Description

The invention relates to a locking fitting for a sliding window, door or similar opening comprising, in its housing, a slide connected to a hook bolt cooperating with a keeper secured to the frame and held by a locking device having a lever. elastic return lock whose upper end can bear against the lower edge of the hook of the hook bolt condemning the operation of the slide in the locked position when the sliding leaf is released from the frame.

We already know, by patent application EP-A 0 246 172, considered under Art. 54 (3) and (4) of the EPC, a locking fitting, in particular for a sliding window, door or the like opening, comprising in its housing a slide connected to a hook bolt cooperating with a keeper secured to the frame and held in its open position by an elastic return locking device.

This locking device comprises a guide located above the screw for fixing and adjusting the hook bolt and sliding in a housing passing right through the bolt holder secured to the slide. Said guide, subjected to a movement perpendicular to the direction of movement of the slide, serves as a support for a probe.

In the open position, the probe-guide assembly is pushed outwards by an elastic element such that the probe protrudes relative to the edge of the opening and that a boss of the guide cooperates with a plane-stop obtained. by a recess produced in one of the two parallel walls of the housing. By closing the opening, the feeler bears against the strike plate and causes the guide to move towards the rear, which causes the cooperation between the boss of the guide and the abutment plane of the recess of the housing wall to dissolve. Therefore, we fear return the slide to its locked position.

However, this fitting has several drawbacks. Indeed, the fact that the guide slides in a housing produced in the bolt holder of the slide, or the bolt holder is oversized, in particular as regards its thickness, which leads to an increase in the thickness of the housing, and Consequently, the opening, or the elastic return locking device is relatively small, which reduces the reliability of said device. Furthermore, the latter can only be used with a specific bolt holder specially designed.

Also known, from document US-A 4 489 966 having served as a basis for the preamble of claim 1, a locking fitting for opening a window, door or the like pivoting about a vertical axis. This fitting comprises, in its housing, an elastic return slide to give the locking elements an automatic locking position. These locking elements consist of a bolt cooperating with a first strike and a locking rod cooperating with a second strike, the locking elements being secured to the slide and the strikes being secured to the frame. When the opening is closed, these strikes pass through lights made in the housing. There is also a locking device having a locking lever with elastic return. The upper end of the locking lever can bear against the lower edge of the locking rod to keep the fitting in the unlocked position, the point of contact between the upper end of the locking lever and the lower edge of the locking rod being located above the upper edge of the light allowing the penetration of the corresponding strike in the housing. When closed, this keeper pushes the locking lever and, under the effect of the elastic element connecting the slider to the housing, the fitting automatically goes into the locking position and the locking rod automatically passes through the light produced in the corresponding keeper.

However, this fitting has several drawbacks. Indeed, for each opening of the opening, the user is obliged to give the fitting an unlocking position by actuating the fitting. Furthermore, because there is a certain distance between the point of contact of the locking lever - locking rod and the top of the corresponding keeper, the opening of the leaf is possible without the locking lever having positioned under the locking rod and, after opening, the fitting automatically returns to the locking position. Finally, the locking device can only be used for fittings comprising a locking rod.

The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks. The invention, as characterized in claim 1, achieves this objective by providing a locking fitting for window, door or the like opening comprising, in its housing, a slide connected to a hook bolt cooperating with a keeper secured to the frame and held by a locking device having a locking lever with elastic return, the upper end of which can bear against the lower edge of the hook of the hook bolt, preventing the slide from operating towards its locking position with the keeper when the sliding leaf emerges from the frame which is characterized in that the locking fitting is provided for a sliding leaf and in that the locking device comprises a support housed between two wings of a sectional profile in " U "of the sliding sash and the rear face of which comprises a boss engaging in a light made in the background d of the profile by taking support, by its lower shoulder, against the lower edge of this light, the positioning of this support being blocked by means for holding it cooperating with means of complementarity of the sliding leaf.

The advantages obtained thanks to this invention essentially consist in that the locking device is no longer dependent on the thickness of the bolt holder and can therefore be reinforced, which dimi bare its damage and increases its reliability. In addition, being a separate assembly, the locking device can be put in place on existing sliding doors, already provided with a locking fitting.

Furthermore, the realization of the slide and. of the bolt holder is simplified, which also influences their reliability, while making it possible to reduce their cost price. Another advantage is that the locking device is placed under the striker when the sliding door is closed and it becomes impossible to lift the latter. Therefore, the locking device also plays a security role by annihilating any attempt to unhook the sliding door. Finally, it is possible to maneuver the opening at will and the fitting is only put in the locking position after a deliberate maneuver by the user, maneuvering possible only when the opening is in the closed position.

The locking fitting 2 comprises a housing 15 consisting of two walls 16, 17 between which a slide 18 can be moved, which can be actuated by a handle 19 through a light 20 made in the inner plate 8. The slide 18 is integral with a bolt holder 21 serving as a support for a hook bolt 22 disposed perpendicularly to the direction of movement of the slide 18. This hook bolt 22 comprises at least one hook 23 directed downwards. This hook bolt 22, projecting relative to the wall 17 of the housing 15, moves between the two wings 24, 25 of a profile 26 having a section in the shape of a "U" and constituting the edge of the sliding leaf 1. A hole 28 is made in the bottom 27 of this profile 26 allowing the passage and the vertical displacement of the hook bolt 22. The hook bolt 22 cooperates with a keeper 29 integral with the frame 30 and housed between the wings 31, 32 a profile 33 constituting the edge of the frame 30.

