Definitions
- the present invention relates to timepieces which have special aesthetic effects which give them an original and attractive appearance.
- timepieces such as watches or clocks
- the minute indicator of which is constituted by a disc which rotates both on itself and around the central axis which corresponds to the axis of the hour and minute hands in classic timepieces.
- Timepieces of this type are described, for example, in patent application WO 88/02 507 and in patent CH 676 074.
- the minute disc carries a scale of the minutes and rotates, on the one hand, clockwise, around the central axis of a dial fitted with an hour scale, at due to one revolution every 12 hours and, on the other hand, on itself, counterclockwise, at the rate of 11 revolutions per revolution around the axis of the dial.
- the timepiece does not have an hour indicator and the current time is indicated by the point of tangency between the minute disc and the hour scale on the dial.
- the hour indicator member is a disc
- this is attached to the end of a shaft of the movement of the timepiece which passes through a central opening of the dial which is masked by the hour disc which is located above her.
- the minute disc is then placed near the edge of the hour disc so that its center can serve as an index to indicate the current hour, the current minute being indicated by the direction in which the index is located. minutes.
- the hour indicator is a ring
- its inner edge is provided with a toothing which meshes with a toothed wheel fixed to the end of a movement shaft and the current time is then indicated by an index carried by the upper face of this ring, which rotates around a circular dial fixed on the inner face of the crystal of the timepiece.
- the minutes disc which again indicates the current minute by the direction of its index, can be placed for example approximately equidistant from the outer and inner edges of the ring indicating the hours and is located at the periphery of the movement of the timepiece.
- the minutes disc is fixed to the end of a shaft which crosses this organ and which carries at its end a pinion which meshes with a fixed toothed wheel of coincident axis with that of the shaft which drives the disc or the hour ring.
- hour and minute indicators and the parts that rotate them are mounted on bearings to reduce friction.
- the applicant proposes to provide a new way of adding, in a timepiece, a note of attraction and unusual originality to the timekeeping functions.
- the subject of the invention is a timepiece like that of patent CH 676 074, that is to say a timepiece which comprises a box provided with a crystal, a movement surmounted by a dial, placed in a housing of the box and at least one indicator member, said movement itself comprising a plate, motor means, drive means intended to drive the indicator member, a gear train comprising at least one wheel connecting the drive means to the motor means, an oscillating system for regulating the movement of the gear train and a support element driven in rotation in the vicinity of the edge of the plate and carrying at least one element of the timepiece visible from the outside of it.
- the element of the timepiece which is carried by the support element is a constituent element of the movement and not an indicator member as is the case in the timepiece described in Patent CH 676,074.
- the movement is a mechanical movement and the element of support carries the oscillating system, the latter comprising a regulating member and an exhaust.
- the support element has a generally planar shape and comprises a central recess provided on its edge with a toothing by which it is driven.
- a timepiece here a wristwatch, designated by the general reference 1, and equipped with a clockwork movement 2 according to the invention. While remaining in similar dimensions, this timepiece could be a pocket watch or a pendant watch.
- This timepiece comprises a box 4 having, in a manner known per se, a middle part 6 closed by a bottom 8 and by a crystal 10 to define a housing 12.
- the movement 2 housed in the housing 12 is overcome a dial 14 and two hours 16 and 18 minutes respectively.
- Movement 2 conventionally comprises a plate 20 on which are mounted motor means 22, an oscillating system 24, drive means 26, 27 of the indicator members 16 and 18 formed respectively by the hour barrel and the carriageway. Furthermore, the movement comprises a train 28 connecting the motor means 22 to the drive means 26, 27 and of which only the wheels and pinions necessary for understanding the invention have been shown. The movement also includes a classic winding and time-setting system of which only a crown 30 is shown.
- the drive means 22 are formed by a spring (not shown) enclosed in a barrel.
- This barrel is housed in a recess 32 formed in the plate 20 and is mounted between the bottom of this recess 32 and a barrel bridge 34.
- This barrel comprises a driving wheel 36 which forms a first wheel of the gear train 28.
- This wheel 36 is engaged with a center pinion 38 which itself carries a center wheel 40.
- the center wheel 40 which also indirectly carries the minute indicator member 18, meshes with a reduction gear pinion 42.
- the latter carries a reduction gear 44 which meshes with an input pinion 46.
- This pinion 46 also carries an input wheel 48 indirectly meshing with the oscillating system 24 which will be described in more detail below.
