Definitions
- the anti-panic bar to which the present invention relates is of the type which is fitted across the width of an emergency door and which has a general construction consisting of a horizontal handle or a push bar which is cantilevered at its ends by levers which are rotatable about respective axes which run parallel to the push rod and are installed in respective brackets which are fastened to the door, these brackets as a lock-side bracket and as a hinge-side bracket in accordance with their greater proximity to the striking plate or to the hinge the door are referred to, wherein the lock-side bracket has a rotatable nut with a virtual axis perpendicular to the door and this nut is installed through the mounting plane between the lock-side bracket and the door.
- the axes of rotation of the lever and the nut are not contained in the same transverse horizontal plane in the lock-side holder, but rather extend in different such planes so that a lever arm is arranged between the push rod and the nut can, which causes a gentle and sufficient amplitude and strength actuation.
- the known anti-panic bars either lack the property of reversibility, or this reversibility can only be achieved on the basis of a change in the arrangement of the parts, with the aid of operations which must be carried out by a specialist, which is only acceptable can become because there is no better solution.
- the novel anti-panic bar includes said pushrod, levers, and lock-side and hinge-side brackets, which have the same external configuration.
- the lock-side bracket has an axis for the lever and an axis for the nut, which are perpendicular to each other and coplanar in a plane that is perpendicular to the door.
- This level is also the plane of symmetry of the actual lock-side mounting and a rotary movement path, which is formed by a central section for operational presetting and by respective operating end sections, which have the same extent to one another and which are formed at each end of said central section without interrupting the continuity .
- This operational trajectory is carried out by a cam that is keyed to the axis of the lever of the lock-side bracket, and this cam has an operating part that abuts against one or the other of the first and second drive parts at each end of the central portion of the rotary trajectory can be brought, which start from the respective first and second pivot levers, which are symmetrical with respect to the transverse-horizontal plane of symmetry and which are attached in a floating manner with spring preload.
- this first or second swing lever When the cam performs the rotation corresponding to the operating portions of the rotational trajectory, this first or second swing lever is driven to move from a non-rotated or rest position to another rotated or active position, thereby causing a swing operation movement of a mechanism that does so Opening a mortise or add-on lock causes this actuation to be brought about by the pressure exerted by one or the other of first and second edges, each of which emanates from the first and second pivot levers.
- the lock-side bracket for doors with right or left opening is reversible, with a simple handling, because it is sufficient to pivot the push rod from one end to the other of the central portion of the rotary path, the Presses cams on one or the other of the first and second pivot levers, which cause the intermediate mechanism to be carried along to open the lock.
- the cam has first and second prongs with such a spatial configuration that when this cam with the actuator against one or the other of the first and second drive parts of the first and second pivot levers abut, a corresponding one of the first and second prongs comes to bear against a respective edge of a stop, which is detachable or is inserted into a removable cover which forms part of the lock-side holder.
- the novel formally and functionally symmetrical construction facilitates the achievement of a single construction in which the lock-side bracket and the hinge-side bracket have a configuration with the same shape and external dimensions, both of which have a rectangular, elongated plan in the vertical direction of the door and the overall width within the width lies, which is standardized for metal profiles, the lock-side bracket and the hinge-side bracket are formed by a frame and said removable cover and the frame has a U-shaped cross section along a horizontal plane perpendicular to the door.
- the resulting construction is therefore also suitable for doors with metal profiles and the like as well as for mortise locks and for add-on locks with a central locking point and additionally for add-on locks with two locking points, namely an upper and a lower locking point.
- the practical embodiment can be simplified to such an extent that the first and second pivot levers are combined into a single double-acting lever or a double lever in which the first and second drive parts are designed such that, when this double lever is in the rest position, these first and second drive parts can be positioned corresponding to the beginning of the corresponding one of the operating sections of the rotary movement path of the actuating part of the cam, the double lever having first and second edges which bear against respective first and second edges can be brought, which are formed in a slider that is displaceable parallel to the height of the door, this slider having third and fourth edges that can be brought to bear against respective third and fourth end faces, in a rotatable holder connected to the nut are formed at an eccentric position with respect to the virtual axis of rotation of this nut.
- the door has in many cases a preprocessing for any right or left assembly such that if one of these types of assembly has been determined, the preprocessing of the unused option remains visible.