This essentially consists of a support 35 provided with holding and positioning means and a locking lever 36.

The support 35 is housed between the two wings 24, 25 of the profile 26 and its width 37 is slightly less than the space 38 located between the internal faces 39, 40 of the two wings 24, 25. The rear face 41 of the support 35, applied against the bottom 27 of the profile 26, has a boss 42 also engaging in the slot 28 formed in said bottom 27 of the profile 26. The lower shoulder 43 of this boss 42 bears against the lower edge 44 of the slot 28 This lower edge 44 of the light 28 constitutes one of the means of complementarity of the sliding opening 1 allowing the positioning of the locking device 34. This lower shoulder 43 of this boss 42 and the lower edge 44 of the light 28 constitute the means positioning the locking device 34. The height 45 of this boss 42 is slightly less than the thickness 46 of the bottom 27 of the profile 26 to prevent the rear face 47 of the boss 42 from hampering the movement slider cement 18.

The rear face 41 is connected to the front face 48 by two inclined walls 49, 50. This front face 48, offset downward relative to the rear face 41, bears against two vertical bosses 51, 52 projecting from the two faces internal 39, 40 of the two wings 24, 25 of the profile 26 in the direction of the median plane 53. The front face 48 has a boss 54 in which a hole 55 is made. A clamping element 56 is engaged in the latter, the truncated tip of which is 57 bears against the bottom 27 of the profile 26. Advantageously, the clamping element 56 is a screw and, consequently, the hole 55 is a tapped hole. The rear face 41 has a clearance 58 so that the clamping element 56 can protrude. Thus, the locking means of the locking device 34 are constituted by the screw 56. In fact, by actuating the latter, there is a tendency to give the support 35 a certain rotation relative to the lower shoulder 43 of the boss 42 so that the rear face 41 of the support 35 is pressed against the bottom 27 of the profile 26 while the front face 48 is pressed against the vertical bosses 51, 52 of the two wings 24, 25 of the profile 26 and that two zones of opposite tightening. Thus, the bottom 27 of the profile 26 and the two vertical bosses 51, 52 of the two wings 24, 25 of the profile 26 constitute other means of complementarity of the sliding leaf 1 making it possible to hold the locking device 34 in its position. Is practiced in the body 59 of the support 35 a vertical groove 60 in which is disposed the locking lever 36. The latter can pivot around an axis 61 whose ends 62, 63 are engaged in orifices 64, 65 made in the faces 66, 67 of the body 59.

The lower end 70 of this return arm 69 has on its external face 71 a stud 72 on which the end is threaded 73 of an elastic element 74, the other end 75 of which is housed in a blind hole 76 produced in the body 59 of the support 35 and opening perpendicularly into the vertical groove 60. This elastic element 74 is in the prestressed position between the bottom 77 of the blind hole 76 and the external face 71 of the return arm 69.

Cette cambrure 83 permet d'escamoter le chant-butée 81 entre les deux ailes 24, 25 du profilé 26 de l'ouvrant coulissant 1.Furthermore, the locking lever 36 has at its upper end 78 a control arm 79 located practically in the extension of the return arm 69. This control arm 79 has at its upper end 80 a stop-song 81 against which is supported the lower edge 82 of the hook 23 of the hook bolt 22. Furthermore, the control arm 79 has a camber 83 located between the edge-stop 81 and the upper end 78 of the locking lever 36. This camber 83 makes it possible to retract the edge-stop 81 between the two wings 24, 25 of the profile 26 of the sliding leaf 1.

In addition, the body 59 of the support 35 narrows towards its vertical edge 84 to facilitate its penetration between the two wings 31, 32 of the section 33 of the frame 30 when the fitting is in the locked position.

The operation is as follows:
  • The opening is considered in the locked position as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. By means of the handle 19, the slide 18 is raised and, consequently, the hook bolt 22. As a result, the hook (23) disengages from the active part 85 of the keeper 29. Then, the sliding opening 1 of the window, door or the like is opened.

During this sliding of the opening, the elastic element 74 expands and acts on the return arm 69 by causing the rotation of the locking lever 36 so that the control arm 79 describes an arc of a circle in the direction in advance of the hands of a watch limited by the contact between the return arm 69 and the rear wall 86 of the vertical groove 60. During this rotation, the edge-stop 81 comes to be placed under the bottom edge 82 of the hook 23 of the hook bolt 22. It therefore becomes impossible to lower the slider 18 and the hook bolt 22 is held opposite the opening 87 of the keeper 29 as seen in FIG. 3.

By closing the sliding sash 1, the front face 88 of the keeper 29 presses on the upper end 80 of the control arm 79 by causing the rotation, in opposite direction of the previous one, of the locking lever 36 until the camber 83 of the control arm 79 is in contact with said front face 88 of the keeper 29. Simultaneously, the return arm 69 describes an arc of a circle and compresses the elastic element 74. The edge-stop 81 being located in the clearance 89 of the hook bolt 22 and the hook 23 being inside the keeper 29, it becomes possible to actuate the slider 18 to bring it to the locking position as shown in FIG. 2. Thus, the device 34 is placed under the keeper 29 and it becomes impossible to lift the sliding leaf 1 after closing and locking.
