Definitions

  • the invention relates to an ink writing device with a writing tip, an ink supply space and an ink regulator arranged between the ink supply space and the writing tip with a capillary ink channel for supplying ink to the writing tip and with a group of capillary compensation chambers which are delimited by transverse ribs and which are connected by a capillary channel , in particular the ink channel are connected to the ink supply chamber and are connected to a non-capillary ventilation channel which is connected to the ink supply chamber via a compensation chamber and a control gap adjoining the compensation chamber.
  • Writing instruments of this type are known from DE-PS 26 09 668 and DE-OS 35 30 906.
  • an ink supply is reliably held with the aid of the ink regulator without the use of an internal fiber capillary reservoir or a capillary cell.
  • the ink regulator picks up ink emerging from the ink reservoir due to changes in atmospheric pressure or temperature, thereby preventing ink from leaking at the nib.
  • a sufficient amount of ink is fed to the writing tip via the ink channel, so that when using different writing tips, such as hard or soft fiber pens, ballpoint pens or nibs, a smooth, uniform writing is possible.
  • the volume of the ink supply space and thus the largest possible ink supply is dependent on the volume of the capillary compensation chambers. If the ink supply space is too large, if the temperature or the atmospheric pressure changes, more ink can be displaced from the ink supply space than the compensation chambers can accommodate, so that there is an undesirable leakage of ink at the writing tip.
  • the number of compensation chambers and, accordingly, the axial length of the ink regulator is increased in the known ink writing devices to such an extent that the ink channel must be guided separately from the compensation chambers to the writing tip in order to ensure an adequate supply of the writing tip.
  • the ink channel is formed in an ink supply rod which penetrates the ink regulator centrally, making the manufacture of the ink writing device more expensive.
  • a fountain pen with an encapsulated in a sleeve-shaped fountain pen front part which has transverse to the longitudinal axis, eccentric ink ring chambers narrowing at the top of the ink conductor to the capillary spaces.
  • the ink ring chambers are connected to one another by a radial and capillary ink supply channel, a capillary transition being created at the narrow location of the ink ring chambers.
  • the ink ring chambers are connected to one another by a non-capillary, relatively wide ventilation channel.
  • a relatively wide, also non-capillary, second ventilation channel is provided at the transition of the ink supply channel into the ink supply space.
  • the air required to ventilate the ink supply space enters an air hole in the nib and moves along the ink supply channel via the second ventilation channel to the ink supply room.
  • the ventilation takes place here due to the narrow, capillary ink supply channel in a pulsating manner, whereby an economical spelling is to be achieved while avoiding the blotch.
  • the capillary transition from the ink ring chambers to the ink supply channel ensures that the ink routing is kept well moist and that the ink supply channel is constantly connected to the ink ring chambers so that the fountain pen writes immediately even after long periods of non-use. Ventilation of the ink supply space via the first ventilation channel arranged on the underside of the ink ring chambers is not provided.
  • the invention has for its object to provide an ink writing device of the type mentioned, which is easy to manufacture and can have a large ink supply space.
  • a further group of capillary compensation chambers adjacent to the ink supply space which are connected to the ventilation channel and each of which is connected with a capillary gap to an ink supply channel leading to the ink supply space and having a capillary gap that is less or not significant in comparison to the capillary gaps, and regardless of the control behavior of the control gap can absorb or release ink, the group of compensation chambers adjacent to the writing tip being cut through the ink channel.
  • the ink channel can cut the group of compensation chambers adjacent to the writing tip, whereby the manufacture of the ink regulator and the assembly of the writing device are simplified.
  • the length of the one adjacent to the writing tip Group of compensation chambers, which is bounded towards the ink supply space by the capillary control gap, including the writing tip connected to the compensation chambers via the ink channel, can without limitation be limited to a length for the entire compensation volume, which is necessary for an optimal supply of the writing tip with ink and favorable control behavior is particularly suitable.
  • the additional compensation volume required is created by the second group of compensation chambers adjacent to the ink space, each of which is connected to the ink space via a capillary gap and can therefore absorb or release ink independently of the control behavior of the control gap. It has been shown in practice that the combination according to the invention of the two groups of compensation chambers, which are connected separately from one another to the ink chamber, results in a very reliable, quick response and uniform ink flow regulating behavior, which is equally suitable for different types of writing tips. While the desired control behavior of the axial length of the group of compensation chambers adjacent to the writing tip sets limits, the group of compensation chambers adjacent to the ink space can be expanded depending on the desired ink space size, without the control behavior being adversely affected thereby.
  • the capillary control gap opens into the ink supply channel.
  • the ink channel can extend parallel to the ink supply channel up to the ink supply space.
  • the ink channel can consist of an axially parallel, radially outwardly open capillary groove, which runs within the compensation chambers and in the wall of the ink supply channel. This configuration contributes to a simple manufacture of the ink regulator and ensures an uninterrupted capillary connection from the ink supply space to the writing tip, which is not interrupted by air pockets can be.
