Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a disposable infusion striker.
  • An infusion striker consists essentially of a tip and a striker body through which there is a conduit for the flow of infusion fluid.
  • the tip of the striker pierces the elastic cap of the infusion bottle and the striker body is connected to the infusion system which allows the drug substance contained to be introduced slowly and continuously in the infusion bottle in the patient's body.
  • striker is sterile only at first use and other uses, without further sterilization, create the risk of contamination.
  • the striker can therefore first be contaminated at its point, by the stopper, the cap or the substance of the infusion bottle, or then at the level of the body of the striker, by any element of the infusion system or by the patient. himself.
  • Another disadvantage of the prior art infusion striker will now be explained.
  • the tip of the striker is intended to perforate the elastic seal of the stopper of the infusion bottle on the one hand and to guide the medicinal substance towards the infusion system through an internal conduit on the other hand.
  • the tip of the striker will consecutively perforate the cap of a new infusion bottle, be inserted into this bottle and then be removed from this bottle before another use. Multiple perforations dull the beveled end of the striker tip, making it less effective.
  • plastic particles from this wear or rubber resulting from a blunt tip can pass into the internal conduit of the striker and be injected into the patient if no retaining means such as an adequate filter is provided in the system. infusion.
  • the object of the present invention is therefore to provide a disposable infusion striker.
  • a disposable infusion striker constituted by a striker body forming a hollow main part, a longitudinal projection extending said main part and comprising at least one internal conduit, and perforation means of '' an elastic cap of an infusion bottle comprising an internal conduit extending said internal conduit of the longitudinal projection
  • said perforation means consist of a removable part with respect to said longitudinal projection and are connected to said longitudinal projection by temporary fastening means so that, when said perforation means pierce said cover, said means of perforation transmit the puncturing force to said longitudinal projection and when said perforation means and said longitudinal projection pass through said cover, said perforation means remain integral with said longitudinal projection;
  • said perforation means also have at least one extension which can also pass through said cover; said extension and said temporary securing means allow the separation between said perforation means and said longitudinal projection when the striker is removed from the bottle so that said perforation means remain inside the infusion bottle.
  • Figure 1 is an axial sectional view of the striker according to the invention
  • Figure 2 is a partial schematic front view, in the direction II of Figure 1;
  • - Figure 3A is a partial side view of the longitudinal projection of the striker body;
  • - Figure 3B is an axial section of the striker tip along III-III of Figure 4B;
  • FIG. 4A is a schematic front view of the end of the longitudinal projection of the striker body in the direction IVA of Figure 3A;
  • - Figure 4B is a schematic rear view of the tip of the striker in the direction IVB of Figure 3B;
  • Figure 5 is a partial axial sectional view of the striker and the infusion bottle before insertion of the tip of the striker into the stopper of the bottle;
  • Figure 6 is similar to Figure 5 but shows the relative positioning of the striker and the plug after the plug has been fully inserted into the striker;
  • FIG. 1 is similar to Figure 5, but shows the infusion bottle and the striker after they have been separated from each other.
  • the perfusion striker 10 represented in FIG. 1 comprises:
  • a removable hollow point 20 constituting perforation means and formed by a beveled end 22 intended to perforate the elastic seal 46 of the stopper 42 of an infusion bottle 44, as well as of a base 24;
  • a striker body 30 composed of a hollow main part 34, a longitudinal projection 36 extending said main part 34 and an annular side wall 32 extending said main part 34 by at least partially surrounding said longitudinal projection 36.
  • the striker body 30 is cylindrical with a circular section and has a larger external diameter for the side wall 32 than for the main part 34.
  • the internal contour of the side wall 32 is also cylindrical with a circular section and surrounds the longitudinal projection 36, the outer contour is essentially cylindrical with a circular section.
  • the main part 34, the side wall 32 and the longitudinal projection 36 are coaxial and centered around a first longitudinal axis 39.
  • the base 24 of the hollow point 20 is intended for temporary attachment to the longitudinal projection 36 of the striker body 30.
  • said temporary securing means 28, 38 are arranged on said base 24 of the hollow point 20 on the one hand and on a free end of said longitudinal projection 36 of the striker body 30 on the other hand.
  • said temporary securing means consist of a guide system comprising a first slide 38 on the free end of the longitudinal projection 36 and a second slide 28 on said base 24, said second slide 28 constituting the conjugate element of said first slide 38, said first and second slides 28, 38 being intended to cooperate for a reversible positioning of said hollow point 20 on said cylindrical projection 36 of the striker body 30.
  • the profile of said second slide 28 is T-shaped.
  • the first and second slides 28, 38 cooperate in a reversible rectilinear translational movement which allows the guiding in translation of the hollow point 20 relative to the end of the longitudinal projection 36.
