Definitions
- the invention relates to the use of liquid compositions as homogeneous electroviscous liquids (EVF).
- EVF electroviscous liquids
- Electroviscous liquids are in the form of dispersions from fine-particle hydrophilic solids to hydrophobic Liquids known for a long time. The Special of these liquids is that their flow behavior and thus their viscosity through application of an electric field change within wide limits can, so that there are extensive and versatile applications surrender. Electroviscous liquids are intended for use especially in the field industrial and vehicle hydraulics, e.g. for machine and engine mounting or damping, for positioning Workpieces, for vehicle level control, vehicle suspension and vehicle damping as well as for torque converters and automatic clutches.
- the material composition of the well-known electroviscose Liquids are very different.
- the electroviscous liquids usually consist of three Components, a disperse phase, the silicates, zeolites, Titanates, semiconductors, polysaccharides or organic Contains polymers, an electrically non-conductive hydrophobic Liquid as a liquid phase and a dispersant.
- DE 35 36 934 A1 describes electroviscous liquids, whose disperse phase contains aluminum silicates, which have a water content of 1-25% by weight and their Atomic ratio Al / Si on the surface between 0.15 and Is 0.80.
- the object of the invention is therefore, homogeneous electroviscous Provide liquids that meet the technical requirements Requirements of a modern industrial hydraulic fluid correspond and not the described Disadvantages but much more a high electroviscose Have an effect.
- liquid compositions as homogeneous electroviscose Liquids, the aluminum salts more organic Contain acids as electroviscous active substance, whereby the aluminum salts of organic acids by conversion of one or more saturated and / or unsaturated monomeric, oligomeric and / or polymeric C3 to C32 carboxylic acid (s) with several carboxyl groups, their anhydrides and / or half-esters, their alcohol component (s) linear or branched, monovalent or multivalued C1 to C12 alcohols and / or their oligomers, with one or more of the following reactive aluminum compound (s) Aluminum alkylene, oxoalkylene, hydroxycarboxylates, oxocarboxylates, oxo alcoholates, alkoxy carboxylates, -oxides and / or -oxihydrates produced are.
- reaction products are aluminum soaps of the polycarboxylic acids, anhydrides or half esters with the active aluminum compounds, where all Valences of aluminum or a part thereof are implemented.
- Component (a) consists of oligomeric, complex aluminum salts based on reaction adducts of polycarboxylic acids or olefin carboxylic acids, their anhydrides, half-esters or oligomers with the active aluminum compounds. Soap formation takes place completely or partially, e.g. by targeted partial hydrolysis, so that hydroxyl soap structures arise.
- Polycarboxylic acids are understood to mean carboxylic acids which by reacting unsaturated carboxylic acids with one another or with olefins.
- oligomers are such Compounds used, consisting of 2 to 10, preferably 2 to 6 units exist.
- component (a) are partial ester / aluminum salt adducts based on alkenylsuccinic anhydrides, in particular N-hexenyl succinic anhydrides, diisobutenyl succinic anhydrides, tetrapropenyl succinic anhydrides, dodecenyl succinic anhydrides and polyisobutenyl succinic anhydrides are given.
- alkenylsuccinic anhydrides in particular N-hexenyl succinic anhydrides, diisobutenyl succinic anhydrides, tetrapropenyl succinic anhydrides, dodecenyl succinic anhydrides and polyisobutenyl succinic anhydrides are given.
- olefin addition products of itaconic, citraconic and mesaconic acid are also suitable.
- copolymers can be unsaturated Carboxylic acids, e.g. the Malein, Fumar, Acryl or the Use methacrylic acid. Also carrying carboxyl groups Polyester based on saturated or aromatic Dicarboxylic acids such as adipic acid or phthalic acid can be used.
- Carboxylic acids e.g. the Malein, Fumar, Acryl or the Use methacrylic acid.
- Polyester based on saturated or aromatic Dicarboxylic acids such as adipic acid or phthalic acid can be used.
- Component (b) includes hydraulic media such as e.g. conventional mineral oil selective raffinates, Hydrocrackates, hydrogenates, poly-alpha-olefins or synthetic esters.
- hydraulic media such as e.g. conventional mineral oil selective raffinates, Hydrocrackates, hydrogenates, poly-alpha-olefins or synthetic esters.
- the viscosity position of these liquids is selected according to the requirements of the end product.
- component (b) are: Spindelölraffinat 6/20, DEA, Hamburg Kin. Vis. at 40 ° C 4.2 mm 2 / s Density at 15 ° C 840 kg / m 3 Solvent raffinate SN 45, DEA, Hamburg Kin. Vis. at 40 ° C 6.5 mm 2 / s Density at 15 ° C 842 kg / m 3 Hydrocrackate VHVI-light, from DEA, Hamburg Kin. Vis. at 40 ° C 30.4 mm 2 / s Density at 15 ° C 854 kg / m 3 Hitec 162, PAO, Ethyl, St. Louis Kin. Vis.
- Component (c) comprises conventional hydraulic additives for optimizing the hydraulic product properties, such as the Wear protection, aging stability, friction behavior, tendency to foam, corrosion protection or cold behavior.
- component (c) examples include Additin RC 3212, Rhein-Chemie, Mannheim 2-ethylhexyl-Zn-dithiophosphate Irganox L 107, from Ciba-geigy, Basel 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol Viscoplex 1-300, Röhm, Darmstadt Polymethacrylate, 70% in neutral raffinate.
- the Submitted olefin carboxylic acid half-ester in dilute form and mixed with the Al carrier component with the rejection of moisture With component (b) the chemical reaction adjusted to the nominal viscosity, accordingly The respective requirements are met with the Component (c) additive.
- the liquids produced in this way show in Voltage field from about 500 V / mm field strength a strongly increasing Viscosity increase with an increase in Field.
- the optimum of responsiveness is in the range of 3-8 kV / mm field strength with an aluminum content of preferably 0.1 to 0.5%.
- the starting viscosity of the EVF can be Range from 15 to 6000 mPA ⁇ s at 40 ° C.
- Example 1 is based on one that is not active Aluminum compound converted polycarboxylic acid. It proved itself to be ineffective.
- a mixture of 10 g of the tetrapropenylsuccinic acid half ester of Example 1, 2.5 g of aluminum oxide hydrate (Disperal (R) , Condea Chemie), 15 g of pelargonic acid and 130 g of naphthenic white oil as hydraulic base oil were heated to 120 ° C. for one hour. It was filtered through a pressure filter at 80-100 ° C. After cooling, the product was examined.
