Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a door lock equipped with a protection device.
  • the object of the present invention is to combat all attempted break-ins, in particular of the piercing or tearing type, of a lock of the type which, to be mortised or to be applied on a door, comprises at least one associated deadbolt to a locking member of said dead bolt, or groove, to block it.
  • protective counter plates are arranged substantially at the level of said bolt and said groove in an attempt to make it impossible to break in such locks.
  • the present invention aims to overcome the above drawbacks by providing a protection device integrated in the lock.
  • a protection device with a groove lock; such a device is intended to offer greater resistance to break-in attempts intended to neutralize the retention of the bolt by the throat, by lifting the throat; the arrangement described in this document, if it is effective, does not protect the groove itself and only prevents it from being able to be lifted after puncturing the lock case; It is the object of the present invention to provide a protection device integrated into the lock and protecting the throat itself.
  • a door lock which lock comprises in a trunk, on the one hand, a deadbolt movable in translation under the action of an operating member of the lock and admitting at least one position of locking where it protrudes from the edge of the door and an unlocking position where it is substantially obliterated with respect to said edge, and, on the other hand, a locking member, or groove, movable transversely with respect to the direction of translation of the bolt and adapted to cooperate with teeth carried by a tail of latch bolt of said bolt, to block said bolt, said groove being associated with elastic means pushing it towards said tail, and cooperating with the operating member for unlocking the bolt, said lock comprising a protection device inside said trunk.
  • the protection device consists of a cage inside which the groove is arranged at least partially, said cage being adapted to guide said bolt and its associated tail as well as said groove.
  • the cage almost completely overlaps the groove, said elastic means being placed inside the cage and disposed between the latter and the groove.
  • the tail of the bolt is provided with an oblong opening
  • the groove is provided with an oblong opening extending orthogonally to the oblong opening, the oblong opening and the oblong opening being traversed by a guide terminal carried by the cage.
  • the cage carries at least one boss intended to be received in an opening of the trunk of the lock.
  • the cage consists of two plates secured by an upper spacer and a lower spacer.
  • the groove consists of two plates secured by two transverse legs and overlaps the tail of the bolt; the elastic means are arranged between the transverse tabs of the groove and a portion of the upper spacer of the cage.
  • the operating member is a barrel and the cage is limited by an edge in the form of an arc of a circle centered on the axis of the barrel rotor when it is mounted in the lock.
  • the lower spacer of the cage extends over a length such that, when the cage is mounted in the lock and the bolt is completely extended in the locked position, no part of the tail of the bolt is in line with the lower spacer.
  • the cage is in two parts or half-cages placed on either side of the groove and assembled by assembly means.
  • the assembly means comprise studs carried by a half-cage cooperating with wells or notches formed in the other half-cage, and transverse axes.
  • each half-cage has a bearing surface for the return springs of the groove.
  • the guide terminal of the bolt and of the groove is carried by a half-cage and its end is received in a circular housing provided in the other half-cage.
  • each half-cage has a transverse appendage hollowed out with a channel for the passage and protection of a barrel retaining screw.
  • the lock comprises a trunk 2 secured to a headrest 3 intended to be arranged on the edge of the door; the chest 2 is made up of two parts, a palaster 2A and a funnel 2B, extending mainly parallel to the door P on which the lock 1 is mounted.
  • a follower 4 mounted to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the plane P of the door and rotatable by a rod of square cross section controlled by a handle (not shown), as is known in itself, the follower being intended to actuate a latch bolt, a part of which projects out of the lock 1 by crossing the headrest 3 thereof.
  • an operating member is mounted transversely which, in the example described, is a barrel 6 completely passing through the door in its thickness.
  • a bit 7 integral with the rotor of the barrel 6 can rotate in a plane parallel to the plane of the door P, its rotation being obtained using a key engaged in said barrel 6.
  • a guide terminal 81 cooperating, on the one hand, with the tail 89 of a deadbolt 25, secured for example by welding with two wings 97, 98 carried by the latter, and, on the other hand, with a groove 82.
  • the guide terminal 81 is engaged in an oblong opening 91 made in the tail 89 of the deadbolt 25 which is mounted in a plane parallel to the plane of the door P while being guided in translation in this plane by the opening of the headrest that 'it crosses and indirectly through the guide terminal 81 as described below.