  • the first slide 38 consists of two longitudinal grooves, arranged symmetrically with respect to each other, at the periphery of the longitudinal projection 36. The interior walls of these grooves prevent any rotational movement of the hollow point 20 relative to the longitudinal projection 36.
  • the second slide 28 has an internal contour which is the conjugate of the external contour of said first slide 38, in particular by virtue of two longitudinal projections symmetrical with respect to one another according to a vertical longitudinal plane of symmetry or median plane 12 which defines also a plane of orthogonal symmetry for the entire striker 10.
  • the longitudinal projection 36 is cylindrical, of circular section, except at its free end where the first slide 38 is located.
  • a removable tip 20 is produced which must be detached from the striker body 30 when the striker is separated from the infusion bottle.
  • the hollow tip also has an extension 26 which does not interfere with the perforation and then the tip 20 passes through the cap 46 of the infusion bottle 44.
  • the extension 26 is intended to consist of a boss 26 projecting laterally with respect to the external contour of the surface consecutive to said boss 26 and situated in the direction of the main part 34 of the striker body when said perforation means 20 are positioned on the striker body 30 thanks to said temporary securing means 28, 38, so that the cover 46 abuts against said boss 26 when the striker 10 is removed from the bottle 44.
  • the boss 26 is radially projecting from a part of the outer contour of the cylindrical longitudinal projection 36, this part of the outer contour constituting, in the embodiment shown, the surface consecutive to the boss 26 situated in the direction of the main part 34 of the striker body when the tip 20 is connected to the striker body 30.
  • the tip 20 defines a second longitudinal axis 29 parallel to said first longitudinal axis 39 when the tip 20 is connected to the striker body 30.
  • the boss 26 is consecutive to the second slide 28 and constitutes its external extension. As can be seen in FIGS. 2 and 4B, this boss is in the form of a section of hollow half-cylinder with oval section whose longitudinal edges are curved towards the inside of the cylinder and form longitudinal projections of the second slide 28.
  • the free end of the boss 26 is planar and perpendicular to the second longitudinal axis 29 and forms a planar surface on which the rear face of the cap 46 will rest when the striker 10 is separated from the infusion bottle 44.
  • the cap 46 will therefore block the return passage of the hollow point 20, which can easily detach from the striker body 30 thanks to the guide system by slides and fall into the bottle.
  • An infusion bottle 44 containing the liquid to be infused, essentially consists of a bottle, for example made of glass, an elastic cap 46 and a stopper 42.
  • the infusion bottle 44 partially shown in FIGS. 5 to 7 comprises a stopper 42 surrounding the external contour of the neck of the infusion bottle and partially closing the opening of the bottle while leaving accessible the central zone of this opening which will be crossed by the tip 20 of the striker 10.
  • a hollow cylinder of circular section in elastic material covers the inside of the collar perfusion bottle and forms the elastic seal 46 by virtue of a thin wall completely sealing this cylinder and, thereby, constituting the element which closes the perfusion bottle.
  • the front face of this cover 46 is in plan contact with the rear face of the part of the stopper 42 which partially closes the opening of the bottle.
  • the cap 42 has an external contour in the form of a cylinder of revolution, the rear end of which has an edge projecting from the external contour of the glass bottle.
  • the side wall of the striker body is intended to receive the external contour of the stopper 42 of the infusion bottle in order to serve as a support element for the infusion bottle.
  • this side wall 32 must have a certain elasticity and must be able to hold the plug 42 in place so that the latter does not unexpectedly separate from the striker 10.
  • said side wall 32 of the striker body 30 includes regularly spaced longitudinal slots extending over the entire length of said side wall 32; the free end 33 of said side wall 32 comprises, on its internal face, a rib projecting radially so that said rib 43 serves as a stop element for the edge of the rear face of the stopper 42 of the infusion bottle 44 when said plug 42 is fully inserted into said striker body 30 and when said infusion bottle tends to deviate longitudinally from striker 10.
  • the side wall 32 widens thanks to the slots, it surrounds the cap 42 then, when the plug 42 is completely surrounded by the side wall 32, the side wall 32 resumes its original shape and the rib 43 is supported on the rear edge of the plug 42 (FIG. 6) in order to prevent an axial separation between the bottle 44 and striker 10.
  • the contour of the internal face which connects said side wall 32 to said main part 34 of the striker body 30 has a stop. 45 able to cooperate with the upper face of said stopper 42 of the infusion bottle when said stopper 42 is fully inserted into said striker body 30.
  • a favorable solution as regards the manufacturing technique provides that the main part 34 of the striker body has an external contour of revolution around a first longitudinal axis 39; the internal contour 31 of said side wall 32 is a cylinder of revolution having for axis of revolution said first longitudinal axis 39; and, the external contour of said external of said stopper 42 of the infusion bottle 44 is a cylinder of revolution having a diameter less than or equal to the diameter of the internal contour of said side wall 32.
