Definitions

  • the present invention relates to movements of timepieces, and more particularly watches, of the type comprising a gear train intended to drive a device for displaying hourly information, for example hands and a dial with these needles.
  • Such movements are well known. They can be mechanical type, automatic or quartz, the energy can then, in the latter case, be provided by a battery, accumulator or generator.
  • the wheels constituting the work train turn at a faster and faster speed, from the barrel to the exhaust.
  • the wheel driven by the barrel makes a turn in one hour and carries the minute hand, while the wheel that drives the escape wheel is one revolution per minute and wears the seconds hand.
  • a watch of this type is described in the document CH 346,490 . It comprises a plate and bridges between which are rotatably mounted the motor member as well as the mobiles of the gear train, the exhaust and the balance.
  • the motor is usually a stepper motor that drives directly or indirectly a wheel making a turn in a minute and carrying a second hand. This wheel rotates, through the average wheel, a wheel performing a turn in one hour and carrying the minute hand.
  • watches provide a complementary aesthetic function to the time indication.
  • some parts do not include a dial, so that the movement is apparent.
  • the frame is generally worked, for example engraved and / or cut.
  • a movement of this type is described in the document CH 66766 . It comprises a plate and a bridge between which are rotatably mounted the motor member and the mobiles of the work train, while the timer wheel is placed at the front of the bridge and not on the turntable as it is usually the case. 'use.
  • the escapement and the balance are arranged on the other side of the plate, and held by another bridge.
  • This movement allows a convex shape giving the watch an original appearance.
  • Such a configuration does not make apparent the pendulum and the exhaust which are the most spectacular organs.
  • It further comprises a gear train whose first mobile is disposed on the opposite side to the side of said bridge side and secured to one of the wheels of the gear train, said shaft being secured to the last mobile said gear train.
  • the plate, the bridges, the drive member, the finishing gear and the time base generally occupy a generally cylindrical volume.
  • the last mobile of the gear wheel is disposed radially out of this volume.
  • the movement comprises two modules, one comprising the motor unit, the finishing gear and the time base, the other offset, at least the last mobile of the gear wheel.
  • the movement comprises, in addition, an automatic winding mechanism provided with an oscillating mass disposed on the bridges, on the opposite side to that in contact with the plate.
  • This mass pivots about a traversing axis, in its central part, the volume occupied by the plate, the bridges, the drive member, the work train and the time base.
  • the present invention also relates to a watch equipped with a movement as defined above. It further comprises a housing, delimited by a bottom and an ice, and a display device for indicating a time information and which comprises a dial surface. It is, moreover, provided with an animation known in itself.
  • the animation is obtained, in addition to that resulting from the movement of the second hand, in different ways. For example by the rotation of the balance appearing, in part or in whole, in an opening provided for this purpose in the dial.
  • This solution has the disadvantage of providing a weak animation surface compared to that of the watch.
  • the balance being, furthermore, located at a certain depth and partially covered by the plate, the animation is not very visible.
  • the automatic winding device comprises two coupled oscillating masses, one located on the side of the bridges of the movement and the other side of the dial, which thus covers the second mass. Thanks to one or more openings in the dial, the second oscillating mass is partially visible and provides the desired animation.
  • This solution suffers from the same major disadvantage as the previous ones, namely that of having a small animation surface, and in addition to using a two-mass movement, which is necessarily expensive.
  • the present invention also makes it possible to overcome these drawbacks by proposing a watch in which the animation is produced by a mobile object of large size and which remains clearly visible in all its positions.
  • the movement of the watch according to the invention is housed in the housing so that its oscillating weight is arranged facing the ice, the display device being, in whole or in part, off-center relative to the axis of the oscillating mass.
  • An advantage of the invention is that the oscillating mass can thus be clearly visible, in whole or almost entirely, whatever its position, because it is on the ice side of the watch and the display device is, in all or in part, off-center with respect to the volume in which are the drive member, the work train and the time base, and therefore with respect to the oscillating weight.
  • Another advantage of the invention is to allow to give the case of the watch a highly curved shape, without substantially increasing its thickness, by inclining the plane of the dial surface relative to the plane of movement and therefore the oscillating mass.
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 represent a watch according to a first embodiment of the invention, respectively seen in plan and in section.
  • reference numeral 1 denotes a housing, of elongated shape in the 6h-12h direction, which comprises a bottom 2a and an ice 2b mounted on a telescope 3, which is fixed on the middle of the housing 1 with the aid of Visible screws 4.
  • the telescope 3 could also be fixed in known manner without visible elements.
  • the bezel 3 has two intersecting circular cutouts 5a and 5b which intersect at points 6a and 6b, to give an opening in the form of eight.
  • the centers of the two cutouts, respectively 7a and 7b, are on the longitudinal axis xx 'of the housing, and the diameters of the circles delimiting the two cuts are equal in this case.