- an additional plate is provided in the anti-panic bar for this embodiment, which can be fastened to the frame of the lock-side holder via the outside of the contact wall of this lock-side holder on this door, this additional plate being asymmetrical in the longitudinal direction with respect to a through opening for the called axis is the nut.
- This additional plate has a greater length than the frame of the lock-side bracket, this additional plate has a fastening hole which is formed in the longitudinally extending part which projects over the unit of this lock-side bracket.
- This additional plate can be aligned with the cover of the lock-side holder over its entire circumference with the exception of the part which is affected by the longitudinally extending overhang.
- the auxiliary plate also has openings arranged in a shape and position such that when this longitudinally extending overhang is at any of the two ends of the lock-side bracket, these openings in combination with the fasteners the additional plate itself on the frame of the lock-side bracket and finally cooperate with the door.
- each of the first and second pivot levers has first and second edges which rest in the rest position against respective first and second pins, which are formed in an end part of the bolt, which is arranged inside the lock-side holder, this end part being rotatably installed with respect to a pin, around which the bolt between advanced and retracted positions relative to the lock-side bracket is pivotable.
- the first and second edges can each assume two positions that are displaced relative to one another, which correspond to the non-pivoted position (rest position) or pivoted position (drive position), in which this bolt each assumes its advanced position or lock-closed position or its retracted or lock-open position.
- first and second seats are provided which are formed in a rocker arm which is rotatably fastened with respect to a pivot axis, this rocker arm being rotatable between respective non-pivoted positions (rest position) and pivoted positions (drive positions), which correspond to the projecting position (closed lock) and retracted position (open lock) of the bolt.
- This rocker arm has two paired fifth and sixth edges and two paired seventh and eighth edges, the paired fifth and sixth edges in the said rest position against respective third and fourth end faces that can be brought into contact with the nut firmly connected rotatable bracket are arranged in a position which is eccentric with respect to the virtual axis of rotation of the nut.
- seventh and eighth edges can be brought into abutment against respective fifth and sixth end faces, which are formed decentrally in third and fourth pivoting levers, these third and fourth pivoting levers in the other decentred position forming ninth and tenth edges which form in the Can extend rotational path of an eccentric, which starts from a combination lock cylinder which is driven in rotation by means of a key.
- the opening process takes place from the inside as follows: when the push rod is actuated, the cam causes the corresponding (first or second) pivoting lever to rotate and with its relevant (first or second) edge it drives the (first or second) pin, which in turn causes the bolt to be retracted by rotating it about the pin on which its end part is attached.
- opening options are also provided from the outside via a square which is actuated via a handle, for example a handle, and via a rod which is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a combination lock cylinder which is actuated via a key.
- the opening process via a square causes a rotation of a holder assigned to the nut and then presses the corresponding (third or fourth) of the end faces emanating from the holder of the nut against a respective (fifth or sixth edge of the rocker arm so that it pivots and press its first and second seats on the first and second seats on the first and second pins of the bolt, whereby it is pivoted into its retracted position inside the lock-side bracket.
- the opening by means of a key causes the eccentric of the locking cylinder to press against the corresponding (third or fourth) pivot lever on its respective (ninth or tenth) edge, so that the corresponding (fifth or sixth) end face of this pivot lever is on the corresponding (seventh or eighth) edge of the rocker arm presses, causing it to pivot, with the same result as the opening over the square.
- the eccentric is operated by a rod that passes through the thickness of the door and is rotated by a combination lock cylinder that is attached to the back of a door plate in which the door handle is also held.
- this holder of the nut has diametrically opposite locations on radial first and second lugs, one or the other of which in the vertical direction in a recess with a profile can be accommodated, which is complementary to the first and second radial lugs, this recess is formed in a locking slide which is guided in the vertical direction between unlocked and locked positions.
- a corresponding one of the third and fourth levers is fastened on this locking part, and this locking part has a first or upper edge and a second or lower edge, such that in the unlocked position said upper edge projects tangentially into a rotational movement path of the eccentric, which is opposite to the opening movement path of the lock and in the locking position, while the lower edge can extend in the tangential direction in a rotational movement path of the eccentric, which is in the same direction of the opening movement path and one revolution in front of this opening movement path.
- a vertical leaf spring which rests under pressure against the locking part in such a way that this leaf spring has a first end which is anchored on the frame of the lock-side holder and a second end which forms a convex turn toward the latch member, this convex turn cooperating with one of the first and second slots of the latch member such that the incidence of this convex turn into the first and second slots coincides with the unlocked and locked positions of the latch member.
