  • the present invention is a tufted fabric having a fibrous primary backing layer, a plurality of fibrous tufts each made of a bundle of yarns forming a pile layer on the face side of the primary backing layer and extending through the backside of the primary backing layer to form a plurality of loops, wherein the loops are anchored to the primary backing layer either through entanglement or through heating the primary backing layer to cause fusion of the loops to the back of the primary backing layer.
  • the amount of the binder fiber is from 5% to 95% of the blend, preferably from 15% to 30% of the blend. As the proportion of the binder fiber in the blend is increased, the resulting heat bonded backing will generally have greater rigidity. The amount of bonding will depend most importantly on whether binder is available to bond the polyester fiber at the crossover point, and the statistical probability of this increases with an increase in the amount of binder.

Claims (9)

  1. Nadelflorteppich, umfassend:
    a)
    eine faserige, primäre Trägerschicht (12), die thermoplastische Binderfasern umfaßt,
    eine Mehrzahl faseriger Nadelflore (14), die sich durch eine Seite der faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12) erstrecken, um eine Mehrzahl von Verankerungsschlingen zu bilden, die aus einer gegenüberliegenden Seite der faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12) herausragen, und
    eine ungewebte, faserige, sekundäre Trägerschicht (11), die mit der gegenüberliegenden Seite der faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12) vernadelt ist und thermoplastische Binderfasern umfaßt, wobei die obige Struktur thermofixiert wird, um die Verankerungsschlingen der faserigen Nadelflore (14) zu verfestigen.
  2. Nadelflorteppich gemäß Anspruch 1, worin die primäre Trägerschicht (12) und die sekundäre Trägerschicht (11) aus dem gleichen thermoplastischen Material sind.
  3. Nadelflorteppich gemäß Anspruch 1 oder Anspruch 2, worin das thermoplastische Material aus Polyester, Polyamid und Polypropylen ausgewählt ist.
  4. Nadelflorteppich gemäß irgendeinem der Ansprüche 1 bis 3, worin die thermoplastische Binderfaser eine Heterofil-Faser ist.
  5. Nadelflorteppich gemäß Anspruch 3, worin die Polyesterfasern Polyethylenterephthalat-Fasern oder Polyethylenterephthalat-Copolyester-Fasern sind.
  6. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Nadelflorteppichs, umfassend:
    das Bereitstellen einer faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12), die thermoplastische Binderfasern umfaßt;
    das Einführen einer Mehrzahl faseriger Nadelflore (14) in die faserige, primäre Trägerschicht (12), wobei sich die faserigen Nadelflore (14) durch eine Seite der faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12) erstrecken, um eine Mehrzahl von Verankerungsschlingen zu bilden, die aus einer gegenüberliegenden Seite der faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12) herausragen,
    das anschließende Vernadeln einer ungewebten, faserigen, sekundären Trägerschicht (11), die thermoplastische Binderfasern umfaßt, mit der gegenüberliegende Seite der faserigen, primären Trägerschicht (12), und das anschließende Thermofixieren der obigen Struktur, um die Verankerungsschlingen des faserigen Nadelflors (14) zu verfestigen.
  7. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Nadelflorteppichs gemäß Anspruch 6, worin die primäre Trägerschicht (12) und die sekundäre Trägerschicht (11) aus dem gleichen thermoplastischen Material sind.
  8. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Nadelflorteppichs gemäß den Ansprüchen 6 oder 7, worin das thermoplastische Material aus Polyester, Polyamid und Polypropylen ausgewählt ist.
  9. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Nadelflorteppichs gemäß irgendeinem der Ansprüche 6 bis 8, worin die Binderfaser eine Heterofil-Faser ist.
