, while the fixed sole is in the form of a housing coming to be housed in a notch practiced on the internal face of the dormant. The fact remains that at the level of this fixed sole intervenes a hinge pin maintained, at level of its ends, in bearings and lying, substantially, on the pivot axis of the opening relative to to its dormant. On this articulation axis is mounted a eccentric which acts on an intermediate device which is, therefore, adjustable perpendicular to the plane of the door or window. On this intermediate device, the hanging finger when closing the door to press this one against the frame.

As for document DE-U-90 10 551.6 it also describes a intermediate bearing attached to the inner surface of the sash and the frame. In fact, the device described here involves, at the mobile element, means attachment capable of pivoting around attachment means associated with the fixed sole made integral with the sleeping.

In the end, it is clear from this state of technical, that priority has been given, so far, to the implementation compression of the sash relative to the frame when close the door or window, using devices making often use complex means of adjustment.

In addition, existing solutions are applicable to a determined mode of pivoting of the sash relative to the sleeping. More specifically, in most cases, the positioning of the parts is closely linked to that of the pivot axis of the door or window.

Ultimately, the bearings and other existing devices had little function of simultaneously increasing the mechanical strength of these pivoting doors or windows with respect to of an attempted break-in.

We know, again, through the English document GB-2.263.128, a security device for door or window comprising a sole, intended to be mounted in rebate on the frame, and provided with lights so arranged perpendicular to the plane of the opening. On the latter is mounted a mobile element adopting the shape of a U-shaped stirrup comprising a bottom, made integral with the rebate of opening it, and presenting, on both sides, a wing extending perpendicular to the plane of the opening for cooperate with the lights of said sole. These wings have, at one of their longitudinal edges, a circular arc cut whose curvature is determined around an axis coincident with the pivot axis of said opening.

In fact, this security device is intended, on the one hand, to prevent the sash from being pushed out of the frame the effect of a thrust exerted perpendicular to said opening and, on the other hand, to remedy a misalignment between said opening and said frame resulting, for example, from attempted break-in or aging. This device is, therefore, designed for a specific and specific use but is in no way capable of ensuring, permanently and during each opening / closing of the opening, the compression of the latter on the frame without causing any irreparable damage to the sole and a blockage of opening it.

The present invention has proposed, specifically, to provide a simple, universal solution, requiring no external intervention because self-adjusting.

To this end, the invention relates to an intermediate device security for door or window, comprising at least one opening pivotally mounted by means of articulation means on a dormant, this device comprising a fixed sole reported in frame rebate and serving as a finger strike for attaching a mobile element comprising a mounting plate fixing suitable for being fixed in the rebate of the opening, characterized by the fact that the catching finger is presented in the form of a curved blade, according to a radius of curvature determined around a substantially parallel axis while being offset from the pivot axis of the sash, by suitably, when closing the door or window and when through its cooperation with the strike of the fixed sole, ensure compression of the sash against the frame.

Insofar as both the element fixing plate movable as the fixed base are fixed in rebate, respectively, of the sash and the frame, their fixing can be accommodated in the very thickness of the profiles composing this opening and this frame so that they offer resistance to tearing, particularly against of a force perpendicular to the plane of the door or window, particularly important.

Note that the fixing plate of the mobile element can receive, if necessary, a fixing shoe capable of taking position in a groove which is usually provided with amounts and crosspieces of these doors or windows when these are designed by metal type profiles or synthetic material. So, such a fixing shoe contributes, advantageously, to increase the rigidity of the profile in which he comes to stay.

Similarly and as it will appear in the figures of the drawing attached, the blade defined by the hanging finger corresponding to the movable element, can not only penetrate in a light that serves as a keeper at the level of the sole fixed, but also in the thickness of the profile making up the sleeping. Thus, as part of a material profile reinforced synthetic, this blade can engage in the metal reinforcement integrated into said profile to improve the attachment it provides.

Ultimately, such a device is capable of ensuring a catching up of a given amplitude, in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the door, window or the like, between the sash and the sash, with great ease whatever the resistance provided by a joint peripheral sealing.

Also, this intermediate safety device, being self-adjusting, can be dispensed with any means of adjustment, necessarily complex, but also able to get out of balance.

It is still a feature of the present invention, as that will become apparent from the following description, namely that the intermediate safety device has characteristics which are independent of the pivoting mode of the opening relative to the frame and give it a certain universality of application. Indeed, the axis of pivoting of the sash can be on the rebate, just like it can be slightly offset from the inside of the door or window to provide some projection outside the frame of the sash, especially when it is provided with a covering strip.

Finally, through their rebate layout, the height of the fixed base, just like that of the plate attachment of the movable element can be arbitrary and, at a fortiori, they can be relatively large, which allows them to significantly improve the mechanical strength of a door or window with respect to an attempted break-in.