  • the tail 89 of the deadbolt 25 comprises in its upper part, with respect to FIGS. 1 to 3, located above the oblong opening 91, three teeth 90 delimiting, with the body of the tail 89, three notches of the deadbolt.
  • the tail 89 is also provided, in its lower part located below the oblong opening 91, with a tooth delimiting, with the body of the tail 89, two notches 92-93 intended to cooperate with the bit 7 barrel 6.
  • the tail 89 At its upper part close to the deadbolt 25, the tail 89 has an ear 94 carrying an axis 95; the axis 95 is intended to control, during the movement of the deadbolt 25, the vertical movement of a high rod and a low rod by control levers, such as the lever 33 in FIG. 1.
  • the groove 82 has a general form of plate which can move transversely to the direction of translation of the bolt, in a plane parallel to the plane of the door P; said plate has an oblong opening 83 substantially perpendicular to the oblong opening 91 of the tail 89 of the deadbolt 25, the guide terminal 81 passing through said groove 82 in said oblong opening 83.
  • the groove 82 serves as a locking member; more specifically, the groove is made up (FIG. 3) of two parallel plates 82A, 82B secured, at their upper part, by two transverse tabs 99A, 99B, perpendicular to the plane of the plates 82A, 82B; the plates have the same shape and, in particular, each carry an oblong lumen 83, the two oblong lumens being in line with one another.
  • the spacing of the plates 82A, 82B is such that the groove 82 can overlap the tail 89 of the deadbolt 25; the legs 99A, 99B are able to cooperate with the upper notches of the deadbolt 25 delimited by the teeth 90, in order to block said deadbolt 25, as can be seen in FIG.
  • the groove 82 cooperates, by the upper face of the legs 99A, 99B, with two return springs 87, 88 which push said groove 82 towards the barrel 6, and therefore the legs 99A, 99B towards the notches delimited by the teeth 90 which take place in the housings 84, 85, 86 defined by the legs 99A, 99B and block the deadbolt 25.
  • the guide terminal 81 is carried by a groove protection cage 70.
  • the cage 70 consists of two parallel trays 74, 75 spaced from one another so that the cage 70 has a passage 76 allowing it to overlap the groove 82 which itself overlaps the tail 89 of the bolt 25.
  • the two plates 74, 75 are secured to their upper parts by a spacer 71-73, and to their lower parts by a spacer 79; the portion 73, of the spacer 71-73, and the spacer 79, are close to the edge of the trunk 2 opposite to that which is close to the headrest 3, and are at a distance such that the tail 89 of the deadbolt can slide between them while being guided by them; the portion 71, of the spacer 71-73, is above the barrel 6 and the groove 82, at a distance from the upper part of the teeth 90 so that the springs 87 and 88 are placed between the groove 82 and said portion 71 on which they bear.
  • the wall 78 which borders the spacer 79 on the side of the bolt 25 is in the form of an arc of a circle centered on the axis of the rotor of the barrel 6 and allows the displacement of the bit of the barrel 6; this wall 78 is extended on the edges of each of the plates 74, 75 in the same way, that is to say along an arc of a circle also centered on the axis of the rotor of the barrel 6 and of the same radius as the circle previous; as can be seen in FIG. 1, this arrangement thus allows the bit of the barrel 6 to cooperate, during its rotation, with the edge 72 of the groove 82 and with the tail 89 of the deadbolt 25.
  • Each of the plates 74, 75 carries, on its face facing the internal walls of the trunk 2, a boss 77; in the example shown, Figure 3, the boss 77 is rectangular; the plates 74 and 75, as well as their boss 77, are crossed by a hole 81A intended to receive the guide terminal 81; the plaster 2A and the lock 2B of the lock each have an opening 80 whose cross section is equal, apart from the mounting clearance, to the cross section of the boss 77.
