Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a railing for attachment to side boundary walls, for example the cheeks of a loggia or a balcony, with fastening supports which are fixedly attached to the side boundary walls and have a receptacle for a cross member extending between the fastening supports attached to the spaced boundary walls.
  • Such a railing is known in the prior art.
  • the well-known railing is used, among other things, for the renovation of balconies, such as those found on buildings made in a very simple panel construction.
  • balcony railings are usually attached to the balcony slab itself, either from the top (US-A-2 654 579), from the front or, in preferred variants, from the underside of the slabs (DE-A-37 02 128.1).
  • balconies especially in relatively simple manufactured apartment buildings in panel construction, where on the one hand the quality of the concrete leaves something to be desired, and on the other hand the thickness of the cantilever panels (ie the panels that form the balcony floor) is too low as that if the railing were exclusively attached to this plate, the applicable safety standards would have to be met.
  • the balconies have often been made as loggias, i.e. they also have side walls, so-called cheeks, and are also covered if there is another balcony above.
  • the crossbeam consists of a frame made of steel profiles with at least two spars and with struts that are welded together to form a solid construction, the two spars lying one above the other being each attached to side mounting brackets (GB-C -1 420 410).
  • Solid concrete slabs or other more or less heavy cladding slabs can then in turn be mounted on this frame construction, which on the whole also correspond to the conventional concrete slabs which served as parapets or cladding for such slab constructions.
  • the present invention is based on the object of creating a railing construction which is lighter, quicker and easier to assemble and, if possible, also offers price advantages.
  • this object is achieved in that only a cross member is provided as the supporting element, which extends in the form of a spar in the upper region of the railing between the fastening supports.
  • the spar is essentially designed as a rectangular profile that is open at the top.
  • the rectangular profile that is open at the top combines sufficient stability with a variety of uses for other purposes (water channel, holder for additional elements, etc.
  • this load-bearing spar is designed simultaneously as a handrail and / or a flower box.
  • Balcony railings are very often provided with flower boxes, whereby the massive concrete slabs, which were originally intended as balcony parapets during construction, often contained integrated flower boxes.
  • the upper spar provided according to the invention proves to be a flower box and with simultaneous integrated training / or handrail as particularly advantageous.
  • the spar is a profile part, which is preferably produced as an aluminum extrusion.
  • profile parts can be comparatively inexpensive to manufacture in largely any lengths and large numbers and only need a suitable length for the intended purpose to be cut off and can then be assembled immediately without further complex processing, in contrast to the relatively complex frame manufacture of the known construction.
  • the maximum length that is usually required for known prefabricated buildings is about 6 m.
  • slots which are open at the bottom in at least one of the upper and lower corner regions of the profile are provided for receiving a cover plate or for receiving cladding elements.
  • Corresponding slots are preferably to be provided on all four corner areas so that the cladding elements can optionally be arranged as desired on the profile spar.
  • the two free ends of the legs of the rectangular profile which is open at the top can in turn be designed as preferably closed hollow profiles and thus additionally contribute to the stability and bending strength of the profile spar. It is advisable to design the inner end of the rectangular profile in the form of a hollow profile so that it can serve as a handrail or handle, although one is not limited to the known round tubular shape of handrails on tubular steel railings etc.
  • holding elements for cladding can be mounted hanging on the spar.
  • the description as "hanging on the spar” does not mean that these holding elements could not also be fastened to the base plate or cantilever plate of the balcony or the like, but is only intended to express that no holding loads worth mentioning are supported by such holding elements from the spar and above all, no bending moments are introduced downwards into a cantilever plate or the like and that in particular the assembly is carried out in such a way that the spar is not supported on the cantilever plate via these holding elements and only slightly when loaded.
  • These holding elements are preferably designed as vertical posts or rods and can be fastened with their lower ends to the base plate, preferably to the end face or also to the underside thereof.
  • These holding elements can also be in several parts and, for example, have a head part, for example on the underside of the spar can be fastened and has a hollow pin which extends vertically downward from the head part.
  • the head part is a plate with fastening holes and also preferably has a through hole, which is encompassed by the attached hollow pin.
  • a through hole is also made at the appropriate place so that it can serve from the water drain hole.
  • a suitable post at least formed as a tube, is slipped onto the hollow pin, the lower end of which can then be fastened to the balcony slab in a manner known per se, but without this post introducing significant supporting loads into the balcony slab.
