Abstract

PCT No. PCT/EP92/00398 Sec. 371 Date Oct. 21, 1993 Sec. 102(e) Date Oct. 21, 1993 PCT Filed Feb. 26, 1992 PCT Pub. No. WO92/15497 PCT Pub. Date Sep. 17, 1992.The invention concerns a tubular bag packing, for bandage-like materials in particular, consisting of a web of foil whose opposite borders are glued or welded together along a longitudinal seam to form a tube enveloping the material to be packed and which is hermetically sealed at its ends by means of two parallel transverse seams and which exhibits at least one aid to opening, enabling it to be torn open quickly and completely in order to remove the contents, that is characterized in that one longitudinal strip (10) of the web of foil (11) projects loosely beyond the longitudinal seam (5) and that this is formed into comparatively short, continuously recurring longitudinal spaces (A1, A2, A3, etc.) with tear-off tongues (12a, 12b, 12c etc.) between notches for tearing (13a, 13b, 13c etc.) which limit one another.

Description

The invention relates to a tubular bag packaging, in particular for bandage-like goods, consisting of a film web, which is formed by gluing or welding opposite edge areas with a longitudinal seam in the form of a tube enveloping the packaged goods and is sealed at the ends by two parallel transverse seams and is at least one opening aid for has quick and complete opening for the purpose of removing the content.

A tubular bag packaging for pressure-sensitive goods, for example stacked cheese slices, is known from FR-A-2 190 684. A film web made of composite material of polyamide and polyethylene is used for packaging, this forming the inner layer and polyamide the outer layer. The bonding or welding of edge areas of the film web is designed as a longitudinal sealing seam, while the ends are tightly sealed by transverse seams. As an opening aid, an incision is made in the longitudinal seam protruding from it at the end regions of the packaging and crossing with the transverse seams in the region of the inner angle of the seam fin. The notch preferably extends into the intersection of the longitudinal and transverse seams. This results in a tear-open tab at the end of the longitudinal seam, which is used to open the packaging by pulling on this tab along the seam line. A disadvantage for the consumer after the longitudinal seam has been torn off is the difficulty in removing the content because the transverse seams are not open at the same time and the manipulation required for this is cumbersome.

While this difficulty in removing food may still be reasonable and portable, such an opening aid on a packaging for medical goods such as hemostatic bandages etc. would not be acceptable. Furthermore, the notch must be made very precisely, on the one hand, to penetrate deep enough into the crossover area of the longitudinal and transverse seams, but on the other hand not too deep, in order not to endanger the hermetic sealing of the food content. This requires at least one separate operation for automatic packaging, which reduces the packaging speed.

From DE - A - 36 18 765 is a tubular bag packaging for table or bar-shaped goods, for example chocolate products, consisting of a film or paper-like original covering with two parallel seams running parallel to one another by gluing or welding and a longitudinal seam running perpendicular to these transverse seams , which is formed by protruding as a tear tab and also firmly connected by gluing or welding and can be opened by pulling on the tear tab along this seam line. The invention has for its object to provide a tubular bag packaging for table or bar-shaped goods, such as chocolate products, which ensures easy tearing of the longitudinal seam at high packing speed and without damaging the wrapping. As a solution, it is proposed that at least one end edge of the tear-open tab in the area of at least one transverse seam is formed with a recess which at least tangent to the longitudinal seam and is open to the lateral edge. The recess is an approximately semicircular notch formed by punching.
A disadvantage of this tubular bag packaging is the low notch effect and thus inadequate weakening in the crossover area of the transverse and longitudinal seams, which only opens up a limited amount when the package is torn open results. As a result, the applicability of the proposed opening aid is limited and can only be used essentially for sheet-like or bar-shaped goods and tear-resistant packaging material.

From DE-A-39 17 048 a folding pack is known which is made from a single sheet of film and is folded and closed around a good to be packed in such a way that the good is airtightly surrounded by it on all sides. The closure is achieved by gluing the opposite edge regions of the film web, which laterally frame the inner region of the film web. The invention consists in that two opposite edge regions each have at least one non-permanently adhesive region, these regions being present one above the other in the folded state to form a folding pack, and that one of these two edge regions along its circumferential line is partially separated from the other edge region . The adhesive layers are each present between these two areas and the inner area such that the inner area is completely framed on the sides by the adhesive layers.
The cutouts in the adhesive layer are disadvantageous here. There they each weaken the adhesive layer and increase the risk of damage to the media-tight seal. The structural interruption of the adhesive layer is also only suitable for a special adhesive application process with correspondingly complicated means. In contrast to the hot-melt welding process, for example, gluing the edges of the film with a partially interrupted adhesive layer requires a considerably greater amount of technical resources, which is only economically viable if the number of packaging units is very high and the packaging dimensions remain the same.

