Definitions

  • This application relates to the general technical field of watch movements and the mechanisms of indications associated with them, used in particular in mechanical watchmaking.
  • the present invention more particularly relates to a clockwork comprising a drive member, a regulating member and an indication mechanism comprising a first dial for the indication of a first time information and a second dial for the indication of a second time information.
  • This first dial in the mechanism may include the indication of hours while the second dial carries the indication of minutes.
  • a conventional mechanism is the needle mechanism, which generally consists of a first hand for the indication of the hours and a second hand for the indication of the minutes.
  • These needles are usually formed of a piece of metal or other light material (eg aluminum or other light metal) and are rotated over a single dial containing both indications of the hours and the indications of the minutes by a tree which is typically located at the center of the watch.
  • This third needle can also be located in the center of the watch, but it can also be rotated about an axis that does not coincide with the central axis of the watch. Solutions are known in particular in which the axis of the second hand is situated between the central axis and the six-hour indication (typically on the bottom of the dial). In this case, the dial may also carry the seconds indications.
  • the wicket mechanism In watch windows, the dial is provided with openings under which appear the time indications, for example hours, minutes and seconds. These indications are typically carried by a disc or tray that can be moved appropriately below the dial. However, this type of indication mechanism is rather used for the indication of the dates in combination with the needle mechanism.
  • This indicating mechanism indicates the hours with the aid of an index integral with the barrel which delivers the driving force to the regulating organ of the watch.
  • the barrel is sized to rotate at a rate of one twelfth of an hour.
  • the barrel indirectly drives in rotation a bridge which carries part of the finishing train, the escapement and the regulating organ of the watch.
  • This rotating bridge is sized to rotate at a rate of one turn per hour and it is precisely this rotating bridge that indicates the minutes.
  • the main disadvantage of this type of indicating mechanism is that, several times during an entire turn of the barrel, the index which serves as an indication of the hours is not visible on the ice side, especially when the bridge rotating is aligned with this index and covers it completely. Even if reading the time by inference and experience remains possible in these cases, it nevertheless has the disadvantage that the reading is not quite intuitive and that it can be difficult for some wearers of the watch (eg the elderly).
  • This display mechanism comprises an index and a disc which are both movable, having the same axis of rotation.
  • the moving index indicates a first time information, such as the hours, on a fixed dial, as well as a second time information, such as minutes, on the moving disk which is driven so as to have a rotation speed relative to to the index.
  • the object of the present invention is therefore to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks and to provide a watch movement having an improved mechanism for indicating time information, in particular in combination with a new design of the watch movement.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a clockwork movement whose information-indicating mechanism makes it possible to read time information that is more intuitive and easier than the reading of information that is indicated using the mechanisms existing, irrespective of the display mechanism described in the Swiss patent CH 701 830 B1 supra.
  • Another object of the present invention is to provide a watch movement having an indicating mechanism by which the watches can be provided with an school-garde and modern appearance.
  • the displacement of the drive member which is necessary for the maintenance of the regulating member of the watch, can be directly translated into the movement of the index, without the need for a separate drive system. just for moving the index.
  • This solution therefore results in a simple and easy to manufacture mechanism.
  • no additional piece must be provided for the movement of the index. This results in an even simpler and easier mechanism to manufacture.
  • the clockwork according to the present invention has the advantage that a single index in combination with several separate dials can be used for the indication of several temporal information.
  • the problems related to the reading of the temporal information with the "Freak" mechanism described above are solved without the modern aspect of the watch being compromised.
  • the first dial is mounted so that it is stationary relative to the plate and the second dial is mounted so that it is movable relative to the plate.
  • a single dial must be moved for the indication of the first and second time information. Again, this makes the proposed mechanism simpler and easier to manufacture than a mechanism that would require two dial drive systems.
  • the driving member is a barrel.
  • barrel there is understood a cylindrical box closed or not by a cover with a wheel formed of a circular toothed disc which contains the mainspring and a shaft.
  • the advantage of this example of embodiment lies in the fact that the index is directly driven by the barrel movement. As a result, no intermediate piece is needed between the source of driving force and the indicator index.
  • the movement of the barrel (which inevitably follows a predefined temporal rule, induced by the watch regulator and the gear ratios) can be used to indicate the corresponding time information.
  • the first dial has the shape of an annular disc concentric with the central axis of the movement.
  • the advantage of this exemplary embodiment lies in the fact that the rotary movement of an index which moves around the central axis can easily be used for the indication of the first time information.
  • the disk is sized so that the radial distance between the index and the center of the movement is smaller than the inside diameter of the disk, although other dimensions are also possible.