  • cladding elements For the fastening of cladding elements, at least two such holding elements or posts are mounted hanging from the spar, and in addition longitudinal strips can connect a number of such posts to one another, and finally cladding elements in the form of cover plates or the like can be fastened to them by screws.
  • Such cladding elements or cover plates are expediently inserted into one of the downwardly open slots of the rectangular profile, from which the supporting beam is made. It goes without saying that the cladding elements are suitably dimensioned for the slots or vice versa, the slots are adapted to suitable cladding elements.
  • the fastening supports to be attached laterally to the cheeks or boundary walls consist of a plate part to be fastened to the cheeks, which carries at its front end a laterally extending, box-shaped extension, the internal dimensions of this box-shaped extension preferably reflecting the outer dimensions of the Rectangular profile trained spars are adapted so that one end of the spar can be accommodated in this box-shaped approach.
  • the depth of such a box-shaped extension, preferably open at the top, and the length of the spar are dimensioned such that the spar has sufficient space for thermal expansion or contraction and is always held securely in the box-shaped extension.
  • the end faces of a spar designed as a hollow profile are preferably closed by plastic plates or the like.
  • the plate part of the mounting bracket has mounting holes for the passage of mounting bolts, the mounting holes preferably having a significantly larger diameter than the mounting bolts and the seat for a head of the mounting bolts is correspondingly larger than the head diameter.
  • the holes can also be one have an elongated or elliptical cross-section.
  • FIG. 1 one can see a right mounting bracket 1 and a left mounting bracket 1 'as well as a profile bar 10 which extends between the two mounting brackets 1, 1' and is shown shortened by an interruption cut.
  • the mounting brackets can be steel or aluminum plates, which are at their front ends wear an inward-facing, box-shaped extension 2, the shape and dimensions of which are matched to the outer spar profile, which need not necessarily be rectangular.
  • Each of the fastening supports 1, 1 ' has, in the example shown 3, fastening bores designed as longitudinal holes, it being understood that two or more rows of such fastening holes can also be arranged one above the other in the fastening supports, and in addition at least that in Area of the box-shaped extension 2 located mounting hole can optionally be closed by a plastic plug or the like.
  • the lower corner areas of the box section 10 have two slots 18, 19 which are open at the bottom, the box-shaped extension 2 in this area each having two blocks 8, 9, which fit into the slots 18, 19 when the ends of the spar profile 10 are inserted or inserted into this box-shaped extension (see also FIG. 8).
  • the open ends of the profile spar 10 are preferably closed by suitably prepared plastic plates.
  • the spar profile 10 itself can easily serve as a flower box, but can alternatively also accommodate flower boxes 23 to be used separately.
  • the profile of the spar 10 can be roughly described as a rectangle open at the top, with a bottom wall 11, an outer wall 12 and an inner wall 13.
  • the corner regions of this rectangular profile are each designed somewhat more elaborately with the formation of slots 16, 17, 18, 19 which are open at the bottom than with a simple rectangular profile.
  • the bottom side or bottom wall 11 is stepped or cranked in the transition region to the outer wall 12 and the inner wall 13, while the outer and inner walls 12 and 13 are each extended downward beyond the connection of the bottom wall 11, so that between the stepped Sections of the bottom wall and the extensions of the outer and inner walls 12, 13 each form the slots 18 and 19, respectively.
  • the lower free end of the outer or inner wall 12, 13 is angled in addition to the interior of the slot and can be pressed onto or into a cladding panel or the like in order to keep the cladding tight and sealed.
  • the upper free ends of the outer wall 12 and also the inner wall 13 are each angled away from the inside of the profile and also provided with additional hollow profiles 14, 15, the inner hollow profile 15 being so large and wide that it can serve as a handrail while that externally attached, closed hollow profile 14 is formed on the free end of the angled outer wall 12 such that both a downwardly open slot 16 immediately outside the outer wall 12 and above the angled section of the outer wall 12 a slot 21 open to the profile interior is obtained , which is formed by a somewhat inwardly projecting part of the closed hollow profile 14.
  • the handrail profile 15 also forms an inwardly projecting part with the formation of a slot 22 which is open towards the inside of the profile, together with the outwardly angled section of the inner wall 13 downwardly open slot 17 for receiving a cladding panel or the like is formed by a short vertical extension on the handrail profile 15 parallel to the inner wall 13 of the profile spar 10.
