Definitions

  • the invention relates to an armrest for seating and in particular for office chairs according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Such an armrest is known from EP 0 166 870.
  • this armrest it is provided to arrange the height-adjustable armrest body on a guide column in different positions with respect to the seating furniture so that, for example, the distance between the front edge of the armrest and the front edge of the seat can be variably adjusted.
  • the guide column which is inclined to the vertical, can be mounted together with the armrest body at an angle to the front or back of the seat. In this respect, a complex re-assembly of the guide column on the seating furniture is necessary.
  • the invention has for its object to develop an armrest of the generic type such that a particularly simple reassembly of the armrest is possible, while at the same time locking the armrest in the vertical direction is to be achieved.
  • the armrest can be fastened to the guide column again by simply pulling the armrest body off the guide column and mounting rotated through 180 ° about the axis of symmetry.
  • the reassembly is limited to releasing the engagement of the latching part from the latching recess, pulling the armrest body away from the guide column, rotating the armrest body, plugging it back onto the guide column and establishing the latching connection between the latching part and latching recess.
  • the distance between the front edge of the armrest and the front edge of the seat can be changed very quickly if - as stated in claim 2 - an armrest body with different distances between both ends of the arm support surface from the axis of symmetry is used.
  • an armrest body with different distances between both ends of the arm support surface from the axis of symmetry is used.
  • This is particularly advantageous if the office chair equipped with an armrest according to the invention has different standards in different states full office chairs should be used for the design and dimensioning.
  • Claim 1 thus identifies a simultaneously reversible and height-adjustable armrest, with a single locking device arranged on the armrest body being responsible for fixing the armrest body with respect to the guide column.
  • Claim 3 and the claims 4 to 12 referring to it characterize an embodiment of the armrest relating to an actuating device for the latching part of the locking device on the armrest body.
  • these configurations can be used with particular advantage in the case of the reversible and height-adjustable armrest according to claims 1 and 2.
  • the subject matter of claims 3 to 12 can, however, also be used with an armrest that is only height-adjustable but not reversible, in which the armrest body is guided telescopically by means of a counter-guidance on a vertically extending guide column and the armrest body is a locking device for vertical fixation of the backrest body with respect to the guide column.
  • claim 3 characterizes an advantageous embodiment of an actuating device by means of which the latching part of the locking device on the armrest body can be brought out of engagement with the latching recess on the guide column.
  • This actuating device is characterized by simple and smooth operability.
  • Claim 9 characterizes a structurally simple design of the guide for the locking part in its direction of engagement.
  • Claims 10 and 11 characterize measures by which protection is provided against unintentional removal of the armrest body from the guide column.
  • the armrest is particularly narrow in the longitudinal direction of the armrest.
  • the armrest has an armrest body 1 with a vertically extending, columnar base part 2. From its upper end, a connecting leg 3 protrudes in the longitudinal direction A of the armrest, which merges into the supporting surface leg 4 of the armrest body 1 which runs approximately horizontally in the longitudinal direction A of the armrest. The surface of the support leg 4 forms the arm support surface 5 of the armrest body 1.
  • the contact surface leg 4 merges into a further connecting leg 6 which opens into the base part 2 below half the height thereof.
  • the base part 2 of the armrest body 1 with its vertical wall 7 forms a guide opening 8 which is elongated in the inner cross section and extends over its height, with which the armrest body 1 telescopically on the guide column 9 which has a corresponding elongated outer cross section is guided.
  • the lower end 10 of the guide column 9 is fastened to a holding strut 11 which is designed as a flat iron and which connects the armrest to the seating furniture.
  • the connection area between the guide column 9 and the holding strut 11 is covered by a two-part cover cap 12.
  • the guide column 9 has on each of its two semicircular side surfaces 13, 14 facing away from one another a row of latching recesses 15 arranged at a distance from one another and running in the vertical direction V.
  • a group of three of the recesses 15 lying side by side in a row engages to fix the armrest body 1 in a certain vertical position relative to the guide column 9, a locking part, designed as a bolt 16, of a locking device designated as a whole with 17 on the armrest body 1.