  • the liquid should flow from the infusion bottle through the striker and be guided to the infusion system.
  • This latter aspect will not be described here in detail but is produced by the rear part 40 of the striker body 30, this part 40 carrying means intended to cooperate with the element of the perfusion system which must be connected to the perfusion bottle 44 via the striker 10 such as a tube.
  • This rear part 40 of the striker body 30 incorporates the rear end of a conduit which passes axially right through the striker body 30 and which will guide the flow of the perfusion liquid.
  • This duct is centered around the first longitudinal axis 39 and consists of the internal duct 35 of the main part 34 of the striker body 30 and its extension, namely a first internal duct 37a of the longitudinal projection 36.
  • the main part 34 of the striker body 30 comprises an internal conduit 35 extending said internal conduit 37a, 37b of the projection. longitudinal 36, the end of said internal duct 35 of the main part being closed by a preferred latex septum.
  • This septum may be made of rubber, preferred or not and makes it possible to guarantee the tightness of the assembly formed by the striker 10 according to the invention and the infusion bottle 44.
  • the liquid s flows into the internal conduits 37a and 35 of the striker body 30 and, thanks to the septum, the liquid does not flow any further.
  • the striker 10 is connected to the perfusion system: another hollow point (not shown) will pierce said septum so that the perfusion liquid can spread throughout the perfusion system.
  • the vial of the striker is separated from the striker of the infusion system: the septum being flexible, it closes around its slot and stops the flow of the liquid which has remained in the internal duct 35 of the part main 34 of striker body 30.
  • the hollow point 20 incorporates a conduit 25 centered around the second longitudinal axis 29.
  • the longitudinal projection comprises a second internal conduit 37b which, when the point 20 is positioned on the longitudinal projection 36 of the striker body thanks to the temporary securing means 28, 38, is centered around the second longitudinal axis 29 and is the extension of the internal conduit 25 of the tip 20.
  • This second internal duct 37b can be connected to an air intake on the side of its rear end and it communicates with the internal duct 25 of the tip 20; these last two internal conduits 37b and 25 thus being able to guide the passage of the filtered outside air into the perfusion bottle in order to allow the bottle to empty its contents.
  • the base 24 of the tip 20 must not block the front end of the first internal conduit 37a of the longitudinal projection 36, and, for this, (FIG. 1) the front end of the longitudinal projection 36 is bevelled on the side where opens the first conduit 37a from the longitudinal projection 36.
  • the base 24 of the tip 20 carries a boss 27 whose outer profile is very slightly protruding in the extension of the first inner conduit 37a and whose inner profile is the conjugate of a part of the external profile of the second internal conduit 37b, the second internal conduit 37b extending beyond the first internal conduit 37a.
  • the internal profile of the boss 27 makes it possible to block any transverse translational movement of the tip 20 relative to the longitudinal projection 36 in the transverse direction defined by the median plane 12.
  • the infusion striker 10 according to the invention can be made for example of injection molded plastic.
  • the successive stages of the use of the infusion striker are illustrated in FIGS. 5 to 7.
  • FIG. 5 represents the bottle 44 and the striker 10 before any contact: the central part of the front face of the stopper 42 faces the beveled end of the tip 20 and the longitudinal axis of the bottle 44 is parallel and substantially coincident with the first longitudinal axis 39 of the striker body.
  • the striker 10 is moved along the arrow 13 in FIG. 5, the beveled end 22 of the tip 20 perforates the elastic cap 46 of the bottle 44, the tip 20 and most of the longitudinal projection 36 penetrate into the bottle 44.
  • the plug 42 has been fully inserted into the front part of the striker 10 (FIG. 6)
  • any significant movement of the stopper 42 relative to the striker body 30 is prevented, transversely due to the internal contour 31 of the side wall 32, and axially due to the front and rear stops respectively constituted by the stop 45 and the internal transverse edge of the rib 43.
  • the cover 46 has been split and the edge of the slot has folded to follow the external contour of the longitudinal projection 36. A stable vial-striker assembly is obtained to carry out the perfusion operation.
  • the empty or partially empty perfusion bottle 44 is pulled, in a more or less axial movement according to arrow 14 in FIG. 7.
  • the side wall 32 made elastic by its longitudinal slots, s' widens to allow the plug 42 to pass and, when the edge of the folded slot of the cover 46 comes into contact with the rear transverse flat face of the boss 26, the tip 20 is supported on the cover 46.
  • the cover 46 retains the tip 20 in the bottle and the edge of the slot unfolds to close the cover: the tip 20 is trapped in the infusion bottle 44 and the striker of infusion 10 according to the invention can no longer be reused.
