It can be seen that the formation of the N-nitrosomorpholine only increases sharply from a pH of 8-9. In the range between 6.0 and 9.0, the formation of NMMO is thus maximized and, at the same time, the formation of the toxic N-nitrosomorpholine is minimized. This applies in particular to the pH range between 7.0 and 9.0.