The present invention will be better understood on reading the following description relating to the attached drawing in which:

• Figure 1 is a partial schematic representation in section of an opening and the frame of a door, window or the like, this up to the pivot axis of the latter, in this figure being illustrated schematically, the device safety intermediate according to the invention;
• Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, the opening being, here, being closed on the frame, causing the engagement of the latching finger corresponding to the movable element of the intermediate safety device with the sole fixed made integral with the frame;
• Figure 3 shows schematically and in elevation the fixing plate of the movable member;
• FIG. 4 illustrates schematically and in elevation the fixed sole serving as a keeper for the fastening finger fitted to the mobile element.

The present invention relates to a device safety intermediate 1 for door or window of which the opening 2 is pivotally mounted on a sleeping frame 3 using means of articulation which, which may be any, have no not shown in the figures of the attached drawing.

In this regard, in the context of Figures 1 and 2 of these drawings, only the sections 4 and 5 corresponding to this opening 2 and to this sleeping 3 and extending in the immediate vicinity of the axis of pivoting of the door or window, have been shown.

In particular, note that the intermediate device 1, object of the invention, will find its utility whatever the location of this pivot axis, in rebate 6 or apply 7. This last solution corresponds more closely to the embodiment illustrated in the Figures 1 and 2 insofar as the opening 2 is, here, provided a peripheral covering strip 8 intended to come in applies to the internal face 9 of the frame 3. Indeed, in because of such a covering strip 8 it is necessary to project, slightly, this opening 2 outside the frame 3 of so that it does not interfere with the opening of the door, window or the like.

Again, in the absence of such a covering strip 8, this pivot axis could be in rabbet 6 without that this does not call into question the distinctive characteristics of the intermediate safety device 1, object of the invention and which will now be described.

Thus, this device 1 comprises a fixed sole 10 made integral with the rebate 6A of the frame 3 and serving as a keeper for a attachment finger 11 of a movable element 12 which is itself fixed on the opening 2.

In fact, according to the invention, the mobile element 12 comprises, essentially, a fixing plate 13 capable of being fixed in rebate 6B of the opening 2. From this plate of attachment 13 extends the attachment finger 11 which, advantageously, is in the form of a curved blade 14 along a radius of curvature 15 around an axis substantially parallel while being offset from the axis of pivoting of the sash 2 relative to the frame 3.

More specifically, this curved blade 14 which is, according to a mode preferred embodiment of the invention, cut from one longitudinal edges 17 of the fixing plate 13, comes gradually insert when closing the door 2 on the frame 3, in a light 18 serving as a keeper formed in the fixed sole 10 attached to the frame 3. A note, in this regard, that the free end 19 of this blade 14 just like the area around light 18 can be chamfered in order to facilitate the aforementioned commitment.

In addition, the length of this blade 14 can be defined by so as to allow it to extend, widely, beyond the light 18 of the fixed sole 10 in the thickness of the profile 5 corresponding to frame 3. If that leads, without question possible, better grip, therefore better hold mechanical assembly in the event of an attempted break-in crowbar, in the very particular context of a 5-section synthetic material comprising, internally, a profile of reinforcement 20, as illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, this blade 14 can extend through this reinforcing profile 20 which then comprises a light 21 allowing this passage from the blade 14 in line with the light 18 in the fixed sole 10.

It should be observed that if this axis not materialized around from which the blade 14 is bent along a radius of curvature 15, extends substantially parallel to the pivot axis of the opening relative to the frame 3, there persists between them offset determined so as to allow the blade 14, in cooperation with the fixed sole 10 which serves as a keeper, to ensure this compression of the opening 2 against the frame 3, this in a progressive way at the very moment of closing the door, window or the like. In fact, it is precisely because that this offset is necessary that the exact positioning of the pivot axis of the opening is of little importance. This gives this intermediate safety device its character universal in terms of its application, but also its self-tuning property.

To return to the fixing plate 13, it comprises one or more openings 22 for the passage of fixing, such as screws, rivets or the like. Note that from such openings 22 can be defined oblong, to allow some adjustment of this turntable fixing in particular in a direction perpendicular to the plan of the opening and / or to give this plate of fixing the possibility of adapting easily to positioning of the openings for the passage of the fastening or others, in rebate 6B of the opening 2.

It will be observed, in particular, that being arranged in rebate 6B of the opening 2, such a fixing plate 13 does not pose any aesthetic problem. Also, it can be widely dimensioned both in height and in width, this being however limited with respect to the depth 23 of this opening 6B rebate 2.

As shown in Figure 3, such a mounting plate 13 can then have two parallel opening rows 22 intended for the passage of fixing screws or the like. In these conditions, she is able to offer a perfect fit mechanical in case of attempted break-in and therefore tear-off at the crowbar.

It should be noted that a mounting plate 13 of height significant can significantly increase the inertia of profile 4 on which it is fixed.

