Eine Druckmaschine 100 (Fig. 1) weist mehrere Druckwerke 101 bis 106 auf, die in zwei Ebenen 107 und 108 übereinander und nebeneinander liegen. Die Druckplatten 8 enthalten auf ihrer Oberfläche eine Information, beispielsweise in Form eines Barcodes, aus der hervorgeht, in welcher der Obergabestationen 2 das Transportmittel 1 sie ablegen muß, damit sie dort von dem entsprechenden Transportmittel 30, 31, 32 oder 33 aufgenommen werden können. Der Barcode auf den Druckplatten 8 enthält eine Information über die Druckeinheit, das Druckwerk 101 bis 106, den genauen Platz, auf dem die Druckplatte 8 jeweils auf dem Formzylinder einzusetzen ist, und über die Drehrichtung des entsprechenden Formzylinders. Die Druckplatten 8 werden innerhalb der Transportmittel 1 und 30 bis 33 über kettengeführte Transportwagen 9 oder eingehängt in Kettengliedern einer Kette oder mittels Seilen oder Bändern transportiert. Die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 verlaufen senkrecht zu der Förderrichtung des Transportmittels 1 und sind innerhalb der Zwischenräume 109 unter den Seitenwänden der Druckwerke 101 bis 106 integriert. Oder die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 verlaufen, durch Abdeckungen von dem Bedienungspersonal abgeschirmt, senkrecht vor den Seitenwänden der Druckwerke 101 bis 106. In einer anderen Ausführungsform des Transportsystems verlaufen die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 zwischen den Druckwerken 101 bis 106 waagrecht oberhalb des Kopfbereichs des Bedienungspersonals in Richtung der Längsachsen der Formzylinder. Entweder ist in jedem Zwischenraum 109 ein einziges der Transportmittel 30 bis 33 angeordnet, oder es ist für jedes der beiden von dem jeweiligen Zwischenraum 109 aus zugänglichen Druckwerke je ein Transportmittel 30 bis 33 vorgesehen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen sind die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 mindestens innerhalb des Bereichs der Zwischenräume 109 hinter Schutzwänden angeordnet, vorzugsweise ist auch das Transportmittel 1 abgedeckt.