A package for piece goods is known from CH-A-651 795, which is provided with a longitudinal fin seam, the edge regions of the film web forming the package being connected to one another without protrusion. The longitudinal fin seam has incisions running from the edge to the central area. When the package is torn open, both edge regions of the film web connected along the longitudinal fin seam are grasped, the tearing taking place at least partially along the longitudinal fin seam. Only a partial opening of the package should take place so that when a part of the contents is removed, part of the package is available as protection against dirt on the hands. This pack is unsuitable for the quick and complete removal of bandaged goods.

The invention has for its object to provide a tubular bag packaging of the type mentioned in the preamble of the main claim, which overcomes the aforementioned difficulties and technical limits, is particularly suitable for the packaging of bandage-like goods such as sterile gauze or plaster bandages, thereby controlled opening of the tubular bag in a region between the transverse seams for quick and complete opening and removal of the packaged goods and can be carried out with conventional mechanical packaging and sealing devices at high packing speeds.

This object is achieved in a tubular bag packaging of the type mentioned at the beginning with the invention by an embodiment in accordance with the characterizing part of claim 1. This embodiment results in tear tongues which run transversely to the longitudinal seam between the tear notches in a strip of the film web which projects beyond the longitudinal seam and which is controlled Allow tearing of the tubular bag in an area between the transverse seams. As a result, the tubular bag is roughly divided into two halves, which can then be folded down to remove the contents or can even be completely removed when the contents are completely torn open, so that the contents, for example a bandage, are immediately optimally accessible. Furthermore, the tearing of the tubular bag is ergonomically optimally solved by the formation of the tear tongues, one hand encompassing the tubular bag such that its central region lies approximately between the thumb and gripper finger, the second hand gripping the tear tongue and tearing it out transversely to the longitudinal seam. With this handling, the packaging is opened gently and completely without the packaged goods being crushed or damaged.

Further expedient refinements of the subject matter of the invention are provided in accordance with the features of the subclaims.

1 and 2 show tubular packaging 4, in particular for sanitary goods. They consist of a film web 11, which is formed by gluing or welding opposite edge regions 7, 8 with a longitudinal seam 5 in the form of a tube 21 enveloping the packaged goods 20 and sealed at the ends by two parallel transverse seams 6a, 6b in a media-tight manner.
According to the invention, a longitudinal strip 10 of the film web 11 projects loosely over the longitudinal seam 5 and is at comparatively short, continuously repeating longitudinal distances A1, A2, A3, etc. with tear tabs 12a, 12b, 12c, etc. between delimiting tear notches 13a, 13b, 13c, etc. trained. In order to tear open the tubular bag packaging 4, a tear tongue 13f (FIG. 1) or 13g (FIG. 2) is gripped and torn out between two tear notches 13. First, there must be limited resistance the longitudinal seam 5 are overcome, whereupon there is a tab 15 on the tear tab which tears open the tubular bag, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. In the variant shown in FIG. 2, both longitudinal strips 10a and 10b project beyond the longitudinal seam 5 at both edge regions 7, 8. The longitudinal strip 10a having the tear notches 13 is preferably narrower than the longitudinal strip 10b running parallel to the latter without the tear notches. However, this is not mandatory.
As can be seen from the overview of FIGS. 1 and 2, the tearing notches 13 are incisions extending transversely to the longitudinal strip 10 from its outer edge 14 to at least the longitudinal seam 5. The tear notches 13 can also be V-shaped cutouts. FIG. 3 shows a section of the tubular packaging sleeve 21 which envelops a gauze bandage 20. The film web 11 usually consists of composite material and can have, for example, an inner polyethylene layer 1 suitable for the hot-melt welding process, an intermediate layer, for example aluminum laminate 2, and an outer cover layer 3, for example polyester (FIG. 3).
In FIG. 4 it is shown purely schematically that the longitudinal seam fin 5 emerging from a surface 9 of the packaging 4 is applied to the side of the surface 9 and that the respective outer longitudinal strip 10a is formed with tear notches 13. The longitudinal seam fin 5 is advantageously connected to the surface 9 by an adhesive 16. As a result, the opening behavior is further improved, since the tubular bag 4 can now be opened with the second hand without additional fixing of the tongue 12. Moreover, the opening of the tubular bag 4 is facilitated in that each tear tab 12 has the shape of an approximately rectangular tab and width and / or length dimensions suitable for gripping and tearing each has 10 to 18 mm.

The tubular bag packaging according to the invention is particularly suitable for the hermetically sealed packaging of bandaged goods, it can be opened without problems so that the contents can be removed quickly and without damage, and can be produced in any commercially available tubular bag machine using a simple additional unit, and that at high packaging speeds with conventional packaging machinery. In this respect, the solution according to the invention ideally fulfills the task set out above.
