Im Aufreißbereichanfang ist das Verpackungsmaterial mit einem flächigen Abdeckelement in lösbarer Weise so verklebt, daß das Abdeckelement die Durchstanzung, die eine Öffnung im Verpackungsmaterial darstellt, völlig umschließt und dadurch eine ausreichende Dichtheit der Packung bewirkt. Die Durchstanzung selbst darf dabei nicht mit Klebstoff in Berührung kommen. Zum Aufreißen der Packung wird das Abdeckelement an seinem nicht mit Klebstoff versehenen Randbereich angefaßt und von der Durchstanzung ausgehend, den Schwächungslinien folgend, nach hinten aufgezogen. Zunächst wird das Abdeckelement vom Verpackungsmaterial abgeschält. Dabei darf sich das Abdeckelement nicht vom Aufreißbereichanfang lösen, so daß sich die Packung in üblicher Weise durch Einreißen der Schwächungslinien öffnen läßt. Mit dem bekannten Abdeckelement wird zwar die gestellte Aufgabe gelöst, einen großen Bereich einer gasdichten Packung mit kleinem Materialaufwand zu öffnen, die Herstellung der bekannten Packung ist jedoch durch die Schaffung mehrerer klebender und nichtklebender Zonen sehr aufwendig. Darüberhinaus muß das Verpackungsmaterial im Aufreißbereichanfang eine Durchstanzung bzw. Schwächung aufweisen, von der aus mit dem Abdeckelement die Packung in üblicher Weise durch Einreißen der Schwächungslinien geöffnet werden kann. Dabei muß der Kleber so beschaffen sein, daß die Adhäsion zwischen Abdeckelement und Aufreißbereichanfang groß genug ist, um die notwendige Kraft zum Aufreißen des Verpackungsmaterials zu überwinden, ohne das Abdeckelement vollständig abzuziehen. Eine weitere Schwierigkeit liegt in dem Erfordernis, das Abdeckelement mit seiner inneren nichtklebenden Zone genau auf die Durchstanzung zu plazieren, ohne diese mit Klebstoff zu kontaktieren.
