Description
Verfahren für die Direktsynthese von Organozinnchloriden sowie deren Verwendung
Beschreibung
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren für die Direktsynthese von Organozinnchloriden der allgemeinen Formel
RnSnC14-n
wobei n = 1 - 2
und R = lineares oder verzweigtkettiges oder cycloaliphatisches Alkyl mit 4 - 18 C-Atomen,
einschließlich von Gemischen derartiger Verbindungen, durch Umsetzung von Zinn(II)Chlorid mit Alkylchloriden sowie die Verwendung der hergestellten Organozinnchloride.
Die Reaktion zwischen Zinn(II)chlorid und Alkylchloriden ist eine bekannte Umsetzung nach folgender Stöchiometrie:
SnCl2 -f R'-Cl-→ R'-SnCl3 (R'= Alkyl)
Im Laufe einer derartigen Synthese folgt als Nebenreaktion folgende Umsetzung:

Folgende Zinn(IV)Verbindungen haben industrielle Bedeutung, da sie durch bekannte Reaktionen zu gewünschten Endprodukten in erwünschte Endprodukte umgewandelt werden können:

Verfahren der direkten Synthese von Organozinnhalogeniden sind bereits in zahlreichen Patenten beschrieben, insbesondere unter Verwendung von Alkylbromiden und -jodiden als Ausgangshalogenide.
Es ist bekannt, bspw. aus US-PS 3 857 868, daß die Reaktion der direkten Synthese durch das Vorhandensein von tertiären Aminen und/oder guaternären Ammoniumsalzen gefördert wird, wobei letztere "in situ" aus dem verwendeten tertiären Amin und dem eingesetzten Alkylhalogenid gebildet werden können.
Die Reaktion wird weiterhin gefördert durch das Vorhandensein von polaren Lösungsmitteln und/oder Katalysatoren, welchem mit dem Zinn reagieren können. Zu diesem Zweck werden zuweilen Alkohole, Ester oder Amide verwendet.
Bei der Direktsynthese von Alkylzinnhalogeniden haben Alkylchloride gegenüber metallischem Zinn oder Zinn(II)chlorid im Vergleich zu den entsprechenden Alkylbromiden und -jodiden eine geringe Reaktivität.
Weiterhin nimmt innerhalb der Alkylchloride die Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit und die Ausbeute an erwünschtem Reaktionsprodukt mit zunehmender Anzahl der C-Atome in der Alkylkette ab, wobei bereits bei Verwendung von C.-Alkylchlorid (Butylchlorid) die Direktsynthese schwierig durchzuführen ist. Die Alkylzinnhalogenide werden daher oft unter Verwendung der entsprechenden
Alkyl-Aluminiumverbindungen oder Grignard-Reagenzien hergestellt, was einen beträchtlichen Mehraufwand an Kosten und Verfahrensschritten erfordert.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Verfahren für die Direktsynthese von Organozinnchloriden aus
Zinn(II) chlorid unter Verwendung von Alkylchloriden mit vier oder mehr C-Atomen zur Verfügung zu stellen, das sich in einfacher Weise und mit guter Ausbeute durchführen läßt.
Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß gelöst durch ein Verfahren der eingangs genannten Art, das dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß man die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von Aminen der allgemeinen Formel

C-Atomen, Aryl, substituiertes Aryl oder Alkylaryl; und
m = 1 - 20.
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft speziell die Direk synthese von Organozinnchloriden, ausgehend von Alkylchloriden, welche wegen ihrer geringeren Reaktivität bisher schwieriger verwendbar waren als die entsprechenden Bromide und Jodide.
Gemäß der Erfindung hat sich überraschenderweise gezeigt, daß die Direktsynthese von Organozinnchloriden durch Umsetzung von Zinn(II)chlorid mit Alkylchloriden sehr wirksam und effizient durchgeführt werden kann, wenn die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von Aminen der oben angegebenen Formel A oder Ammoniumchloriden der oben angegebenen Formel B ausgeführt wird. Im Falle der Verwendung der Amine der Formel A werden hierbei in situ quarternäre Ammoniumsalze gebildet.
Die Umsetzung erfolgt geeigneterweise bei einer Temperatur zwischen 20 und 200°C, vorzugsweise zwischen 140 und 190°C in Gegenwart von 0,05 bis 4 Mol, insbesondere bevorzugt 0,33 bis 0,5 Mol, des Amins der Formel A und/oder des Ammoniumchlorids der Formel B pro Mol Zinn(II)chlorid. Die Umsetzungszeit beträgt geeigneterweise 3 bis 24 Stunden, vorzugsweise 6 bis 10 Stunden. Ferner erfolgt die Umsetzung geeigneterweise mit 1 bis 6 Mol, vorzugsweise 1 bis 3 Mol Alkylchlorid pro Mol Zinn(II)chlorid. Als Alkylchloride werden für die Direktsynthese vorzugsweise Butyl-, Octyl- oder Dodecylchlorid eingesetzt.
Gemäß einer anderen Ausführungsform kann neben Zinn(II)chlorid noch zusätzlich metallisches Zinn für die Direktsynthese eingesetzt werden. Hierbei lassen sich als Reaktionsprodukte Mischungen aus Monoalkylzinn- und Dialkylzinnchloriden erhalten.
Das Amin und/oder Ammoniumchlorid kann nach vervollständigter Umsetzung anschließend durch bekannte chemische Verfahren
zurückgewonnen und wieder eingesetzt werden. Zur Rückgewinnung des nicht umgesetzten Alkylchlorids und/oder des gegebenenfalls verwendeten Lösungsmittels kann unter verringertem Druck destilliert werden.
Die erfindungsgemäß hergestellten Organozinnchloride eignen sich insbesondere als Zwischenprodukte zur Herstellung von Thermostabilisatoren, bspw. Alkylzinnmercaptoverbindungen, für PVC-Harze.
Die nachfolgenden Beispiele erläutern die Erfindung.
Die Reaktionsprodukte wurden unter Anwendung der Dünnschichtchromatographie analysiert.
Beispiel 1:
In einen mit Rührer, Thermometer und Kühler versehenen Kolben werden ein Ammoniumchlorid der Formel