  • the slot 22 is somewhat deeper than the slot 21 and the width of a cover plate 20 to be inserted is less than the clear distance between the bottom of both slots 21, 22 minus the depth of the slot 21. In this way it is possible to cover plate 20 e.g. to the bottom or near the bottom of the slot 22 so that the opposite end is moved out of the slot 21 and can be folded up.
  • the slot 21 is expediently designed asymmetrically so that the cover plate 20, even if it is already free upwards, still rests on the outwardly angled end of the outer wall 2. As soon as the cover plate 20 is tilted upwards out of the slot 21 and its end lies above the closed hollow profile 14, it can be pulled outwards out of the slot 22 and removed from the profile bar 10.
  • the handrail profile 15, like the opposite closed profile 14, can also be designed so that it projects less towards the interior of the rail, so that when the cover plate 20 is inserted, it can be placed directly on the angled end section of the inner wall 13.
  • Figure 4 shows a multi-part holding element for cladding panels 6, which can optionally be mounted hanging on the bottom wall 11 of the profile spar 10.
  • the holding element consists on the one hand of a head part 30, which in turn consists of a head plate 31 with mounting holes 32 and a through hole 33, to which a hollow pin 34 connects so that it engages around the through hole 33.
  • the hollow pin 34 is designed such that a vertical holding tube 4 can be fitted onto the hollow pin 34, the attached tube or post 4 being fastened to the pin 34 by means known per se, such as bolts, split pins, screws and the like can be.
  • FIG. 5 shows a vertical section through a balcony railing in front of a holding element, the holding element or the tube 4 of the same and a locking plate 6 being shown shortened by an interruption.
  • the profile spar 10 corresponds completely to the profile spar shown in FIG. 2, on the bottom wall 11 of which the head part 30 or the head plate 31 is fastened or screwed by means of screws (not shown).
  • the head part 30 is expediently only attached during the assembly of the bar 10 on the balcony, i.e. after the profile bar 10 has been cut to an appropriate length and after the position of the holding elements 4, 30 on the bar 10 which has been suitably cut to length is fixed.
  • Corresponding fastening bores with thread or for the penetration of fastening bolts can also be made in the base wall 11 of the profile 10 as part of preparatory work if the profile is cut to its final dimension or at least the position of corresponding cuts and also the position of the head part 30 is fixed.
  • a drain hole can also be punched out, drilled or cut from the bottom wall 11, which coincides with the through opening 33 of the head plate 31.
  • the head part 30 is attached to the bottom wall 11 of the profile spar 10 in such a way that the rear end face 31a of the head plate 31 with the inside Side of the slot 18 is approximately aligned.
  • the head plate 31 can also be shifted somewhat in this direction, so that it is in particular also possible by pressing the head plate 31 to press its end face 31a onto a covering plate 6 or another covering element and to press it against the opposite inner edge of the slot 18 and thus hold it there.
  • the extension tube 4 is plugged onto the hollow pin 34 and extends downward to a little above the bottom of a water channel 7 at the front edge of the balcony plate 40. Excess rain or irrigation water, which either gets directly into the open profile 10 or runs through floor openings in the flower box 23, can then through the opening in the bottom wall 11 of the spar 10, the opening 33, the hollow pin 34 and the attached pipe flow down into the water channel 7 and is preferably passed on from there into a downpipe.
  • the cladding panel 6, for example a building decor or fiber cement panel with a thickness between typically 6 and 10 mm, is inserted into the slot 18 from below and can optionally by moving and tightening the head plate 31 already more or less jammed in the slot 18. Furthermore, a through hole is then drilled along the axis 41 through the plate 6, a mounting strip 5, the tube 4, the mounting plate of the water channel 7 into the end face of the concrete plate 40, so that all parts through one in the concrete plate 40 or in one dowels used there screwed bolts together and held on the plate 40.
  • An edge mudguard 42 also covers the upper outer edge of the concrete slab 40 and also covers the free end of the fastening plate of the water channel 7, so that water flowing out of the surface of the concrete slab 40 is safely conducted into the water channel 7 without the plate 40 from the end face drench her.
  • the edge mudguard can also rest in the upper area on the end face of the balcony slab and only be stepped in the lower area in order to reach over the edge of the water channel.
