Definitions
- the present invention relates to a planar antenna according to the preamble of independent claim 1.
- microstrip directional antennae In addition to significant advantages in terms of dimensions, simplicity of manufacture and compatibility with printed circuit circuits, microstrip directional antennae also have a number of disadvantages, e.g. narrow bandwidth and low efficiency. The manufacturing technology used often did not meet the required environmental specifications, so that this type of antenna has so far been used only to a limited extent.
- EP-AO 253'128 describes a planar hanging conductor antenna arrangement which comprises superimposed substrates between a pair of conductive plates. Each plate has spaced openings that define radiation elements. A number of openings have at least one pathogen probe on the substrate. The signals received with these excitation probes are conducted in phase to a hanging conductor by means of conductor foils. Holders for the substrate are arranged around the openings. This supports the substrate evenly and cannot deform. A wide section of grooves is located on the printed circuit boards between adjacent openings, in which a number of hanging conductors are formed parallel to one another.
- This type of antenna is intended for high-frequency satellite broadcasts. Due to the simple structure, manufacturing costs can be reduced with high performance values.
- the radiation characteristic is only lobe-like, as is known, for example, from parabolic antennas from radar technology.
- S-strip microstrip
- S quarter-wave stub
- S base with slots
- F Foam
- IP inverted radiating antenna element
- the foam layer prevents surface wave propagation and increases the bandwidth.
- the object of the invention is to improve such an SSFIP antenna in such a way that the assembly allows a simpler and cheaper choice of material and the radiation characteristics can be adapted to the respective need.
- the antenna comprises four elements, namely a carrier plate 1, preferably made of glass or a fiber composite material, on which radiation elements 11 are vapor-deposited as inverted radiating antenna elements or can be applied by a printing process.
- planar radiation elements 11 are also called spots or patches.
- a foam insert lies behind these inverted radiation spots.
- the surface wave propagation does not occur to the extent expected, which means that this layer can be omitted. By omitting this layer, the subsequent slit radiation layer can be placed closer to the level of the inverted radiation spots.
- the embodiment according to the invention now provides for a foam layer 23, 24 to be introduced between the metallic layer 2 with radiation openings 21 and the stripline network 22 on the one hand and between the latter and a base plate 3 made of metal or a metal layer applied to a carrier.
- a foam layer 23, 24 to be introduced between the metallic layer 2 with radiation openings 21 and the stripline network 22 on the one hand and between the latter and a base plate 3 made of metal or a metal layer applied to a carrier.
- Polystyrene, polypropylene or polyamide is suitable as the foamed material.
- the foam layer should not only have a low density, but also a low dielectric constant.
- the two foam layers 23, 24 are preferably of unequal thickness.
- the respectively thinner layer 23 is on the coupling side and the thicker layer 24 is arranged between the stripline network 22 and the base plate 3.
- the carrier plate 1 is, on the one hand, a seal against the environment and bears the electrically conductive spots on the inside, which according to FIG. square and can be arranged at regular intervals from each other. These electrically conductive spots can consist of evaporated, laminated or printed metal.
- the coupling network 2 has a slot-like opening (coupling slot) (FIG. 8) in the metallic layer opposite each spot 11. This layer 2 lies on the foam layer 23. On the back of this layer 23 is the distribution network 22 (FIG. 9) with which the radiopacity of the coupling slots 21 is controlled. The electrical lines 22 required for this are located on the back of the foam layer 23.
- the base plate 3 forms a seal against the environment. It consists of metal or is designed as a metallic reflector.
- Layer 1 consists, for example, of easily disposable glass.
- the glass as a seal against the environment has the great advantage that it is resistant to all harmful environmental influences and can be easily cleaned if necessary.
- An antenna built in this way can also be easily and simply integrated into facades of high-rise buildings.
- the coupling network lies between foamed material and air and is held in this case with spacers in relation to layer 1.
- the antenna can be constructed from one or more elements (spots, patches). Several elements can be arranged either in one column or in several columns lying side by side.
- the proposed structure of the antenna now allows the main radiation direction to be aligned electrically at least in a limited area, so that the antenna plane can be set up independently of the main radiation direction, as FIG. 6 clearly shows.
- This enables the antenna to be mounted on the vertical walls of buildings.
- a side lobe 45 could be directed and reinforced in such a way that a remote area that was not irradiated by the main lobe 44 could be illuminated.
- the horizontal direction of radiation is generated at an angle of approximately +/- 30 ° with respect to the perpendicular to the antenna plane. Likewise, more than one desired direction of radiation is also possible in the horizontal plane.
- the patches are drawn square.
- geometrical shapes other than spots are also possible, such as, for example, circular surfaces, ellipses or rectangles or adjacent strips.

Abstract
Description
- Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht auf das Fleckenmuster,
- Fig. 3 eine schematische Darstellung eines schmetterlingsförmigen Koppelschlitzes,
- Fig. 6 die vertikale Ausbreitungscharakteristik bei unkorrigierter Abstrahlung,
- Fig. 7 die vertikale Ausbreitungscharakteristik bei korrigierter Abstrahlung,