(MG 353,9; 95,5 g; 0,27 Mol),
SnCl2 wasserfrei (MG 189,62; 51,2 g; 0,27 Mol und Octylchlorid
(MG 148,7; 60 g; 0,4 Mol) gegeben.
Die Lösung des SnCl2 im Ammoniumchlorid erfolgt exotherm, wobei die Temperatur auf 60°C ansteigt. Die Reaktion selbst wird bei 160- 165°C unter Rühren über 8 Stunden durchgeführt,
Das unreagierte Octylchlorid wird nach erfolgter Umsetzung abdestilliert. Durch Lösungsmittelextraktion konnten 54,7 g Monooctylzinntrichlorid erhalten werden. Dünnschichtchromatographisch konnten keine weiteren Alkylzinnderivate nachgewiesen werden.
Ausbeute: 60 %
Beispiel 2:
In einen mit Thermometer, Kühler, Rührer und Tropftrichter versehenen Reaktionskolben werden Zinnpulver
(50 g; 0,42 Mol), SnCl2 wasserfrei (112,5 g; 0,59 Mol) und Diethylethoxyethanolamin der Formel
(C2H5)2 -N CH-CH-OCH2CH2OH (MG 161,25; 22,5 g; 0,14 Mol)
gegeben.
Die Reaktion wird bei 180°C durchgeführt, wobei 195,5 g (1,31 Mol) Octylchlorid tropfenweise über 6 Stunden zugegeben werden und die Temperatur bei 180°C gehalten wird.
Nach der vollständigen Zugabe des Octylchlorids wird das Reaktionsgemisch über weitere 4 Stunden bei dieser Temperatur gehalten und der Überschuß an Octylchlorid wird abdestilliert.
Die Ausbeute an Monooctylzinntrichlorid, bezogen auf ein eingesetztes Zinn(II)chlorid, beträgt 85,0 %. Vom eingesetzten Zinnmetall wurden 90 % umgesetzt.
Das Endprodukt weist folgende Zusammensetzung auf:
50,9 % Monooctylzinntrichlorid und 48,1 % Dioctylzinndichlorid.
Beispiel 3:
In einen mit Rührer, Thermometer und Kühler versehenen Kolben werden 70,5 g eines Kokosamins der Formel:
C13H27N L (CH2CH20)2-CH-CH2OH)j 2 (MG 463 70,5 g; 0,152 Mol) und
SnCl2 wasserfrei (MG 189,62; 100 g; 0,527 Mol) gegeben.
Butylchlorid (MG 92,5) wird bei 160 - 170°C in den Kolben mit einer Geschwindigkeit eingeleitet, daß die Temperatur über 8 Stunden etwa konstant bleibt.
In dieser Zeit werden etwa 34 g (0,3676 Mol) Butylchlorid umgesetzt. Danach wird das Reaktionsgemisch filtriert und Monobutylzinntrichlorid (MG 282,2) unter reduziertem Druck destilliert. Die Ausbeute an Monobutylzinntrichlorid beträgt ungefähr 53,9 %, bezogen auf das eingesetzte Zinn(II)chlorid. Dibutylzinndichlorid kann als Reaktionsnebenprodukt im Destillationsrückstand mittels Dünnschichtchromatographie nachgewiesen werden.

1. Verfahren für die Direktsynthese von Organozinnchloriden der Formel

durch Umsetzung von Zinn(II)chlorid mit Alkylchloriden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Umsetzung in Gegenwart von A inen der allgemeinen Formel

Amin und/oder das Ammoniumchlorid in einem Verhältnis von 0,05 - 4 Mol, insbesondere 0,33 - 0,5 Mol, je Mol Zinn(II)chlorid eingesetzt wird.
6. Verfahren nach mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 - 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
neben Zinn(II)chlorid noch zusätzliches metallisches Zinn für die Direktsynthese eingesetzt wird.
7. Verwendung der nach dem Verfahren gemäß mindestens einem der Ansprüche l bis 6 hergestellten Organozinnchloride als Zwischenprodukte zur Herstellung von Thermostabilisatoren für Polyvinylchloridharze.
