  • the present invention is a tufted fabric having a fibrous primary backing layer, a plurality of fibrous tufts each made of a bundle of yarns forming a pile layer on the face side of the primary backing layer and extending through the backside of the primary backing layer to form a plurality of loops, wherein the loops are anchored to the primary backing layer either through entanglement or through heating the primary backing layer to cause fusion of the loops to the back of the primary backing layer.
  • the amount of the binder fiber is from 5% to 95% of the blend, preferably from 15% to 30% of the blend. As the proportion of the binder fiber in the blend is increased, the resulting heat bonded backing will generally have greater rigidity. The amount of bonding will depend most importantly on whether binder is available to bond the polyester fiber at the crossover point, and the statistical probability of this increases with an increase in the amount of binder.

Claims (9)

  1. Tapis touffeté comportant :
    une couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier comprenant des fibres à liant thermoplastique,
    plusieurs touffes fibreuses (14) s'étendant à travers une face de ladite couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier pour former plusieurs boucles d'ancrage faisant saillie d'une face opposée de ladite couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier, et
    une couche secondaire fibreuse non tissée (11) de dossier aiguilletée à ladite face opposée de ladite couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier et comportant des fibres à liant thermoplastique, la structure précitée étant thermofixée pour immobiliser lesdites boucles d'ancrage desdites touffes fibreuses (14).
  2. Tapis touffeté selon la revendication 1, dans lequel lesdites couches primaire et secondaire (12, 11) de dossier sont en la même matière thermoplastique.
  3. Tapis touffeté selon la revendication 1 ou 2, dans lequel ladite matière thermoplastique est choisie parmi les polyester, polyamide et polypropylène.
  4. Tapis touffeté selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1-3, dans lequel ladite fibre à liant thermoplastique est une fibre hétérofil.
  5. Tapis touffeté selon la revendication 3, dans lequel les fibres de polyester sont des fibres de téréphtalate de polyéthylène ou des copolyesters de téréphtalate de polyéthylène.
  6. Procédé pour produire un tapis touffeté, ledit procédé comprenant :
    l'utilisation d'une couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier comprenant une fibre à liant thermoplastique,
    l'insertion dans ladite couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier de plusieurs touffes fibreuses (14), et lesdites touffes fibreuses (14) s'étendant à travers une face de ladite couche primaire fibreuse de dossier (12) pour former plusieurs boucles d'ancrage faisant saillie d'une face opposée de ladite couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier,
    l'aiguilletage, ensuite, d'une couche secondaire fibreuse non tissée (11) de dossier comprenant des fibres de liant thermoplastique à ladite face opposée de ladite couche primaire fibreuse (12) de dossier, et
    ensuite, le thermofixage de la structure précitée pour immobiliser lesdites boucles d'ancrage desdites touffes fibreuses (14).
  7. Procédé de production d'un tapis touffeté selon la revendication 6, dans lequel lesdites couches primaire et secondaire (12, 11) de dossier sont en la même matière thermoplastique.
  8. Procédé de production d'un tapis touffeté selon la revendication 6 ou 7, dans lequel ladite matière thermoplastique est choisie parmi les polyester, polyamide et polypropylène.
  9. Procédé de production d'un tapis touffeté selon l'une quelconque des revendications 6-8, dans lequel ladite fibre à liant est une fibre hétérofil.
