Description

The invention relates to a method for producing packaging for lumpy packaged goods, in particular for containers, the packaging consisting of a dimensionally stable frame structure with at least one open frame field, which supports the packaged goods on the bottom and secures them against displacement.

The generic method known from DE-U-80 02 686 works with an L-shaped pre-shaped angle bar which can be angled at locations assigned to the edges of the packaged goods. Deep-drawn plastic profiles are preferably used. Due to the unavoidable tolerances between the packaged goods and the angled strip closed for strapping, retaining straps are required to tighten the frame field on the packaged goods. Working with product-specific and format-specific blanks is complex and does not allow alternating packaging to be made of different sizes. The disadvantages mentioned apply to the method known from EP-A-0 313 721, in which a plurality of preformed packaging rods are put together to form a framework.

In the method known from DE-A-36 06 826, a stretch film with strong stretching and a protruding edge is applied to the packaged goods. Due to the tensions in the stretch film, the protruding edge lies against the packaged goods. This packaging does not form a stable frame. The cost of materials is also large, so that large amounts of waste arise when opening the packaging.

To produce the box-shaped packaging, the packaged goods are placed on the base part and covered by the cover part. To produce the box side wall, the arrangement is then wrapped with a side strip and protrusions of the side strip are glued to the cover part and the base part. This process has not contributed to the production of packaging that is based on a frame.

The invention is based on the object of developing a method of the type described at the outset such that work can be carried out in the manufacture of the framework without product or format-specific cuts.

To achieve this object, the invention teaches that a strip of stiff, stretch-free packaging material is pulled off as a flat strip of material from a supply roll, applied tightly with a protruding edge to the packaged goods and closed to a strapping, that the strip is then angled inwards into the bottom plane of the Packaged goods is folded over and that the overlapping sections of the projecting edge are firmly connected in the floor plane to form the frame field. In particular, cardboard is provided as packaging material, but other stretch-free materials are also fundamentally possible. The one that forms the strapping Strips of material are placed on the packaged goods and cut to a suitable length adapted to the packaged goods by means of a stationary cutting device. The material ends can then, advantageously after repeated tightening, be glued to one another or welded if thermoplastic materials are used. It is also advantageous if the strip drawn off from the supply roll is provided with a crease forming fold edges before contact with the packaged goods. Preferably, the strip pulled off the supply roll is also cut into the areas of the protruding edge at the locations assigned to the edges of the packaged goods before it contacts the packaged goods. Finally, it is within the scope of the invention to print or to emboss the strip pulled off the supply roll before it comes into contact with the packaged goods.

According to the teaching of the invention, the packaged goods undergo strapping with a protruding edge, at least in its lower region, which is then shaped in the manner described above by folding and gluing the overlapping sections to form a flat framework that supports the packaged goods on the bottom and secures them against displacement. Such packaging is similar to a so-called bottom tray. The method according to the invention can also be used to produce spatial frame structures with a floor frame and a top frame. Likewise, spatial frame structures can be produced by the method according to the invention, the bottom frame and top-side end frame of which are connected by supporting elements. For the production of spatial frameworks, the invention teaches that straps are made of strip-shaped packaging material with a protruding edge both on the head side and on the bottom side of the packaged goods and these are connected by support elements to form a spatial support structure. Cardboard strips, for example, can be used as support elements, which are glued to the end of the strapping. It is understood that the support elements made of other strip-shaped material, for. B. made of thermoplastic materials, and that, depending on the material used, other connection techniques for attaching the support elements come into consideration (z. B. brackets, welding thermoplastic materials and the like.). Preferably, strips of packaging material are used as support elements, which are applied at an angle to the edges of the packaged goods and are glued to the ends of the strapping.

B. Gebinde aus in Folienbeuteln eingesetzten Papierwaren (Papiertaschentücher, Babywindeln u. dgl.).The advantages of the method according to the invention are first of all to be seen in the fact that product and format-specific blanks are not required for the production of the packaging. The packaging material that can be removed from the supply roll allows extensive standardization. It is easy to pack containers of different sizes in alternation. The manufacturing process can be automated. The packaging produced by the method according to the invention also fulfills all practical requirements. The packaging produced by the method according to the invention ensures adequate protection of the packaged goods during handling and transport. The use of packaging material, based on the volume of the packaged goods, is small, so that small amounts of waste are generated by retailers and consumers. Finally, a significant advantage of the method according to the invention can also be seen in the fact that packaged goods with almost any shape can be packed by the method described. The packaging produced by the method according to the invention is not limited to packaged goods with solid straight edges, but is also suitable for cylindrical packaged goods, e.g. B. bottles, cans and. Like. And packaged goods with flexible irregular edges, z. B. Containers made of paper goods used in plastic bags (handkerchiefs, baby diapers and the like).

In the following, the invention is explained in detail with reference to a drawing that shows only one exemplary embodiment. The single figure shows schematically, in perspective, the method steps of the method according to the invention.

The method shown in the figure is used to produce packaging for packs from lumpy packaging elements, which is used as shipping packaging and shelf packaging for self-service shops. The finished packaging consists of a frame structure made of angular packaging elements and has at least one open frame field. In the exemplary embodiment, the frame structure is designed as a floor frame and, as it were, represents a tray packaging.

It can be seen from the figure that a strip 1 of flat packaging material, preferably cardboard, is pulled off a supply roll 2 and is applied tightly with the protruding edge 3 to the packaged goods 4, specifically to the lower region of the packaged goods. In the exemplary embodiment, the packaged goods 4 are a bundle of several packaging elements. In a next process step, the strip lying against the packaged goods 4 is closed to form a strapping 5. Finally, the protruding edge 3 is folded over for the purpose of forming angular packaging elements 6 and overlapping sections of the protruding edge 3 are glued to one another. It can also be seen that the strip 1 drawn off from the supply roll 2 is provided with a groove 7 forming fold edges before it comes into contact with the packaged goods 4. The strip 1 pulled off the supply roll 2 is cut to a suitable length by a stationary cutting device 8 arranged between the supply roll 2 and the strapping station. The strip 1 pulled off the supply roll 2 can also be cut in the cutting device 8 in the region of the protruding edge 3, namely at the locations assigned to the edges of the packaged goods. Finally, the strip 1 drawn off from the supply roll 2 can be printed in a printing station, not shown, and optionally also embossed. The figure shows that different container sizes can be packed alternately.

It is also within the scope of the invention to produce straps 5 made of strip-shaped packaging material with a protruding edge 3 both on the head side and on the bottom side of the packaged goods and to connect these by means of supporting elements, also made of strip-shaped material, to form a spatial supporting structure.