  • a different cut could of course also be suitable, for example of rectangular shape. In this case, it could be advantageous to treat the ice 2b so that it is transparent in its central part, and opaque or translucent in its periphery, the transparent part also forming two circles.
  • the ice 2b has the shape of the cut. It is fixed on the bezel 3 in a known manner and its shape, resulting from the arrangement of the organs of the watch, gives it a particular character.
  • a module 10 having all the characteristics of a watch movement of cylindrical general shape with circular section is disposed inside the housing 1. It comprises, inscribed in its volume, a plate 10a and 10b bridges forming a frame, an automatic winding mechanism 10c, and not explicitly shown in the drawing, a time base, for example a balance wheel, a work train and a motor unit.
  • the module 10 is shown schematically in section on the Fig. 2 and 3 . It is provided with an oscillating mass 11, fixed on the bridge-side frame, which faces the cutout 5b and whose axis of rotation passes through the center 7b of the circle delimiting this cutout.
  • a time setting rod 12 is engaged in the module 10 through an opening not visible in the drawing and made in the housing 1.
  • the diameter of the cutout 5b is chosen substantially equal to that of the mass 11.
  • the display device comprises, in the present embodiment, needles 15a and 15b, respectively hours and minutes, and a graduated dial 16 plane or substantially plane, opposite which are arranged the needles 15a and 15b.
  • the display device could be completed, and still include other means for indicating, for example the seconds, the date or the day of the week.
  • This information could also be in digital or alpha-numeric form and be displayed using discs or drums in known manner, without departing from the scope of the invention.
  • the dial 16 is substantially tangential to the face of the oscillating mass 11 adjacent to the ice 2b.
  • a slight encroachment of the dial shows that the decrease of the animation surface is insignificant, but makes it easier to read the time.
  • the portion of the dial covering the oscillating mass 11 could also be larger and advantageously transparent or provided with one or more cutouts.
  • the needles 15a and 15b are rotated from a mobile of the finishing train of the module 10 making a turn in one hour, ie the center mobile, and having a shaft 17b which carries a wheel 17a.
  • This wheel is fixed on the part of the tree generally intended to carry a roadway, which is generally intended to carry the minute hand.
  • the movement comprises a gear wheel comprising the driving gear 17a fixed on the shaft 17b and a receiving gear 18.
  • the receiving gear wheel 18 is integral with a shaft 19 carrying a roadway 20 on which is mounted the minute hand 15b. It is offset with respect to the axis z-z 'of the module 10 and the oscillating mass 11.
  • the module 10 consists of a watch movement in the classical sense of the term, it can be seen that the wheel 17a rotates in the counter-clockwise direction, since the module 10 is returned in the present construction. However, if the wheels 17a and 18 have the same diameter, and they mesh directly with one with the other, there will be a reversal of the direction of rotation of the wheel 18 which will then cause the needle 15b clockwise and at the correct speed.
  • a gear train known per se as the time train, comprises the frictionally mounted roadway 20 on the shaft 19, a timer wheel 21 and a cannon wheel 22 driven by the pinion of the timer wheel 21, at the speed of a turn in twelve hours, which carries the hour hand 15a.
  • the gear train is pivotally mounted on the bridges 31, 32 and 33, which form a complementary module attached to the module 10, these two modules together constituting the movement.
  • a space 30 exists between the bridges 31 and 32. It can be used to implement additional mechanisms or mechanisms to indicate other functions, hourly or not.
  • the structure of the movement in two complementary modules is advantageous for producing a curved watch, without substantially increasing its thickness, as shown in FIG. Fig. 3 .
  • the plane of the dial 16 in the vicinity of the needles 15a and 15b need not necessarily be parallel to that of the module 10, as is the case for conventional watches. This allows the whole movement and display device to follow the curvature of the housing, the axis of rotation yy 'needles 15a and 15b having, under these conditions, a different orientation than the axis of rotation zz' of the oscillating mass 11.
  • the angle formed by these two axes is about 10 degrees. This requires tilting the wheel 23 by 5 degrees relative to the wheel 17a, and the wheel 24 of the same angle with respect to the wheel 18. This angle could be further decreased by inclining the wheel 23 relative to the wheel 24. With such small angles the meshing conditions of straight teeth remain good enough that it is not necessary to use conical teeth.
  • the display device further comprises a needle carried by a moving body provided with a shaft crossing the axis of the mass, and a dial covering the oscillating mass in its central part or surrounding it at its periphery, the dial carrying a scale in relation to the information displayed by the complementary needle.
  • the display device comprises several needles arranged side by side, rather than coaxial, one or more of them being able to be coaxial with the oscillating mass 11, the others being mounted on mobiles of which the axis of rotation is outside the volume occupied by the module 10.
  • complementary display means of digital or alpha-numeric type, for example a date disc and a day disc, is also conceivable.
  • the gear train could also be connected to the gear train by the average wheel or seconds. In this case, the wheels 23 and 24 could then play a multiplying role.
