A fitting (1) for locking a sliding panel (2) of a door, window or the like, comprising a profile (5), a sliding assembly (4) which is movable in relation to the profile (5), a bolt (3) which is integral with the sliding assembly (4) and a device (6) for preventing incorrect operation, said device (6) comprising a sensor finger (7) which is movable and constantly urged towards its extended position by spring means (9), an element forming a stop (11) which is integral with the sensor finger (7) and is designed to cooperate with complementary means of the sliding element (4) in such a way that, in the extended position of the sensor finger (7), the element forming the stop (11) prevents sliding of the bolt (3) towards its locked position, without opposing this sliding when the sensor finger (7) is in the retracted position, and a movable component (13) which on the one hand is integral with the sensor finger (7) and on the other hand with the element forming the stop (11), characterized in that the fitting is designed to be introduced through a slot (19) provided on a wall (20) on the inside of the sliding panel (2) and to be fixed on to the edges of the slot (19), and in that it comprises a casing forming a slide (12), which extends substantially in transverse direction (8) of the profile (5), which has means designed to cooperate with complementary means which are integral with the profile (5) for fixing the casing (12) to the profile (5), and inside which the movable component (13) of the device (6) for preventing incorrect operation is mounted in a sliding fashion in transverse direction (8) of the profile (5) against the action of the spring means (9) also accommodated inside the casing (12).
  2. Lock fitting according to Claim 1, characterized in that the fitting (1) and said device (6) for preventing incorrect operation are formed in such a way that the sensor finger (7) can equally be mounted on either side of the profile (5).

Lock fitting according to Claim 3, characterized in that, level with a second end wall (39) of the casing (12), the cavity (33) and the slot (37) emerge into an opening (40) designed to permit the introduction of the movable component (13) bearing the element forming the stop (11) into the casing (12).

Lock fitting according to Claim 4, characterized in that, in front of the second end wall (39), the cavity (33) has a peripheral widening-out (41) made in such a way that the inner surface (42) of the second end wall (39) serves as a seating for a spiral (43), with widened end, of a coil spring (9) introduced into the cavity (33) between the movable component (13) and said second end wall (39).
  6. Lock fitting according to one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the means for fixing the casing to the profile are clipping means.
  7. Lock fitting according to one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that it includes a support (14) which is fixed to the profile (5) and has a seating (15) designed to receive the casing (12).

Lock fitting according to Claim 7, characterized in that, in the vicinity of its first end wall (35), the casing (12) has means forming a stop (44) designed to engage with the support (14), and, in the vicinity of its second end wall (39), it has spring means (45) designed to clip on to corresponding means of the support (14).

Lock fitting according to Claim 8, characterized in that, in the vicinity of its second end wall (39), the casing (12) has at least one flexible flange (46) having a catch (47) projecting towards the outside of the casing (12), and in that the flange (46) is sufficiently flexible to allow the casing to be inserted by its end (39) into the seating (15), the catch (47) clipping on to the outer edge of the seating (15) as soon as it has emerged from this.

Lock fitting according to Claim 9 and Claim 2, characterized in that the seating (15) has at each end in said transverse direction (8) two diametrically opposite recesses (48), and in that the casing (12) has, level with its first end wall (35), two diametrically opposite lugs (49) and, level with its second end wall (39), two diametrically opposite catches (47) each carried by a flange (46), the lugs (49) and catches (47) being designed to be received in the recesses (48) of one or other of the ends of the support (14).

Lock fitting according to one of Claims 7 to 10, characterized in that the support (14) of the seating (15) is integral with the body (16) of a fixing component (17) designed to engage, on the one hand, with the profile (5), on the other hand, with a transverse edge (18) of a slot (19) made on an internal wall (20) of the sliding panel (2), for the clipping of said profile (5) on to the edges of said slot (19), and in particular is integral with a middle part (21) of said body (16) projecting between the two longitudinal edges (22, 23) of the profile (5).
  12. Lock fitting according to Claim 11, characterized in that the support (14) comprises two flanges (14c, 14d) respectively extending one towards the other in longitudinal direction (24) of the profile (5) and delimiting between them a transverse slot (14e) in which the element forming the stop (11) can slide.
  13. Lock fitting according to Claim 12, characterized in that the flanges (14c, 14d) only extend over a middle portion of the support (14), and in that the bolt-carrier (59) has, opposite and level with the flanges (14c, 14d), two arms (65, 66) which extend in the direction (24) on both sides of the flanges (14c, 14d), the component forming the stop (11) being placed in the path of the arm (65) in the extended position of the sensor finger (7), and being between the flanges (14c, 14d) in the retracted position of the sensor finger (7).