  • the armrest body 1 After releasing the locking engagement of the three locking projections 18 formed on the bolt 16 from the corresponding locking recesses 15, the armrest body 1 as a whole can be pulled off the guide column 9, owing to the symmetrical design of the guide column 9 and the guide opening 8 with respect to the axis of symmetry 19 running in the vertical direction V in an assembly position rotated by 180 ° about the axis of symmetry 19, pushed back onto the guide column 9 and fastened to the guide column 9 in a certain vertical position by means of the bolt 16.
  • the connecting legs 3, 6 and the support surface leg 4 is designed such that the two ends 20, 21 of the arm support surface 5 facing away from one another have different distances a, b from the axis of symmetry 19, can be achieved by rotating the armrest body 1 two different distances between these ends 20, 21 can be achieved from the (not shown) front edge of the seating furniture equipped with the armrest according to the invention.
  • the structure of the locking device 17 is explained in more detail below with reference to FIGS. 2 to 9. It has an actuating device in the form of a slidably mounted transversely to the direction of engagement E of the bolt 16 in the locking recesses 15 on the base part 2 of the armrest body 1
  • Operating slide 22, which is formed in the outer cross section (Fig. 4 and 7) substantially U-shaped.
  • the outer walls 23, 24 forming the U-legs have inwardly projecting guide webs 25, 26 which engage in corresponding guide grooves 27, 28 in the wall 7 of the base part 2.
  • the actuating slide 22 extends from the lower end of the base part 2 into the mouth region of the connecting leg 6 into this base part 2.
  • bearing webs 35, 36 of the actuating slide 22 which are arranged at a distance from one another and are vertical and face in the direction of engagement E.
  • the bearing webs 35, 36 are on their wedge webs 32,33 facing away from the outside via support webs 37,38 with the outer walls 23,24.
  • This bolt 16 is mounted approximately in the opening E of the connecting leg 6 in the base part 2 of the armrest body 1 in a wall opening 41 of the wall 7 of the base part 2 in the engagement direction E. It essentially consists of an elongated, cuboid block 42, which is arranged transversely to the direction of engagement E in the wall opening 41 and carries the locking projections 18 on its front facing in the direction of engagement E. Lateral depressions 43 are provided between the locking projections 18.
  • a plate 45 which extends obliquely to the direction of engagement E, is formed via a central intermediate web 44, the side of which, in the direction of engagement E, flanking the intermediate web 44 has the two wedge surfaces 39, 40 of the bolt 16 forms. 2 to 4 to each other, the intermediate web 44 runs in the gap 34 of the operating slide 22 between its two wedge webs 32, 33.
  • the outside of the plate 45 pointing in the direction of engagement E forms a further wedge surface 46, which cooperates with a wedge surface 47 of a locking wedge 48.
  • This locking wedge 48 is slidably mounted in the interior of the actuating slide 22 between its outer wall 29 and the two bearing webs 35, 36 transversely to the direction of engagement E of the bolt 16.
  • the locking wedge 48 In its vertically upward-facing side, the locking wedge 48 is provided with a blind hole 49, in which a helical compression spring 50, indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 2, rests with one end, the other end of which rests on a bearing projection 51 in a recess 52 of the connecting leg 6 supports.
  • the closing wedge 48 is thus spring-loaded in the closing direction S (FIG. 1) of the actuating slide 22 which runs vertically downward.
  • a vertically extending driver web 53 is provided vertically below the locking wedge 48 on the inside of the outer wall 29 of the actuating slide 22.
  • the actuating slide 22 is also provided with an extension 54 projecting outward from its outer wall 29 forming the U-base, essentially transversely to the vertical direction V, which in turn is approximately U-shaped in the horizontal cross section (FIGS. 3, 5). At its free end, a further guide web 55 is provided, which engages in a corresponding guide groove 56 on the underside of the connecting leg 6 of the armrest body 1.
