Definitions

  • the automatic control device for metallic coins, in particular coins, which is the subject of the present invention is intended for sorting, recognizing and authenticating all types of current or future French or foreign coins or metallic coins of dimensions similar, such as tokens for example.
  • the currently known parts control devices perform sorting by controlling the characteristics of the parts, either by mechanical means for the weight, diameter and thickness, or by electromagnetic means with sensors necessarily placed in an environment made of non-material metallic.
  • the device for controlling metallic coins, in particular coins, which is the subject of the present invention comprises means for scrolling the coins one by one along a predetermined path, and means for recognizing and authenticating the coins taking into account both the material, the thickness and the diameter thereof.
  • These authentication means unlike FR-A-2 542 475 which includes 3 detectors for determining respectively the material, the thickness and the diameters of parts, include an electromagnetic detector placed above the path of the parts to detect the air gap between the detector and the parts, which varies with the thickness of the parts, as well as the material and the diameter of the parts; the recognition and authentication means also comprise means for comparing the signal produced by the detector when the parts pass with recorded data corresponding to a model information characterizing each type of parts that can be accepted by the device.
  • the detector is placed, as is known per se from FR-A-2 542 475, in an eccentric position with respect to the path, so that the surface of the magnetic field of the detector cut by the part depends on the diameter of this one.
  • This device which has few mechanical parts, is very simple to carry out and does not require any complicated adjustment.
  • the large diameter of the circular toothed plate which is not limited in principle, allows a high number of teeth and spaces between teeth, which allows it to capture a large quantity of parts at each turn.
  • this device makes it possible to accept and authenticate two parts in the same space between teeth which constitutes a very significant progress compared to the current technique which required the separation of the parts one by one and which led to recognition errors.
  • the toothed circular plate, the fixed part and the circular edge are made of metal.
  • the circular toothed plate and the fixed part are entirely of frusto-conical shape from the center to the periphery.
  • This shape has the advantage of facilitating the insertion of the pieces between the teeth of the plate and of keeping them in contact with the circular border during their entire course, before the exit zone, in particular in the detection zone where this increases the precision. in the case of recognition of any very similar parts.
  • the device advantageously comprises a mechanical thickness limiting bar situated above the toothed circular plate, from the center to the periphery, between the bulk entry zone and the detection zone.
  • This limiter makes it possible to push back the parts which are not inserted in a space between teeth and to limit to two the number of those which can remain inserted there before reaching the detection zone.
  • the device advantageously includes an additional electromagnetic detector in the detection zone. This makes it possible to increase the precision of the recognition of coins in the case of possible types of very similar currencies.
  • This detector being in position slightly offset with respect to the first detector, the corresponding processing, carried out by the processor, allows a very detailed analysis for each part and consequently a finer discrimination between those very close in characteristics.
  • the device advantageously also includes an angular synchronization encoder coupled to the axis of the circular toothed plate.
  • This encoder which mainly provides synchronization of the sampling of the parts recognition measurements as a function of the angular positions of the plate, allows the device not to be sensitive to fluctuations in the speed of rotation.
  • the device comprises an automatic evacuation means of the parts mainly comprising two flaps articulated on the fixed part. In the closed position, they constitute part of the circular border at the periphery of the bulk entry zone.
  • the device also includes a mechanism for visual presentation of the pieces, lot by lot, located below the area outlet of the circular toothed plate. It consists of an inclined sliding plane onto which the pieces fall by gravity and a transparent rotating disc. The latter is provided, on its underside, with arms and two concentric crowns which slide on the plane and which determine sectors, in a central part on the one hand, to receive, each, the pieces of the same batch accepted by the processing processor and, in a peripheral part on the other hand, to receive any rejected parts of this batch. The latter are deflected beforehand by a retractable deflection barrier located in the normal exit zone of the circular plate and controlled automatically before their passage in order to form an extension of the circular border. A separate discharge opening by zone is also made in the upper part of the sliding plane of this mechanism.
  • This visual presentation mechanism makes it possible to show the batches of parts most recently thrown into the device in order to allow the control of their composition in the event of litigation.
  • the device comprises a retractable guide bar located upstream of the normal exit zone of the parts of the sorting mechanism. In the normal position, this bar constitutes part of the circular border which surrounds the toothed circular plate. In the retracted position, it lets the parts pass directly through a bypass outlet.