  • the groove 82 is introduced into the cage 70 at the same time as its two springs 87, 88; while pressing the groove 82 against the action of the springs 87, 88, the tail 89 of the deadbolt 25 is introduced into the groove 82 then into the bottom of the cage 70; the guide terminal 81 is then introduced into the holes 81A of the bosses 77, passing through the oblong opening 91 of the tail 89 of the deadbolt and the oblong slots 83 of the groove 82; the ends of the guide terminal 81 are then crimped onto the bosses 77, the guide terminal 81 advantageously being in the form of a hollow rivet; thus assembled, the groove 82 and its springs 87, 88, the bolt 25 and its tail 89, and the cage 70 constitute a sub-assembly; this promotes the management of parts in the lock manufacturing workshop; said sub-assembly is then mounted in the lock 1, being sandwiched between the plaster 2A and the wall 2B, the openings 80 of
  • the guide terminal 81 being in the form of a hollow rivet, it is possible to pass there a fastening screw, for example of a protection attached to the external face of the door.
  • the cage 70 can be made of aluminum, zamak, plastic or more resistant material such as steel, better resistant to drilling and impact.
  • the tail 89 of the bolt 25 and the spacer 79 of the cage 70 extend transversely along a length such that when the bolt 25 is completely extended, through the headrest 3, the tail 89 is no longer in line with the spacer 79: thus, if it happened that a burglar succeeds in removing or destroying the guide terminal 81, the tail 89 is no longer guided and is found to be off-center with respect to the transverse space comprised between the spacer 79 and the portion 73 of the spacer 71-73; it is then impossible to reverse the bolt 25, its tail 89 abutting against elements of the cage 70, in particular the wall 78 of the spacer 79.
  • the lock 10 comprises a trunk 2 secured to a headrest 3 intended to be disposed on the edge of the door; the trunk 2 consists of two parts, a plaster 2A and a plug 2B, extending mainly parallel to the door P on which the lock 10 is mounted.
  • a follower 4 mounted to rotate about an axis perpendicular to the plane of the door P and rotatable by a rod of square cross section controlled by a handle (not shown), as is known in itself, the follower being intended to actuate a latch bolt, a part of which projects out of the lock 10 by crossing the headrest 3 thereof.

  • a first attack generally consists in trying to raise the groove 182, to release the bolt 125, using a tool inserted not only through the trunk 2, but also through the cage 175 which protects the groove 182; we therefore understand that the presence of cage 175 makes this difficult operation; nevertheless, assuming that the tool, for example a screwdriver, allows to exert an upwardly directed force on the groove 182, the latter being made up of two half-grooves 182A, 182B, only the attacked half-groove can be raised; we will assume that the attack took place on the plaster side and that it is the half-groove 182A which will have to be lifted; in this case, it is necessary, in order to be able to lift this half-groove 182A, to cancel beforehand the action of retaining the branch 196A which cooperates with the bit 7 by its stop means 216A, this further complicates the break-in ; of course, this preliminary
  • the invention therefore provides a particularly effective protection device in the event of attack by the groove shafts, while remaining simple.
  • the dimensioning of the elements concerned is such that, when the two half-grooves 182A, 182B are displaced vertically with respect to each other, the balls 186A, 186B leave their housings 185A, 185B, by gravity, thanks to the inclined bottom said housings, such as the bottom 233 shown in FIG. 6, the inclination being such that the lowest part of the bottom of the housing carried by a half-groove is that which adjoins the other half-groove; the movement of the balls 186A, 186B is illustrated by the arrows F in FIG.
  • the balls 186A, 186B are placed in the following manner: the ball 186A came to rest on the wedging surface 198B of the half-groove 182B, and the ball 186B came to rest on the bolt tail 189 between two teeth 190, as can be seen in FIG. 13; as can also be seen in this figure, it is impossible to raise the half-groove 182B, the ball 186A abutting against the abutment surface 325 (visible in FIG. 5) formed on the half-cage 175, said half-cage 175 having been removed in FIG. 13 to facilitate its reading, the abutment range 325 being in line with the line referenced 400 in FIG. 13.
  • the panel 2A and the plug 2B carry on their internal face a condemnation plate, respectively 231 and 232; each plate 231, 232 is located near the headrest 3 in line with the deadbolt 125 in the unlocked position; the two plates 231, 232 are identical; for reasons of simplification, only the wafer 232 will be described, with reference to FIG.