- the movement 2 also comprises a support element 50 intended to support at least one component of the movement.
- the constituent element of the movement which is carried by the support element 50 is the oscillating system 24.
- This support element 50 has a generally planar shape and has a recess 52 in its central part.
- the support element 50 is mounted substantially on the surface of the plate and is rotated in the vicinity of the edge of the latter by the input wheel 48 which meshes with an internal toothing 54 formed on the edge of the recess 52 .
- this support element 50 has the shape of a star comprising three branches 56, 58, 60 extending at 120 ° with respect to each other and one of which 60 of they carry the oscillating system 24.
- the other two preferably carry balancing weights 62.
- These balancing weights are chosen and arranged to balance the oscillating system and can for example take the form of decorative objects.
- the support element can take any other form as long as it retains a generally planar shape.
- a support element in the form of a simple ring or a star comprising any number of branches. It goes without saying that whatever the shape of the support element 50, the latter will be balanced by means of balancing weights chosen and appropriately arranged.
- each branch of the support element 50 rests on the plate 20 by means of a roller 64 which travels on a circular raceway 66 extending over the entire diameter of the plate.
- This raceway 66 is formed of a polished ring of hard material, for example of hardened steel, inserted into a bottom 68 of a circular cup-shaped part 70 hollowed out at its center. This bowl is fixed on the plate.
- Each branch also includes two other rollers 72, 74 respectively traveling on raceways 76, 78 inserted in the inner wall 80 of the bowl 70 and a flange 82 extending perpendicular to the wall and towards the inside of the bowl.
- the rollers 64 and 72 provide axial guidance of the support element 50 on the surface of the plate and the rollers 74 provide radial guidance.
- rollers can be replaced by other guide means and, for example, a person skilled in the art may plan to use ball bearings or the like.
- the oscillating system essentially comprises a regulator 84 and an exhaust 86.
- the regulator 84 conventionally comprises a balance 88 a hairspring 90 mounted on a balance axis 92 which is pivoted between two stones formed respectively in the upper surface of the branch 60 and in a bridge 94 fixed on this branch.
- the bridge 94 also carries a racket 96 provided with racket pins.
- the balance extends substantially in the plane of the dial 14 so that it is at a short distance from the glass and better visible through the latter.
- an anchor 98 pivoted between the branch 60 and a bridge 100 integral with the latter cooperates, on the one hand, with the pendulum axis 92, and on the other hand, with an escape wheel 102.
- the wheel 102 is carried by an axis 104 also pivoted between the branch 60 and the bridge 100.
- This axis 104 also carries an exhaust pinion 106, the latter and the escape wheel extending on either side of the plane of the branch 60 so that the wheel 102 is located above the branch 60, that is to say directed towards the side of the glass 10, and that the pinion 106 is located below the branch 60, it ie directed towards the side of the plate 20.
- the pinion 106 meshes with a toothed ring 108 fixed to the plate.
- the input wheel 48 meshes according to the invention with the toothing 54 to drive the element of support 50 rotating around the center of the movement.
- This rotation of the support element 50 allows the exhaust pinion 106 to roll on the toothed ring 108 and thus distribute via the escape wheel 102 and the anchor 98 the force necessary for the balance so that it can oscillate.
- the support element 50 carrying the oscillating system 22 can be rotated around the watch around at a rate of one revolution per minute so that in addition to the attractive aesthetic effect given by the mobility of the system oscillating around the dial, this support element advantageously marks the second.
- the timepiece comprises a single barrel, but it is understood that it can include two if necessary, for example if the energy supplied by a single n is not sufficient to drive the support element equipped with the oscillating system and the balancing weights.
- the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been described and it is possible for example to use this same concept with an electro-mechanical clockwork movement.
- the rotor of an electric motor can be pivoted in a branch of the support element 50, this same branch forming the stator of the motor and carrying the coils while the two other branches of the element support respectively carry the battery and the circuit forming the time base. Connection tracks between the various elements which are carried by the support element can be produced on the latter so that the entire electrical part of the movement is carried by the mobile part of the system.
- the axis of the rotor further carries a wheel which meshes with a toothed crown secured to the plate while the internal toothing of the support element drives a wheel pivoted on the plate which wheel in turn drives a train of gear connected to the indicator drive members.
- the support element 50 and the bottom of the bowl 70 of the movement described above advantageously have united and visible surfaces which can be easily decorated. We can for example engrave, chisel or even provide precious stones by crimping.