  • the second dial has the shape of an annular disc concentric with the central axis of the movement and the outer diameter of the second dial is smaller than the inner diameter of the first dial.
  • the advantage of this embodiment of the invention lies in the fact that the second dial can be completely located in the opening left by the first dial. Thus, both dials can be positioned without interfering with each other. Similarly, an appropriate dimensioning of the first and second dials also allows the index can be positioned in the space left radially between the two dials.
  • the regulating member is mounted in the opening of the second dial.
  • the advantage of this exemplary embodiment is, among other things, that the visibility of the regulating member makes it possible to highlight the movement of the watch which uses such an indication mechanism.
  • the second dial has the shape of a circular plate concentric with the central axis of the movement.
  • This exemplary embodiment of the invention has the particular advantage that a second dial in the form of a circular plate makes it possible to deprive itself of the central opening which is present in the case of a second dial. in the form of an annular disc. This exemplary embodiment is therefore particularly advantageous if the watch movement is not visible from the outside.
  • the outer diameter of the second dial may be smaller than the inside diameter of the first dial.
  • the second dial can also be made of a transparent material.
  • the second dial does not have to have its outside diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the first dial so that the indication of the two temporal information is possible and another aesthetic appearance can be achieved without a modification of the Mechanism design is needed.
  • the second dial is made of a transparent material.
  • the indication mechanism according to the invention can be realized with a greater degree of freedom. Indeed, the transparency of the second dial allows its dimensioning more flexible.
  • the regulating member may in particular be a conventional balance spring, but also a tourbillon.
  • the solution with a tourbillon is obviously obviously more complex than the solution with a conventional balance-spring, but it also has a higher technical attraction.
  • the vortex may also carry a second index for the indication of a third time information (eg the indication of seconds).
  • a third time information eg the indication of seconds
  • the clockwork movement may comprise a gear train kinematically connected to the motor unit for moving the second dial.
  • the angular displacements of the second dial can be controlled in a desired manner.
  • the first dial bears the indication of the hours and the second dial carries the indication of the minutes.
  • the figures 1 and 2 illustrate a watch with an exemplary embodiment of an indication mechanism 1 of a watch movement according to the invention.
  • the illustrated watch comprises in particular a circle 5 which is secured to the first dial 12.
  • This circle 5 comprises a bearing surface 6, 8 and several threaded holes 7, 9 which allow its attachment to the middle part of the watch by screws.
  • the bezel ring 2, 4 comprises several threaded holes 3 allowing its attachment to the circle 5 by screws.
  • the bezel 10 is axially constrained between the circle 5 and the bezel ring 2, 4.
  • This bezel 10 comprises a hole 11 for making it angularly integral with the middle case bezel by means of a pin or a key .
  • the mechanism of indication 1 of the watch on the figures 1 and 2 comprises a first dial 12 and a second dial 17 which respectively bear the indications of a first and a second time information.
  • the first dial 12 carries the hours indications while the second dial 17 indicates the minutes.
  • the two dials 12 and 17 would bear other time indications, with corresponding adaptations at the level of the mechanism 1.
  • the Arabic numerals are used as indications and they are arranged on both the first dial 12 and the second dial 17. It is nevertheless obvious that other means of indication are also possible, including Roman numerals, divisions, etc.
  • the second dial 17 comprises a combination of Arabic numerals and lines for the indication of the minutes. Numbers or other means of indication may for example be glued on the dials 12, 17, engraved in the material of the dials 12, 17 or shown in another appropriate manner.
  • the first dial 12 is mounted so that it is immobile with respect to the circle 5.
  • the first dial 12 may in particular be fixed directly on the stage of the movement, but an embodiment of the invention in which the first dial 12 is fixed on an intermediate element is also possible. Similarly, it may also be envisaged to fix the first dial 12 relative to the middle part or another element of the housing 2, if the first dial 12 remains stationary relative to the platen of the movement.
  • the first dial 12 has the shape of an annular disc which is concentric with the central axis of the movement.
  • a first dial 12 in the form of a tray circular which is at least partially made of a transparent material so that it does not hide the central part of the watch.
  • Reference number 15 in the figures 1 and 2 represents an index which is movable with respect to the first dial 12 and which indicates the first time information (in the example of the figure 1 the hours) in combination with the corresponding indications on the first dial 12. To this end, the movements of the index 15 are induced by a motor member 14 of the movement. The displacement of the index 15 in the example illustrated in the figures 1 and 2 corresponds to a rotation around the central axis of the movement.