  • the ink channel opens into a bore which is filled with porous material, in particular a fiber material, which surrounds the connecting end of the writing tip which projects into the bore .
  • porous material in particular a fiber material
  • the illustrated ink writing device has a cylindrical shaft 1 which surrounds the ink supply space 2 and is closed at its end, not shown.
  • An ink regulator 3 and a shaft front part 4 are inserted into the open end of the shaft 1 shown.
  • the shaft front part 4 is firmly connected to the shaft 1 and contains a writing tip 5 which consists of a fiber wick.
  • the writing tip 5 is held by ribs 6 arranged in a star shape, between which air channels are provided which have a cavity 7 in the interior of the front part of the shaft 4 connect with the atmosphere.
  • the ink regulator 3 consists of a body of cylindrical basic shape, the outer diameter of which essentially corresponds to the inner diameter of the shaft 1.
  • the end of the ink regulator 3 facing the writing tip 5 engages with a reduced diameter section 8 in the cavity 7 and has a central bore 9 into which the connecting end of the writing tip 5 projects.
  • the bore 9 contains a porous material consisting of fibers, which encloses the connection end of the writing tip 5 and ensures an effective ink flow to the writing tip 5.
  • the deformability of the porous fiber material serves to compensate for manufacturing-related dimensional deviations.
  • annular grooves are worked in, which are separated from one another by thin transverse ribs and form several groups of compensation chambers 10, 11, 12, 13.
  • the axial width of the equalizing chambers 10 to 13 corresponds to the capillary effect desired in each case.
  • the equalization chambers 10, 11, 12, it decreases from the writing tip 5 in the direction of the ink supply space 2 from group to group.
  • the width of the equalization chambers 13 in turn corresponds approximately to that of the equalization chambers 11.
  • the equalization chambers 13 In contrast to the equalization chambers 10 to 12, which are arranged concentrically to the cylinder axis of the ink regulator 3, the equalization chambers 13 have a common axis which runs parallel to the cylinder axis of the ink regulator 3.
  • the equalizing chambers 13 thus have an eccentric position, their greatest radial depth being in the image plane of the left half of the image and their smallest radial depth being in the image plane of the right half of the image.
  • the ink regulator 3 has a capillary ink duct 17 which extends from the ink supply space 2 to the most distant compensation chamber 10 and opens into the bore 9 within the compensation chambers 10.
  • the ink channel 17 is in direct connection with the compensation chambers 10 to 12 since it cuts through them, and is dimensioned so narrow that ink displaced into the compensation chambers 10 to 12 can be sucked off again via the ink channel 17.
  • the compensation chambers 13 are each connected to the ink supply channel 18 by a capillary gap 19, which is formed by their eccentric position.
  • the ink supply channel 18 is open to the ink supply space 2.
  • the ink supply channel 18 is separated from the compensation chambers 12 by a control gap 20, the width of which is slightly larger than the width of the ink channel 17.
  • the ink passes from the ink supply space 2 through the capillary ink channel 17 into the bore 9 filled with porous fiber material and from there into the writing tip 5.
  • the ink also fills the ink supply channel 18 during writing, whereby it is retained at the capillary gap 19. If the pressure in the ink supply space 2 decreases due to the consumption of ink, then air penetrating into the cavity 7 between the ribs 6 can pass through the ventilation slot 16, the annular channel 15 and the ventilation channel 14 into the control gap 20
  • ink If ink is displaced from the ink supply space as a result of an external pressure drop or an increase in temperature, it can penetrate into the compensation chambers 10 to 12 via the ink channel 17 and fill these gradually, starting from the top and progressively downwards. At the same time, part of the displaced ink volume can penetrate into the compensation chambers 13 via the capillary gaps 19. In this way, a comparatively large volume of ink can be stored in the compensation chambers 10 to 13 without the ink leakage behavior at the writing tip 5 changing.
  • the ink stored in the equalization chambers 10 to 13 is returned to the ink supply space 2 in the same way, since air can only get into the ink supply space 2 again via the control gap 20 when the ink runs out the compensation chamber 12 adjacent to the control gap 20 is suctioned off. If the pressure and temperature conditions do not lead to the emptying of the equalizing chambers 10 to 13, then the equalizing chambers 10 to 13 are emptied when writing, since the ink is first drawn off from the equalizing chambers 10 to 13 before there is a further inflow from the ink supply space.
  • the ink pen described can be easily and inexpensive to manufacture, since the ink regulator with its outwardly open longitudinal and transverse grooves can be easily manufactured as a one-piece component and does not require any special assembly work. This is made possible above all by the arrangement and configuration of the compensation chambers described, since a complex ink channel penetrating the ink regulator separately from the compensation chambers is not necessary.
