- Such a test device which has become known from DE-PS 26 18 295, is required in the case of residual current circuit breakers in order to test the functional reliability and readiness of the residual current release. This is achieved in that a current path, namely the auxiliary circuit, is closed by pressing the test button via a test resistor from one phase to the other, bypassing the summation current transformer. It is an imitated fault current that triggers the release of the residual current circuit breaker and thus releases the mechanism of the residual current circuit breaker.
