Description

The invention relates to a short inking unit for a printing machine, in particular for a printing machine that works with a hard printing form, processes high-viscosity printing inks, preferably offset printing machine, with at least one inking unit roller designed as an anilox roller and at least one chamber doctor blade arrangement associated therewith with at least one ink chamber, the circumferential side by two on a doctor blade holder recorded doctor blades offset in the circumferential direction of the anilox roller from one another and sealing jaws bridging on the end face by the doctor blades and resting on the anilox roller and can be supplied with ink which can be supplied via at least one inflow opening and at least one overflow opening can be removed.

A short inking unit of this type is known from DE 35 05 598 C2. This is an inking unit for a flexographic printing machine. The known arrangement would be very disadvantageous as an inking unit for an offset printing press. In the known arrangement, the inflow opening and the overflow opening are located approximately in the middle of the doctor blade holder. When processing offset ink, which is much more viscous than flexographic printing ink and comes into contact with water, there is a risk of water accumulation, the formation of air and steam bubbles and the formation of eddies in the ink chamber. This would result in emulsion formation and poor tone sensitivity.

Proceeding from this, it is therefore the object of the present invention to improve a short inking unit of the type mentioned at the outset with simple and inexpensive means in such a way that trouble-free operation and high quality are achieved even when processing tough colors which come into contact with water.

This object is achieved in that the overflow opening or openings is or are offset from the inflow opening or openings in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller.

These measures advantageously result in an ink flow in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller, that is to say with the anilox roller, in the ink chamber. The flow of ink through the ink chamber is therefore supported and evened out by the anilox roller. Accordingly, a vortex-free laminar flow can develop It is quick that no significant accumulations of impurities such as water, air and steam bubbles etc. can form. The evaporation of water is effectively counteracted by the cooling effect of the ink flow. With the help of the measures according to the invention, emulsion formation is largely prevented and excellent sound sensitivity is achieved.

The overflow opening or openings can advantageously be arranged in the region of the front corner of the ink chamber in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller. This not only relieves the pressure on the doctor blade at the front in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller, but also cools it particularly well.

A further advantageous measure can consist in that the doctor blade holder has a distribution chamber which is continuous over the doctor blade length and from which a plurality of inflow openings, preferably evenly distributed over its length, which are followed by a plurality of overflow openings, preferably evenly distributed over the length. These measures advantageously result in uniform conditions along the entire length of an ink chamber.

In a further development of the higher-level measures, the distribution chamber can be designed as a groove-shaped recess in the doctor blade holder, which receives a piston-shaped, extendable applicator bar that can be adjusted to the anilox roller and contains the inflow openings, whereby the applicator bar can expediently have a pocket open towards the doctor roller, into which the Inflow openings open. This allows a particularly good filling the cups of the anilox roller with the possibility of predosing the ink.

The pocket can advantageously have a cross section tapering in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller. This results in a positive inclined scraper edge, so that a comparatively thick ink film can build up on the anilox roller, which is very beneficial in achieving a complete filling of the cup roller.

Further advantageous refinements and expedient further training of the superordinate measures are specified in the further subclaims.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. The drawing shows:
Figure 1
a short inking unit according to the invention for a rotary offset printing machine in a schematic representation and
Figure 2
a radial section through the chambered doctor blade arrangement according to the invention.

The short inking unit on which FIG. 1 is based consists of a rubberized application roller 2, which cooperates with a plate cylinder 1 covered with hard offset printing plates, has the same diameter as the plate cylinder, and an anilox roller 3, which cooperates with the application roller 2, has a smaller diameter. In the case of the present offset printing machine the applicator roller 2 together with a dampening unit designated as a whole by 4. The circumference of the anilox roller 3, which is made of steel, is provided with cups 5 indicated in FIG. 1 and the webs 6 delimiting them. The cups 5 are filled with paint, the webs 6 are scraped off, so that there is an exact dosage of the paint corresponding to the capacity of the cups 5. The ink supply to the anilox roller 3 and the doctoring take place by means of a chamber doctor blade arrangement designated as a whole in FIG. A plurality of chamber doctor blade arrangements arranged next to one another, for example two chamber doctor blade arrangements 7 each comprising half a roller length, can be provided over the length of the anilox roller 3. However, it would also be conceivable to provide, for example, one chamber doctor blade arrangement 7 per width of the printing plates accommodated on the plate cylinder 1. The use of a plurality of chamber doctor blade arrangements arranged next to one another simplifies handling and enables the ink supply of the anilox roller 3 to be shut down zone by zone.

