Definitions
- the invention relates to an X-ray image intensifier with a housing, an input screen, an output screen and electrodes for electron optics, in which the housing is constructed in several parts and at least one of the housing parts consists of an electrically insulating material.
- X-ray image intensifiers of this type are used for converting and amplifying the x-ray image into a visible image.
- Such an X-ray image intensifier is described in DE-AS 26 19 507, in which the housing consists of two housing parts.
- the housing part facing the exit screen, which encloses the anode and the electrodes with high voltage, is made of ceramic, while the other housing part is made of stainless steel.
- the electrodes are attached to the ceramic housing part and are carried, for example, by spacers.
- Such an X-ray image intensifier has the disadvantage that many parts are required to manufacture it, so that it is very expensive. In addition, the electrodes must be installed and adjusted very carefully.
- the invention has for its object to provide an X-ray image intensifier of the type mentioned, which has only a small number of components, so that its manufacture is simplified, and in which the electrodes can be mounted without adjustment.
- the object is achieved in that the housing parts made of an electrically insulating material are provided with support surfaces on which parts by Auf shrink are attached. This eliminates, for example, the brackets required for mounting the electrodes. Thanks to precisely defined contact surfaces and correspondingly precisely manufactured, stable electrodes, an optimally aligned electrode system is obtained without adjustment.
- Electrodes are attached by shrink-fitting as parts.
- the X-ray image intensifier and the subsequent optics and television device are held in a stable manner if a holder is attached by shrinking on.
- the electrically insulating parts made of ceramic - for example made of aluminum oxide - and the parts, for example the electrodes, made of metal, e.g. an aluminum alloy.
- a simple construction through the appropriate selection and shaping of the parts of the housing is obtained if the housing has a first tubular housing part made of ceramic in the area of the exit screen, with the carrier for the exit screen at one end and a first electrode by shrinking on at the other end are attached if in the area of the first electrode a second tubular housing part made of ceramic is vacuum-tightly attached to the first housing part, at the other end of which a further electrode is attached. Additional components can be saved if the second housing part is coated on its inner wall with a second electrode. The number of parts can be further reduced if the housing has only one housing part made of an insulating material, on the inner wall of which several electrodes are attached by vapor deposition.
- an X-ray image intensifier with a housing 1 shown, which consists of two ceramic housing parts 2 and 3 and a metallic housing part 4.
- the diameter of the housing 1 of the X-ray image intensifier extends from the first ceramic housing part 2 to the metal housing part 4.
- the metal housing part 4 can be made of stainless steel, for example VACON, and the ceramic housing parts 2 and 3 can consist of aluminum oxide.
- the input screen 6 which forms the end of the tube housing on the input side and in which, in a known manner, a luminous layer 8, which consists, for example, of cesium iodide (CsI), and a photocathode 9 are attached to an aluminum support 7.
- a carrier 10 is inserted into the opening of the ceramic housing part 2 for the output screen 11 and is brazed to the housing part 2.
- the exit screen 11 has an optically transparent pane 12, on the inside of which a luminous layer 13 is attached.
- the anode 14 is also attached to the carrier 11.
- the first ceramic housing part 2 is essentially tubular. On its side facing away from the exit screen 11, it is provided on the outside with a bearing surface 21, onto which the first electrode 15, which is made of an aluminum alloy, is shrunk by heating and subsequent cooling.
- the electrode 15 consists essentially of a perforated disc, the outer edge of which has a thickening which rests on the bearing surface 21.
- the first ceramic housing part 2 In the vicinity of the support surface 21 for the first electrode 15, the first ceramic housing part 2 is provided with an annular flange 16, through which the second ceramic, tubular housing part 3 is connected to the first housing part 2 by soldering. In the area outside the first electrode 15, the second housing part 3 is coated on the inside with a second electrode 17.
- the second housing part 3 On its side facing away from the output screen 11, the second housing part 3 has two contact surfaces 22 and 24 on the outside.
- the third electrode 18 is shrunk onto the contact surface 22 closest to the edge.
- This electrode 18 also consists of an aluminum molded part. It is plugged onto the front area of the housing part 3 and directed towards the front, whereby it first widens conically and then runs out in a ring.
- the metallic housing part 4 of the housing 1, which carries the exit fluorescent screen 6, is soldered to the other contact surface 24.
- the housing parts 3 and 4 are provided with bores which are provided for receiving the pump connection 19 for connection to the vacuum pump and the getter connection 20 for the getter pump.
- a perforated disk-shaped holder 25 is shrunk on, which serves to fasten the X-ray image intensifier in a housing (not shown). Furthermore, the subsequent optics can be rigidly connected to the X-ray image intensifier on the holder 25.
- the bracket 25 can also consist of metal. However, it can also be made from any shrinkable material.
- the electrodes are contacted to the outside in the case of the electrode 15 via the metallization of the soldered seam, in the case of the electrode 17 via the pump connection 19 and in the case of the electrode 18 via a special vacuum-tight bushing (not shown).
- the photocathode and anode receive their contact via the metal parts 4 and 10 of the housing 1 connected to them.
- an X-ray image intensifier is obtained which is made up of only a few parts.
- the electrodes len any fastening and holding means and largely special vacuum-tight bushings, whereby the susceptibility to leaks is reduced.
- the shrinking technique electrodes are obtained with a correspondingly precise dimensioning, which are arranged at a precisely defined point, so that an adjustment need not take place.
- the simplified structure and the secure fastening technology ensure a very vibration-proof system, the materials used (metal, ceramic) a largely unbreakable tube.
Abstract