  • the motor member 14 of the movement may in particular be a barrel, with a motor spring.
  • a barrel generally consists of a wheel formed of a circular toothed disc and a cylindrical box closed by a cover. The barrel can also rotate freely on a shaft which is normally located in the center of the barrel. It also contains the mainspring which is attached to the barrel by its outer turn and to the shaft by its inner coil. It is however clear that the barrel can be replaced by any other equivalent element, without the main idea of this invention being abandoned.
  • the index 15 is integral with the barrel 14 (in particular, it may be an indication directly engraved, traced or glued on the barrel 14), but it is also conceivable to make this connection in a different manner.
  • the index 15 can be made on a circular plate attached to the barrel 14 by means of a mechanism by which the plate can rotate simultaneously with the barrel 14.
  • this index 15 it would also be possible to make this index 15 as a separate piece and to provide a kinematic train, driven by the barrel 14, for the movement of the index 15.
  • the barrel 14 is sized and arranged to move at a rotational speed of one revolution in twelve hours.
  • the index 15 which moves at the same speed can be directly used to indicate the hours on the first dial 12.
  • the second dial 17 is mounted so that it is movable relative to the platen of the movement.
  • the second dial 17 can rotate about the central axis of the movement of the watch.
  • this second dial 17 has the shape of an annular disc which is concentric with this central axis of the movement and its outer diameter is smaller than the inside diameter of the first dial 12.
  • Other shapes and dimensions of the second dial 17 are nevertheless also possible.
  • the second dial 17 may also have the shape of a circular plate which is also arranged to be concentric with the central axis of the movement. In this case, it can in particular be made of a transparent material, even if a second dial 17 in an opaque material is also imaginable.
  • the second dial 17 is rotated using a kinematic train.
  • the figure 3 with a cutaway view of the watch shown in the figures 1 and 2 , shows the most important elements of this kinematic train. In this case, it is a simple planetary gear, even if other drive mechanisms of the second dial 17 are quite possible.
  • This kinematic train is formed by the frame 25 which is constituted by the drum of the barrel 14, the satellite 26, the crown (which is not shown in section, but which is fixed with respect to the plate of the movement) and the sun gear 24.
  • a simple satellite movement is imposed on the satellite 26 by the ring gear and the rotation of the frame 25 (or the barrel 14).
  • the satellite 26 rotates the sun gear 24 which is secured to a cage which comprises the oscillator 22, the escapement 23 and several mobiles (partly not shown in the section because they are hidden by the oscillator 22).
  • the last of these mobiles meshes with the internal gear 28 which is also fixed relative to the platen of the movement.
  • the exact operation of the kinematic train and individual elements of this train is understandable for anyone skilled in the field of watchmaking.
  • the drive of the second dial 17 can be organized so that it moves at a predetermined speed with respect to the platen of the movement, and thus with respect to the first dial 12, and with respect to the barrel 14. It is also possible to turn the second dial 12 and the barrel 14 in the same direction (in particular the clockwise) or to rotate the second dial 17 in the opposite direction.
  • the first dial 12 the second dial 17 and the index 15
  • it can simultaneously indicate the first and the second time information, namely the hours on the first dial 12 and the minutes on the second dial. 17.
  • the index 15 indicates 10:30: the part of the index 15 opposite the first dial 12 is exactly in the middle between the indications of 10 hours and 11 hours, while at the same time, the part of the index 15 opposite the second dial 17 is aligned with the indication of 30 minutes on the second dial 17.
  • the reading of the time information (hours-minutes) with the indication mechanism 1 is therefore very intuitive and simple.
  • all indications on the first dial 12 and the second dial 17 are always visible so that reading is still possible.
  • FIG. 1 Also illustrated in figures 1 and 2 is the regulating member of the movement 20, represented by a sprung balance of the type known in the art. Nevertheless, it is absolutely possible to replace the sprung balance with another suitable regulating member. In particular, it is quite conceivable to use a vortex instead of the sprung balance.
  • a vortex is a device, well known in the art, intended essentially to substantially cancel the gaits in the vertical positions of the watch.
  • the vortex typically comprises a movable cage which carries all the organs of the exhaust and, in its center the regulating organ.
  • the escape gear rotates around the seconds wheel which is fixed.
  • the cage can do one revolution per minute and thus reduces the gaps in the vertical positions.
  • a tourbillon also has an aesthetic appearance that makes the vortices are currently used also because of this property.
  • a vortex may carry a second index for the indication of a third time indication, especially seconds.
  • the tourbillon cage can also serve as an indicator dial and carry the seconds indications.
