Claims (10)

  1. Verfahren zum Erhitzen einer Asphaltoberfläche, umfassend folgende Schritte:
    In einem Brenner (30) eine brennbare, aus einem Brennstoff und
    Sauerstoff bestehende Mischung entzünden, um ein Heißgas zu erzeugen;
    das Heißgas in einen Kanal (170) einleiten, welcher eine oberhalb der Asphaltoberfläche (200) angeordnete Strahlungsfläche (200) besitzt, die eine Anzahl von Öffnungen (210) aufweist;
    und die Dimension der Öffnungen (210) so auswählen, daß das Heißgas:
    i) die Strahlungsfläche (200) erhitzt, um einen Strahlungswärme-Transfer zur Asphaltoberfläche zu erzeugen; und
    11) durch die Öffnungen (210) hindurchtritt, um einen Konvektionswärme-Transfer zur Asphaltoberfläche zu erzeugen;
    wobei die Dimension der Öffnungen (210) so ausgewählt 1st, daß der Strahlungswärme-Transfer von 35% bis 65% des gesamten Wärmetranfers ausmacht und der Rest Konvektionswärme-Transfer ist.
  2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, worin der Strahlungswärme-Transfer von etwa 40% bis etwa 60% des gesamten Wärmetransfers ausmacht und der Rest Konvektionswärme-Transfer ist.
  3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, worin der Kanal (170) in einem Abstand von etwa 2,5 bis 15 cm (etwa 1 bis etwa 6 Inch) oberhalb der Asphaltoberfläche angeordnet 1st.
  4. Verfahren nach einen der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, worin der Kanal (170) eine Anzahl von Ausströmkammern (190) für das Heißgas enthält, die einen Teil der Strahlungsfläche (200) bilden, wobei die Kammern (190) im Abstand voneinander benachbart angeordnet sind und einen Spalt zwischen jedem Paar von benachbarten Kammern (190) definieren.
  5. Verfahren nach Anspruch 4, umfassend als weiteren Schritt:
    Die Größe des Spaltes so auswählen, daß die Geschwindigkeit des umlaufenden Heißgases im Bereich von etwa 20% bis etwa 80% der Geschwindigkeit des durch die Öffnungen (210) in den vielen Heißgas-Ausström-Kammern (190) hindurchtretenden Heißgases liegt.
  6. Vorrichtung zum Erhitzen einer Asphaltoberfläche, enthaltend einen Heißgas erzeugenden Brenner (30), und einen Kanal (170), der einen Einlaß zum Eintritt des Heißgases vom Brenner (30) besitzt und eine mit einer Anzahl von Öffnungen (210) versehene Strahlungsfläche (200), wobei die Öffnungen eine solche Dimension haben, daß das Heißgas:
    i) die Strahlungsfläche (200) erhitzt, um Strahlungswärme-Transfer zur Asphaltoberfläche zu erzeugen; und
    11) durch die Öffnungen (210) hindurchtritt, um Konvektionswärme-Transfer zur Asphaltoberfläche zu erzeugen;
    wobei die Öffnungen (210) solche Dimensionen besitzen, das der Strahlungswärme-Transfer von 35% bis 65% des gesamten Wärmetransfers beträgt und der Rest Konvektionswärme-Transfer 1st.
  7. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 6, worin die vielen Öffnungen (210) so dimensioniert sind, daß der Strahlungswärme-Transfer von etwa 40% bis etwa 60% des gesamten Wärmetransfers beträgt und der Rest Konvektionswärme-Transfer ist.
  8. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 6 oder 7, weiterhin enthaltend Mittel, um den Kanal (170) in einem Abstand von etwa 2,5 bis 15 cm (etwa 1 bis etwa 6 Inch) oberhalb der Asphaltoberfläche anzuordnen.
  9. Vorrichtung nach einem der Ansprüche 6 bis 8, worin der Kanal (170) eine Anzahl von Heißgas-Ausströmkammern (190) enthält, die einen Teil der Strahlungsfläche (200) bilden, wobei die Kammern (190) 1m Abstand voneinander benachbart angeordnet sind und einen Spalt zwischen jedem Paar von benachbarten Kammern (190) definieren.
  10. Vorrichtung nach Anspruch 4, worin der Spalt so bemessen ist, daß die, Geschwindigkeit des umlaufenden Heißgases im Bereich von etwa 20% bis etwa 80% der Geschwindigkeit des durch die Öffnungen (210) in den vielen Heißgas-Ausströmkammern (190) hindurchtretenden Heißgases 11egt.
