Eine Druckmaschine 100 (Fig. 1) weist mehrere Druckwerke 101 bis 106 auf, die in zwei Ebenen 107 und 108 übereinander und nebeneinander liegen. In jedem der Zwischenräume 109 werden über Transportmittel 1 und 30 bis 33 Druckformen, beispielsweise Druckplatten 8, von Bearbeitungsstationen für die Druckformen zugeführt. Bearbeitungsstationen für die Druckformen sind beispielsweise Bebilderungsstationen, Vorrichtungen zum Stanzen, Perforieren oder Abkanten, Beschichten etc. Das Transportmittel 1 bildet ein primäres, die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 bilden ein sekundäres Transportsystem. Das Transportmittel 1 verläuft hier, zumindest in der Nähe der Druckmaschine 100, waagrecht in einer Ebene unterhalb der Druckwerke 101 bis 106, oder, wie hier dargestellt, oberhalb der Druckwerke 104 bis 106. Dadurch wird gewährleistet, daß es die freie Zugänglichkeit zu den Druckwerken 101 bis 106 nicht behindert. In Obergabestationen 2 werden die Druckplatten 8 von dem Transportmittel 1 den Transportmitteln 30 bis 33 übergeben. Die Druckplatten 8 enthalten auf ihrer Oberfläche eine Information, beispielsweise in Form eines Barcodes, aus der hervorgeht, in welcher der Obergabestationen 2 das Transportmittel 1 sie ablegen muß, damit sie dort von dem entsprechenden Transportmittel 30, 31, 32 oder 33 aufgenommen werden können. Der Barcode auf den Druckplatten 8 enthält eine Information über die Druckeinheit, das Druckwerk 101 bis 106, den genauen Platz, auf dem die Druckplatte 8 jeweils auf dem Formzylinder einzusetzen ist, und über die Drehrichtung des entsprechenden Formzylinders. Die Druckplatten 8 werden innerhalb der Transportmittel 1 und 30 bis 33 über kettengeführte Transportwagen 9 oder eingehängt in Kettengliedern einer Kette oder mittels Seilen oder Bändern transportiert. Die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 verlaufen senkrecht zu der Förderrichtung des Transportmittels 1 und sind innerhalb der Zwischenräume 109 unter den Seitenwänden der Druckwerke 101 bis 106 integriert. Oder die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 verlaufen, durch Abdeckungen von dem Bedienungspersonal abgeschirmt, senkrecht vor den Seitenwänden der Druckwerke 101 bis 106. Dadurch nehmen sie wenig Platz ein und behindern nicht die freie Zugänglichkeit zu den Formzylindern. In einer anderen Ausführungsform des Transportsystems verlaufen die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 zwischen den Druckwerken 101 bis 106 waagrecht oberhalb des Kopfbereichs des Bedienungspersonals in Richtung der Längsachsen der Formzylinder. Entweder ist in jedem Zwischenraum 109 ein einziges der Transportmittel 30 bis 33 angeordnet, oder es ist für jedes der beiden von dem jeweiligen Zwischenraum 109 aus zugänglichen Druckwerke je ein Transportmittel 30 bis 33 vorgesehen. Aus Sicherheitsgründen sind die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 mindestens innerhalb des Bereichs der Zwischenräume 109 hinter Schutzwänden angeordnet, vorzugsweise ist auch das Transportmittel 1 abgedeckt. In Höhe der Formzylinder weisen die Schutzwände Öffnungen für Entnahmestationen 7 auf. Bedienungspersonen oder Plattenhandhabungssysteme 6, beispielsweise Roboter, mit denen eine mit einem erfindungsgemäßen Transportsystem ausgestattete Druckmaschine nachgerüstet werden kann, entnehmen die Druckplatten 8, die jetzt bereits in der gewünschten Reihenfolge angeordnet sind, aus den Entnahmestationen 7. Vorzugsweise sind die Entnahmestationen 7 und die Transportmittel 30 bis 33 so ausgelegt, daß dort die verdruckten Druckplatten 8, beispielsweise im Wechsel mit gerade entnommenen, unverdruckten Druckplatten 8, wieder abgegeben werden können und über die Übergabestationen 2 mittels des Transportmittels 1 zurück zu den Bearbeitungsstationen transportiert werden können, in denen sie beispielsweise wiederverwertet werden.A printing press 100 ( FIG. 1) has a plurality of printing units 101 to 106 which lie on top of one another and next to one another in two planes 107 and 108 . Das Entsorgen der bereits verdruckten Druckplatten 8 kann entweder vor oder nach der Neubelegung mit neuen Druckplatten 8 oder im Wechsel mit einer Entnahme von neuen Druckplatten 8 aus der Entnahmestation 7 erfolgen. Das Transportmittel 30 übergibt an einer Weiche 11 die für die obere Entnahmestation 7 in der Ebene 108 vorgesehene Druckplatte 8 an ein örtliches Speichersystem 10. Das Speichersystem 10 ist so ausgelegt, daß die Entnahme der Druckplatte 8 sowohl automatisch durch das Plattenhandhabungssystem 6 als auch manuell durch den Drucker selbst erfolgen kann. Dadurch, daß das Speichersystem 10 als umlaufendes Speichermedium ausgebildet ist, wird dem Drucker die Möglichkeit gegeben, die Druckplatten 8 so zu entnehmen, wie es für eine optimale Plattenbelegung des Formzylinders notwendig ist. Eine geordnete Reihenfolge der Druckplatten 8 entsprechend dem Bedarf an den einzelnen Formzylindern läßt sich anhand des Codes der Druckplatten 8 daher nur dann herstellen, wenn das Transportmittel 1 als umlaufender Speicher fungiert, so daß es die Druckplatten 8 an den Obergabestationen 2 jeweils bereits in geordneter Reihenfolge empfängt.