  • a corresponding plastic cover, a paint or the like is usually provided on the upper side of the concrete slab 40, so that no water can penetrate under the edge protective plate 42.
  • the tube 4 and also the plate 6 have no supporting function for the profile spar 4, since the ends of the spar 4 are carried by the fastening supports 1, 1 'and the profile cross-section is calculated in this way that it alone can absorb the vertical loads that may occur during use and are prescribed by test conditions.
  • the posts 4 are omitted or such posts are attached to the inner wall 13 of the profile spar 10, it is also possible to insert cladding panels 6 or the like also on the inside of the spar 10, ie into the slots 19 or 17, as is the case, for example, in FIG. 5 is visible in perspective view from the outside of a balcony without additional holding elements 4, 5, 30 being provided on the outside.
  • the fastening supports 1, 1 ' are attached to the cheeks 50, 51 of the balcony or loggia in such a way that their front ends protrude approximately by the width of the profile spar 10 beyond the front edges of the cheeks 50, 51.
  • the spar 10 is inserted into the box-shaped lugs 2 of the fastening supports 1, 1 'in the manner already described above, the upper edges of the box-shaped lugs 2 engaging in the slots 16, 17 of the bar 10.
  • a cladding panel 6 the length of which corresponds to the clear distance between the box-shaped lugs 2, is inserted either into the slot 17 or into the slot 19 from below and fastened on the end face to the base plate 40 of the balcony by screws 41.
  • the lower edge of the plate 6 can also protrude into a water channel, which, however, is not shown in FIG. 6.
  • FIG. 7 an optical impression is obtained from three stacked balcony or loggia armatures that are constructed in accordance with the present invention.
  • FIG. 8 finally shows a perspective view with a section through a profile spar 10 in the area of one of the box-shaped lugs 2 of a mounting bracket 1.
  • the box-shaped lugs 2 have a depth of at least 20 and at most 100 mm, preferably between 30 and 60 mm.
  • it is cut to a length which is at least 10 mm smaller than the clear distance between the inner surfaces of the fastening supports 1, 1 ', but at the same time is at least 20 to 30 mm larger than the clear distance between the inner edges of the box-shaped lugs 2.
  • the profile spar 10 can be displaced in its longitudinal direction by at least 10 mm or can expand by at least 10 mm in the longitudinal direction, but not even when displaced towards one end can slip out of the opposite box girder, even if it shrinks in the longitudinal direction by up to 10 mm.
  • the mounting brackets can also embrace the balcony cheeks, and e.g. are in the form of a tuning fork, with a box-shaped extension 2 for receiving one end of a spar 10 each from adjacent balconies on each side of the fork shaft projecting beyond the front edge of the cheeks.
  • the bending strength of the spar according to the invention should at least correspond to that of a rectangular profile made of 4 mm thick aluminum and with an overall width of 150 mm and an overall height of 150 mm.
  • the aluminum profile shown as preferred has this wall thickness of 4 mm and the part of the same serving as a flower box has somewhat larger dimensions of approximately 150 to 160 mm in height and 190 mm in width, with the slots 18, 19 additionally being formed by the step formation in the lower ones Corner areas and especially the closed hollow profiles 14, 15 at the upper free ends of the rectangular profile cause additional stiffening and bending strength of the spar 10, so that it meets all requirements for the load bearing capacity of balustrades.
  • such a preferred aluminum spar weighs a maximum of about 70 kg (even only 9.5 kg / m in a prototype) so that it can either be trained by two people or with the help of a simple one Freight elevator, e.g. B. can be pulled up with the help of a rope hoist or with a pulley on the facade of a house.
  • the fiber cement panels or other panels for the cladding provided according to the invention have a relatively low weight, so that all components required for the assembly of the railing according to the invention are used on the facade of a house or through the stairwell or the elevator of the building without the use of lifting cranes or heavy goods lifts the balcony to be renovated can be brought.
  • Fiber cement boards with a thickness of 10 mm weigh about 18kg / m 2
  • building decor boards with a thickness of 8 mm weigh about 12 - 13 kg / m 2
  • the assembly and use of the railing according to the invention is not limited to the renovation of old buildings, particularly in prefabricated construction, but can also be used in a sensible manner on new buildings and for railings in general, that is to say not only on balconies or loggias.
