Beim Aufbringen der eine vordere und eine hintere Abkantung aufweisenden Druckplatte 20 auf einen Plattenzylinder wird die Druckplatte 20 durch Ausfahren der Teleskopfüße 9 in die richtige Höhenposition gebracht. Da aufgrund baulicher Gegebenheiten der Plattenzylinder meist ein Stück innerhalb der Seitenwandkontur des Druckwerkes liegt, ist ein Schwenken des Plattenhaltemechanismus 17 mittels des Schwenkantriebs 15 um die Achse 13 und ein anschließendes Ausfahren des Plattenhaltemechanismus 17 in nunmehr schräger Richtung mittels eines zweiten Teleskop-Antriebs 25, der den Plattenhaltemechanismus 17 mit dem Schwenkträger 14 verbindet, notwendig. Dann wird der Plattenzylinder in eine Stellung gedreht, in der die vordere Plattenabkantung der Druckplatte 20 in die bekannte Schnellspannung des Plattenzylinders eingedrückt werden kann. Danach wird das Vakuum der Sauggreifer 19 abgebaut, und die Sauggreifer 19 werden mittels des Drehantriebs 21 um die Drehachse 18 vom Plattenzylinder wegbewegt. Durch Drehen des Zylinders wird die Druckplatte 20 mittels der Anpreßwalze 22 auf den Plattenzylinder aufgewalzt, und am Ende wird die untere Abkantung in die Plattenspannschiene eingeschoben, welche die Druckplatte 20 sofort automatisch festhält.
