- the devices for introducing folding box blanks known to date, commonly called feeders by practitioners, generally include a lower transport member constituted by a series of endless belts placed side by side across the width of the device. These endless belts are driven by a drive roller placed at the front of the device and then pass around a driven roller placed at the rear of the aforementioned device. The upper strand of the endless belts is further supported by a series of rollers so as to constitute a transport plane having a relatively rigid surface.
- a vertical gauge is placed substantially in the axis of the driving roller and above it.
- the cutouts of folding boxes to be introduced are arranged in an inclined manner above the endless belts, their front edge coming to rest against an inclined surface of the gauge while their rear part rests on supports.
- two gauges are mounted side by side across the width of the feeder.
- a clearance corresponding substantially to the thickness of the cut to be introduced is left between the lower part of the gauge and the endless belt above which this gauge is mounted.
- the cutouts of folding boxes are generally printed and, for folding requirements, the cutout is placed in the feeder so that the print is facing the endless belts.
- the lower cutout of the stack located in the feeder will necessarily rub with its unprinted side on the printed side of the next cutout.
- the introduction devices known to date therefore have certain drawbacks when introducing cutouts having printed surfaces very sensitive to scratches and to their degradation by friction.
- the use of a conventional gauge means that there is always a certain pressure, due to the weight of the stack of cuts placed in the feeder, between the bottom cut of the stack and the next cut. This pressure produces a detrimental effect during the introduction of cutouts whose impression is very fragile, for example when working cutouts which have undergone printing with inks which are polymerizable with ultra-violet rays or in the case of a printing with inks with the same resistance characteristics.
- the printing of the blanks is deteriorated to such an extent that the result results in the scrapping of the blanks of folding boxes thus worked.

- the flow or cushion of fluid may even cause a total absence of contact between the two cuts 21 and 26.

- This gauge 20 of rectangular section is fixed, so that it can be adjusted vertically, against a crosspiece 27 extending between the two side frames (not shown) of feeder 2 using a special screw 28.

- the bore 32 is closed at one of its ends by a screw 34 provided with a seal 35 while its other end is equipped with a threaded connection 36 connected to the fluid supply pipe 37.
- three channels 33 are arranged in the lower end of the gauge 20. It is understood that depending on the characteristics of the prints made on the blanks or according to their grammage, one could imagine using a lower or higher number of channels 33.
