Definitions
- the invention relates, according to the preamble of claim 1, to a large-volume, wide-necked container for transporting, in particular, dangerous liquid or solid filling goods with a jacket flange arranged at the upper filling opening or in the vicinity thereof on the outer wall of the barrel body for the gas and liquid-tight fastening of a standard barrel lid by means of an overarching clamping ring.
- lid drums are generally known and find e.g. in the large chemical industry due to test approvals for different barrel sizes (e.g. 30, 60, 120 or 220 l capacity) application for a wide variety of products.
- These lid barrels usually have a slightly smaller barrel diameter in the upper and lower barrel area and the largest barrel diameter in the middle barrel area, so that empty lid barrels, especially when shipping overseas, cannot be stacked together in large numbers and therefore also result in high freight costs due to the large cargo volume.
- the barrel body has a smaller diameter in the area of its bottom than in the area of the upper filler opening and is provided in the area of its upper third with a step-wise step-wise diameter increase, the barrel wall from this diameter increase from steady and straight to upper barrel opening runs.
- the wide-necked container according to the invention can be optimally stacked in one another for transport purposes and therefore requires considerably less cargo space than transport barrels of the same size that cannot be stacked one inside the other. Due to the abrupt step-wise increase in diameter, the upper barrel, each stacked in a lower barrel, can be supported on the upper barrel edge of the filling opening of the lower barrel, so that several barrels stacked one inside the other are prevented from wedging into one another almost inextricably or only with great effort by two operators can be lifted off.
- this barrel according to the invention is excellent for optimal residual emptying, suitable for possible cleaning work and for purposes of reuse or multiple use.
- this non-generic rain barrel is a stationary container and is not suitable for transporting particularly dangerous liquid or solid contents, since the barrel is also not securely closable.
- the uppermost edge of the filler opening is flanged outward at almost a right angle and forms the support for a barrel lid that dips into the barrel opening and is supported on the flange edge, this barrel lid cannot be liquid-tight on the barrel opening by means of a clamping ring due to the lack of sealing options and differences in diameter of the barrel flange and lid rim be fixed.
- the lid has a non-closable central inlet opening for the rainwater to be collected and serves only to prevent particles such as leaves from falling into the barrel.
- Reference number 10 in FIG. 1 denotes the barrel body of a large-volume wide-neck container (lid barrel).
- the barrel body 10 has a smaller diameter in the area of the bottom 18 than in the area of the upper filler opening 16, it being provided with a step-wise stepped diameter enlargement 12 in the area of its upper third, and the barrel wall 14 of this diameter enlargement 12 runs from steady and straight to the upper barrel opening 16.
- the upper area of the barrel body 10 above the step-shaped diameter enlargement 12 - with a length less than or equal to a quarter of the total barrel height - is cylindrical up to the barrel opening 16, while the area of the barrel body 10 below the step-shaped diameter enlargement 12 down to the barrel bottom 18 is continuously tapered.
- the barrel bottom 18 is for better stability and to balance e.g. internal overpressure in the center of the bottom is convex or concave.
- the increase in diameter 12 from the smaller to the larger diameter of the barrel body 10 is three to six times, preferably about four times the thickness (thickness) of the barrel wall 14.
- the wall thickness is one made of plastic manufactured barrel about 4 mm, while the thickness of the barrel wall of a 220 l plastic barrel is about 6 mm.
- the stepped diameter enlargement 12 is preferably formed by an obliquely conical shape of the barrel wall 14 in the transition area.
- the standard lid 22 has an inner lid ring which engages in the barrel fill opening 16 and an outer rim which overlaps the barrel top edge 24 and has an outer flange 26 which extends essentially radially therefrom.
- a sealing ring 28 is arranged which, when the cover 22 is clamped by means of a clamping ring 30, seals the drum opening 16 against the upper drum edge 32 of the upper drum edge 24 engaging in the ring recess.
- the clamping ring 30 is expediently designed with the same legs and can be pulled up and clamped as desired without a special orientation over the jacket flange 20 of the barrel body 10 and the outer flange 26 of the cover 22.
- step-shaped diameter enlargement 12 is formed in the transition area by an obliquely conical shape of the barrel wall 14, this results in an outer contact edge for a stacked barrel on the inner top edge 32 as can be seen in FIG. 3 for several barrels stacked one inside the other. This leaves an air space between the inner wall of the lower outer barrel and the outer wall of the inner barrel stacked from above, so that the formation of negative pressure and mutual suction of the barrels with very difficult denesting is reliably prevented.
- the barrel body 10 is preferably made of plastic and is produced in a blow molding process with an upset jacket flange 20.
- the plastic barrel body 10 can also be produced by injection molding or rotary centrifugation. Another possibility can be that the barrel body 10 manufactured in the blow molding process and the peripheral jacket flange 20 is glued or welded onto the barrel wall 14 as a separately prefabricated part.
- the barrel body 10 is made of sheet steel and the barrel wall has at least one longitudinal weld seam or that the barrel body consists of kraft paper and is produced in the winding process.