- each of the first and second pivot levers has one of the first and second edges mentioned, which in the Rest position against respective first and second pins, which emanate from a first or lower and a second or upper rail, these first and second pins slidingly passing through respective radial first and second grooves, which are diametrically opposite in a freely rotatable disk are formed coaxially to the axis of the nut.
- the operational pairs of the first edge and the first pin and the second edge and the second pin are arranged in such a manner that when any one of the first and second levers changes from the non-pivoted position to the pivoted position, there is a mutual approximation of the first and second rails against the elastic return effect of respective return springs.

- the opening process from the inside with the aid of the push rod (3) consists in that the first edge (11b) of the first pivot lever (11) against the first pin (30a) of the first rail (30) presses, which causes it to move out of the lock-side bracket (6).
- the first pin (30a) passes through the first radial slot (32a) of the disc (32), which drives it in rotation and, via the second radial slot (32b), picks up the second pin (31a) of the second rail (31), so that this is also moved out of the lock-side bracket (6).
- first (30) and second rails (31) have first and second oblique slots (30b, 31b) through which third and fourth pins (34a, 35a) pass, which are guided by fifth and sixth levers (34 , 35) which are freely rotatably fastened coaxially to the axis (8a) of the nut (8), the fifth and sixth levers (34, 35) having respective first and second projections (34b, 35b), which each rest against the other against a fourth end face (17b) and one third end face (17a) can be brought, which are formed in a rotatable holder (17) which is fixedly connected to the nut (8).
- the slanting first and second slots (30b, 31b) are oriented so that they pass through the respective third and fourth pins (34a, 35a) as the mutual approach between the first and second rails (30, 31) moves.
- the opening takes place by means of an outer door handle (15) in that when the door handle (50) is actuated, the holder (17) of the nut (8) is rotated and, with its fourth end face (17b), a driving force on the first projection (34b) of the fifth lever (34), whereupon the third pin (34a) of this fifth lever (34) acts on the first oblique slot (30b) of the first rail (30), so that this first rail (30) is operationally displaced and with its first pin (30a) causes the rotation of the disk (32) via the first radial slot (32a).
- This disc (32) takes the second pin (31a) of the second rail (31) with it via its second radial slot (32b), so that it is also shifted during operation.
- a special construction which comprises a jaw (36-37), a jaw slide (41), a drag arm (42), a return spring (43) , a latch (44), a housing (45) and a removable cover (46), wherein the jaw (36-37) consists of a fixed jaw (36) and a releasable jaw (37), which together form an approximately cylindrical form a central passage with variable dimensions and have respective lateral flanges which are connected to one another via respective fastening screws (38).
- This central passageway has a minimum dimension of interference fit with the outside diameter of a rod (39) attached to the corresponding one of the rails (30, 31) and the movable jaw (37) has a third screw (40) which can be screwed through this jaw.
- the jaw carriage (41) is guided in the vertical direction in the housing (45) between a normally projecting position of the bolt (44) and a position of the bolt (44) which is retracted by the action of force against the return spring (43).
- the towing arm (42) is connected to the bolt (44) and can move relative to the clamping jaw carriage (41), this relative movement being limited in accordance with the projecting and retracted positions of the bolt (44).
- the return spring (43) is arranged between the axis of rotation (44a) of the bolt (44) and the drag arm (42), and the housing (45) has a U-shaped cross section with the same width as the lock-side bracket (6).
- the relative movement between the trailing arm (42) and the slide carrier (41) is limited by a wing (42a) of the Tow arm (42) which traverses a slot (41a) of the slide carrier (41) with vertical displaceability.
- the push rod (3) is fastened to the levers (4) (FIGS. 8 and 9) by means of a screw-type spreading device, which consists in the fact that the levers (4) have expandable clamps (53) which are located inside the push rod (3) take up an expanding nut (54), which increases its cross-section starting from the corresponding lever (4), the smallest cross-section of the expanding nut (54) being adapted to the dimension which exists between the tips of the clamps (53) when they are at rest (or not expanded) before attachment.
- the expansion nut (54) is screwed onto an actuating screw (55), the shaft of which is located in the middle of the clamps (53) and the actuating head is on the opposite side of the lever (4).
- the ends of the push rod (3) are inserted into channels (56) of the lever (4), which means that imperfect finishes are covered when the ends of the push rod (3) are cut off.