  • the actuating slide 22 together with its extension 54 forms an actuating element that appears from the outside as an angular part and has a handle surface 57 that can be actuated within easy reach.
  • the guide opening 8 Aligned with the bolt 16 in the vertical direction V, the guide opening 8 has a groove 58 which extends over the entire height of the base part 2 and into which a stop pin 59 arranged at the upper end of the guide column 9 engages.
  • the latter can have an opening in the groove 58
  • Assembly opening 60 at the upper end of the wall 7 of the base part 2 when the armrest body 1 is placed on the guide column 9 are screwed into a corresponding threaded opening 61 on the guide column 9.
  • a corresponding threaded opening 62 is provided at the same height in the opposite side surface 14 of the guide column 9 in order to fix the stop pin there when the armrest body 1 is turned.
  • the lower ends of base part 2 and actuating slide 22, which end at the same height, are surrounded by a common cover cap 63 with a lateral, circumferential collar 64.
  • the cover cap 63 can be latched to the base part 2 and additionally guides the actuating slide 22 in its closing S or opening direction O.
  • the vertically downward-facing surface of the cover cap 63 has an opening 65 through which the guide column 9 passes.
  • the armrest body 1 can be assembled together with the bolt 16, the actuating slide 22, the locking wedge 48 and the helical compression spring 50 as a closed assembly unit, which is then pushed onto the guide column 9 and locked with it.
  • Attached to the outer surfaces of the guide column 9 connecting the side surfaces 13, 14 is a row of numbers 67 running in the vertical direction V, the numbers 0-10 of which can be read individually via a window 66 in the corresponding wall area of the base part 2.
  • the number "0" recognizable from the outside.
  • the mode of operation of the locking device 17 is explained in more detail below.
  • Fig. 2 shows the lowest position of the armrest with respect to the guide column 9, in which the latch 16 engages with its latching projections 18 in the three lowest latching recesses 15 of the row of latching recesses 15 arranged in the side surface 13 of the guide column 9.
  • the engagement is ensured by the closing wedge 48, which is pressed down by the helical compression spring 50 in the closing direction of the actuating slide 22.
  • the wedge surfaces 47, 46 on the locking wedge 48 and bolt 16 act on the latter in the direction of engagement E and fix the latching.
  • the actuating slide 22 is actuated in its vertically upward opening direction O.
  • the driver web 53 takes the locking wedge 48 upward against the action of the helical compression spring 50, as a result of which the wedge connection between the wedge surfaces 46, 47 is released and the bolt 16 is released.
  • the wedge surfaces 30, 31 on the actuating slide 22 come into engagement with the corresponding wedge surfaces 39, 40 on the bolt 16, upon a further displacement of the actuating slide 22 in the opening direction O, thereby moving it against its direction of engagement E.
  • the armrest body 1 can be moved relative to the guide column 9 in the vertical direction to another height position.
  • the actuating slide 22 If the actuating slide 22 is now released, it automatically shifts in its closing direction S due to the action of the helical compression spring 50, as a result of which the engagement between the wedge surfaces 30, 31 on the actuating slide 22 and the wedge surfaces 39, 40 on the bolt 16 is released.
  • the locking wedge 48 acts on the wedge surface 46 of the bolt via its wedge surface 44 and displaces it again in the direction of engagement E, so that the locking engagement between the locking projections 18 and the locking recesses 15 is restored and the armrest body 1 is fixed in a corresponding height position on the guide column 9 .
  • the armrest body 1 A complete pulling of the armrest body 1 is not possible, since at the end of the pulling movement the bolt 16 strikes the stop pin 59. To turn the armrest body 1, the armrest body 1 must therefore be brought into an elevated position after actuation of the actuating slide 22, in which the mounting opening 60 is aligned with the stop pin 59 and this can be screwed out. Then the armrest body 1 can be completely pulled off the guide column 9, rotated through 180 ° about the axis of symmetry 19 and placed back on the guide column 9 in the desired height position. The stop pin 59 is to be screwed into the threaded opening 62 opposite the threaded opening 61 via the mounting opening 60.