In this regard, it is usual, in the case of doors or windows designed in metal profiles or synthetic material, the profiles 4 making up the opening 2 comprise, in rebate 6B, a T-shaped groove 24 particularly suitable for accommodating certain parts of a locking fitting. In these conditions, this fixing plate 13 can be fitted with a shoe fixation and consolidation 25 able to extend into this groove 24 and, therefore, of form adjusted to the latter. Such shoe 25, if it extends substantially over the entire height of the fixing plate 13, contributes, not only, better resistance to tearing off the latter, but, in addition, again improves the inertia of the profile 4 corresponding to this opening 2.

It is understood, of course, that if the fixing plate 13 corresponding to the movable element 12 of the intermediate device security can be greatly oversized due to its implantation in rebate 6B of the opening 2, so does even of the blade 14 defining the attachment finger 11 and, of course, the fixed sole 10 made integral with the frame 3.

As appears from the above description, through its particular configuration, the latching finger 11 in the form of a blade 14 has the function:

• to ensure a perfect seal between the opening 2 and the frame 3, in particular by coming to compress the latter one against the other, when the door, window or the like is closed;
• and to improve the mechanical strength of this door, window or the like with regard to an attempted break-in, for example at the crowbar, carried out at the level of the pivot axis of the leaf 2 relative to the frame 3.

However, according to the invention, this fastening finger 11 can also be provided capable of limiting the rebate clearance of the opening 2 relative to the frame 3, this with respect to a movement of this opening 2 in the plane of the door, window or the like, parallel to the pivot axis. This result can be obtained by giving the blade 14 an inclination at an angle α determined relative to the axis of the fixing plate 13, the lumen 18 in the fixed sole 10 also being inclined under these conditions according to a same angle α1, as identified in Figure 4.

It is still possible to obtain better results by having, along the sections 4 and 5 of the opening 2 and the frame 3, two intermediate safety devices 1, the blade 14 corresponding to the movable element 12 of a device safety intermediate 1 being inclined at an angle β substantially symmetrical to the angle of inclination α of the blade 14 corresponding to the movable element 12 of the other device security intermediary 1. Obviously, similarly way, the light 18 in the fixed base 10 will be correspondingly inclined at an angle respectively β1 or α1.

Finally, we realize that such an intermediate device safety device according to the invention is also capable of oppose a displacement in the plane of the opening 2 by relative to the frame 3, displacement caused, for example, by through a crowbar.

As is apparent from the above description, the intermediate safety device 1, according to the invention, although being of simplified configuration, is able to provide a real answer to the problem posed.

Claims (10)

Intermediate security device for door or window, comprising at least one opening (2) pivotally mounted using means of articulation on a frame (3), this device (1) comprising a fixed sole (10) attached to the rebate (6A) of the standing (3) and serving as a strike for a hooking finger (11) a movable element (12) comprising a fixing plate (13) able to be fixed in the rebate (6B) of the opening (2), characterized in that the hooking finger (11) is present in the form of a curved blade (14), along a radius of curvature (15) determined around an axis substantially parallel while being offset from the axis of pivoting of the opening (2), suitably, during the closing of the door or window and through its cooperation with the keeper of the fixed sole (10), to ensure the compression of the sash (2) against the frame (3). Intermediate safety device according to claim 1, characterized in that the curved blade (14) defining the latching finger (11) of the movable element (12) is cut in one of the longitudinal edges (17) of the plate fixing (13). Intermediate safety device according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the fixed sole (10) has a light (18) adjusted for the passage of the blade (14). Intermediate safety device according to claim 3, characterized in that the free end (19) of the blade (14) and the edges of the light (18) in the fixed sole (10) are chamfered to facilitate their engagement. Intermediate safety device according to any one claims 3 and 4, characterized in that the blade (14) has a length allowing it to extend beyond of the light (18) of the fixed sole (10), in the thickness of the profile (5) corresponding to the frame (3), in particular in a reinforcing profile (20) provided for this purpose with a light at the right of the light (18) in the fixed sole (10). Intermediate safety device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the fixing plate (13) of the movable element (12) comprises a or several openings (22) for the passage of fixing, such as screws, rivets or the like. Intermediate safety device according to claim 6, characterized in that the fixing plate (13) comprises two parallel rows of opening (22) intended for the passage of fasteners, such as screws, rivets or analogues. Intermediate safety device according to one of Claims 6 and 7, characterized in that the openings (22) are defined oblong. Intermediate safety device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the fixing plate (13) is provided with a fixing shoe and consolidation (25) able to extend in a groove in (T) (24) in rebate (6B) of the profiles (4) making up the opening (2). Intermediate safety device according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the blade (14) defining the latching finger (11) of the element mobile (12) is inclined at an angle (α; β) determined by relative to the axis of the fixing plate (13), the light (18) in the fixed sole (10) also being inclined according to a same angle (α1; β1), in particular with a view to limiting the play in rebate of the opening (2) relative to the frame (3).