The chambered doctor blade arrangement 7 comprises, as can best be seen from FIG. 2, a bar-shaped doctor holder 9 which can be received on fixed supports 8 and on which two doctor blades 11 and 12 held by jaws 10 and offset in the direction of rotation of the associated anilox roller 3 are accommodated. The doctor blades 11 and 12 can be clamped using the jaws 10. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the jaws 10 together with the doctor holder 9 are intended to delimit a holding slot into which the doctor blades 11, 12 are loose, ie can be inserted without clamping. For this purpose, the holding slot mentioned has a clear width which is about 3 / 100mm to 4 / 100mm above the thickness of the doctor blade assigned in each case. This unclamped arrangement of the doctor blades 11 and 12 ensures that the doctor blades can expand in their longitudinal direction, provided that heating occurs during operation. As a result of this degree of freedom of the doctor blades, it is achieved that the doctor blades remain straight in the event of heating. The doctor pressure can accordingly be comparatively small, which has a favorable effect on the avoidance of wear. At the same time, the loose doctor blade arrangement simplifies the doctor blade change.

The two doctor blades 11, 12 offset from one another form the rear and front boundaries of an ink chamber 13 in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3, the radial boundaries of which are formed by the doctor blade holder 9 or the circumference of the anilox roller 3. The ink chamber 3 is closed on the face side by sealing jaws 27, which bridge the two doctor blades 11, 12 and rest against the circumference of the anilox roller 3. The sealing jaws 27 can be backed up by counterholders, not shown, to ensure reliable contact with the doctor blades.

The doctor blade 11, which is at the rear in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3, functions as a pre-doctor blade, which wipes off residues such as residual ink, water, dust particles etc. adhering to the peripheral section of the anilox roller 3 coming back from the contact area with the applicator roller 2. The Residues wiped off the doctor blade 11 are collected by a drainage channel 14 underneath it, arranged with a slope. The doctor blade at the front in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3 acts as the main doctor blade, which, after the inking of the periphery of the anilox roller 3 has been inked, scrapes off the webs 6.

With the desired reversibility of the running direction of the anilox roller 3, the doctor blades 11, 12 can be arranged symmetrically to an imaginary central longitudinal plane, i. H. be inclined towards each other in a roof shape, so that the doctor blade acting as the main doctor blade is set negatively, i.e. includes an obtuse angle with the circumferential section of the anilox roller 3 that lies behind in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3. In the embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3, both doctor blades 11, 12 rest against the circumference of the anilox roller 3 with a negative angle of attack, the direction of rotation indicated by an arrow cannot be reversed here. The negative inclination of the two doctor blades 11, 12 ensures that hydrodynamic interference does not occur in the area of the main doctor blade as well as in the area of the pre-doctor blade, even at high speeds of rotation of the anilox roller 3. The front doctor blade 12 in the direction of rotation can be set somewhat steeper than the rear doctor blade 11.

To ink the anilox roller 3, the ink chamber 13 is supplied with ink. For this purpose, as shown in FIG. 2, the ink chamber 13 can be connected to an ink pump 16 in a pressure-tight manner by means of a supply line 15 which is only indicated schematically. For this purpose, the squeegee holder 9 can have inflow bores opening out into the ink chamber 13 be provided, via which the supply line 15 is connected directly to the ink chamber 13.

In the example shown, a distributor chamber 17 accommodated in the doctor blade holder 9 is provided. This is designed as a groove-shaped recess in the doctor blade holder 9, which is closed on the roller side by an application bar 20 which is accommodated in a floating manner and which lies in the area between the two doctor blade blades 11 and 12 on the circumference of the anilox roller 3. The application bar 20 is provided with a plurality of inflow bores 19a, which are distributed uniformly over its length. These open into a pocket 21 which is provided in the region of the roller-side surface of the application bar 20 and is continuous in the longitudinal direction. The pocket 21 has a cross section tapering in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3. The front edge 22 of the applicator bar 20 in the direction of rotation accordingly acts as a positive scraper edge, which, however, can be passed through by a thick ink film due to the hydrodynamic forces which become effective as a result of its positive position. The application bar 20, which is arranged in a floating manner in the recess forming the distribution chamber 17, can be extended in a piston-like manner by means of the color pressure applied to its underside. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the extension of the application bar 20 is supported by a spring 23 which engages under it and is supported on the doctor holder 9. The distribution chamber 17 is accessible from the outside via a connection bore 18 opening outwards, to which the supply line 15 can be connected.

The ink pump 16 circulates the ink, the ink in the ink chamber 13 with a slight overpressure, which a good filling of the cells 5 is guaranteed. In order to avoid undesired printing and to achieve a color cycle, excess ink is discharged through one or preferably a plurality of overflow openings 25a distributed uniformly over the length. These are arranged near the front corner of the ink chamber 13 in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller 3 and are formed by bores of the doctor blade holder 9 opening outwards, to which a pressure-free return line 26 can be connected. The placement of the overflow openings 25a in the area adjacent to the doctor blade 12 results in a relief and good cooling of this doctor blade. The flow of the ink runs in the direction of rotation of the anilox roller, so that a vortex-free laminar flow can form. Impurities are quickly and reliably removed from the ink chamber with the ink, so that no accumulations can form in it.