  • this arrangement makes it possible to temporarily compensate for any operational failures of the latter by keeping the parts control device in service in degraded mode, that is to say without visual presentation.
  • the device is equipped with an articulated hatch which, in the closed position, constitutes a part of the sliding plane situated in the peripheral part of the visual presentation mechanism. In the open position, this hatch discovers a bypass outlet.
  • This bypass outlet allows direct recovery of rejected parts as soon as they have left the sorting mechanism.
  • This embodiment of the device for checking metal parts comprises, in accordance with FIGS. 1 to 3, a frame 1 comprising a circular track 2 constituting a sliding plane.
  • the latter is largely surrounded by an equally circular border 3 inside which is inscribed a toothed circular plate 4, partially of frusto-conical shape in the center, driven in rotation above the sliding plane by a motor 5 by means of two toothed wheels 6 and 7 and a belt 8.
  • the truncated-conical part 9 forces the parts, as soon as they fall, to slide towards the peripheral part of the bulk entry zone.
  • a removable cover 10 is placed above the circular plate.
  • This cover is provided with a funnel 11, the base opening 12 of which opens onto the truncated-conical part of the circular plate thus forcing it to fall there, the pieces thrown loose, for example in a basket 13 open at its base just opposite the top of the funnel.
  • the internal shape of the cover is such that the parts entering are pressed against the frusto-conical part of the circular plate before being distributed between the teeth on the periphery thereof.
  • the circular toothed plate has teeth of small thickness and, depending on their dimensions, either one or two parts can find a place in the space between teeth existing between two consecutive teeth.
  • a mechanical limiter constituted by a bar 14 makes it possible to prevent parts from passing into the detection zone without being placed between two teeth of the plate.
  • the latter processes the analog signal supplied by an electronic oscillator on which the detector acts in variable impedance.
  • the variations of the signal in frequency and in amplitude due to the passage of a part under this detector are at the same time function of the diameter of this one, its thickness and the material which constitutes it.
  • This circular detector is located, on the one hand, above the place of passage of the part on the sliding plane 2 so that the air gap between detector and part results from the thickness of the latter and, d on the other hand, at a distance from the border 3 such that the part cuts the magnetic field of this detector as a function of its diameter.
  • the part influences by its material the apparent reluctance of the magnetic circuit which it constitutes with the half-pot in ferrite of the detector. It also acts by losses by induced currents produced in its mass.
  • the signal processing is repeated cyclically and continuously at a frequency such that the calculation of the variations in frequency and amplitude of the signal is carried out several tens of times during the passage of the part under the detector.
  • the results of these calculations are continuously compared to recorded data corresponding to a model characterizing each type of part that can be accepted by the device.
  • An angular encoder 17 directly coupled to the axis of the circular plate delivers around a thousand pulses per revolution which are used to synchronize the sampling of the part detection measurements and trigger the recognition processing.
  • Two articulated flaps 18 and 19 constitute the movable front part of the circular border surrounding the toothed circular plate. These flaps are automatically controlled in opening towards the front by the processing processor when the speed of rotation of the circular plate decreases.
  • a transparent disc 20 comprising three arms 21 and two concentric rings 22 and 23 connected by crosspieces 24, sliding in rotation on a fixed plane, receives, when it is stopped, the parts coming from the outlet of the toothed circular plate via a transition passage 25 on which the circular movement of the parts is transformed into rectilinear movement.
  • This transition passage which penetrates directly into the transparent disc, leads the parts to a sector of its central part 26 or of its peripheral part 27 depending on whether the deflection barrier 28 extending the edge 3 is retracted or not.
  • the processing processor controls the rotation of the transparent disc by a third of a turn so that the following sectors appear in front of the transition passage.
  • a bar 31 constituting a part of the edge 3 is retractable to allow direct evacuation of the parts by a bypass opening 32, in the event of the unavailability of the visual presentation mechanism for example.
  • a hatch 33 allows, in the open position, to deviate towards a recovery outlet, the rejected parts falling on the peripheral part of the visual presentation mechanism. This hatch being in the closed position, the parts remain on the sliding plane until they arrive at the outlet opening 30.
  • the device according to the invention is particularly intended for toll acquisition applications on motorways, at the entrance to parking lots and in all places where users have to pay an access fee or a tourist tax.