  • the plate 232 is made of deformable metal and has a general shape of E; the two lateral wings 236, 237 and the central tongue 235, in the shape of trapezoids, have their free end situated near the headrest 3; the free ends of the lateral wings 236, 237 are fixed to the stake 2B at 234, for example by welding points; the dimensions of the central tongue 235 and the position of the plate 232 on the plug 2B are such that, when the bolt 125 is in the locking position, the plate 232 is no longer in line with the bolt 125 but is in line with the wings bolt by which the bolt 125 and the bolt tail 189 are assembled, the ends of said wings defining abutment spans 238, 239, see FIGS. 7 and 11, perpendicular to the direction of movement of the bolt 125.
  • the role of the plates 231 and 232 is as follows: during an attempted break-in in the region of the bolt 125 in the vicinity of the headrest 3, for example by drilling or hammering, the break-in plate deforms so that the tongue central 235 extends in the return zone of the bolt 125 towards the unlocked position; in fact, this return is prevented by cooperation of the abutment surfaces 238, 239 with the end edge 240 of the central tongue 235; Figure 11, on which to simplify only the elements concerned by this latching condemnation have been shown, shows the shape of the plate 231 after attempted break-in on the plaster side.
  • a rod locking cam 223 is rotatably mounted around the guide terminal 181, more precisely around a flange 181A which the latter has at its lower part; such a cam 223, better visible in FIGS. 18 and 19, comprises three teeth 224, 225, 226 defining notches intended to cooperate with the bit 7 for the rotary drive of the cam 223 by the latter; on the side substantially diametrically opposite to that on which the teeth 224, 225, 226 are placed, the cam 223 has three notches 227, 228, 229 adapted to receive a notch 399A placed in line with the groove shaft 199A of the half-groove 182A.
  • the lever 133 for controlling the lower rod laterally has a notch 300, better visible in FIG. 20; the notch 300 is defined in particular by an upper edge 301 and a lower edge 302 itself extended by an edge 303 inclined downward according to FIG. 20.
  • FIG. 15 where the locking cam 223 is shown alone mounted on the half-cage 174 around the flange 181A of the guide terminal 181; a recess 179 in the form of an arc of a circle, formed in the half-cage 174, receives the locking pin 222;
  • Figures 16, 17, 21 and 22 are diagrams explaining the lower rod condemnation by the axis 222: in these figures, for reasons of clarification, only the elements affected by this condemnation have been represented, and the groove 182 a been limited to the two groove shafts 199A, 199B shown in section and the half-cage 174 at its guide terminal 181.
  • FIG. 15 where the locking cam 223 is shown alone mounted on the half-cage 174 around the flange 181A of the guide terminal 181; a recess 179 in the form of an arc of a circle, formed in the half-cage 174, receives the locking pin 222;
  • Figures 16, 17, 21 and 22 are diagrams explaining the lower rod condemnation by the
  • these elements are in the position they occupy when the lock is not locked: the bolt 125 is fully retracted, the groove shafts 199A, 199B are in the notches defined between the teeth 190 of the bolt tail 189, the groove shaft 199A is also in the notch 227 of the cam 223, and the lever 133 of the bottom rod is in its highest position.
  • FIG. 21 shows the position of the elements while the lock is not fully locked, the bit 7 having made only one tower ; in this position, the groove shaft 199A is in the notch 228 of the cam 223, the axis 222 of which has not yet been introduced in the notch 300 of the lever 133: the inclined edge 303 of the notch 300 gives the latter a form of cut-out facilitating, in the subsequent phases, the introduction of the axis 222 into the notch 300.
  • the boss 277B of the half-cage 175 has a depression 260 such that inclined faces 261 are formed, connecting, on the one hand, along a horizontal edge 262 and, from on the other hand, along two vertical edges 263 and 264; the vertical edges 263 and 264 are in line with each of the centers of the groove shafts 199A, 199B, while the inclined faces 261 connecting along the horizontal edge 262 cover the groove shafts 199A, 199B and the teeth 190 of the tail of bolt 189; thanks to this arrangement, during an attack by drilling the sensitive zone of the lock, constituted here by the teeth of the bolt and the groove shafts, the drilling forest is deflected by the inclined faces 261 and the hole is drilled out of said sensitive area.
  • the boss 277A of the half-cage 174 is shaped in the same way as that which has just been described in connection with the boss 277B of the half-cage 175.
