Definitions
- the invention relates to a peristaltic pump with a housing having a pressure port and a suction port, a hose which is connected to both the pressure port and the suction port and bears against the inner wall of the housing, at least two squeeze bodies which can thus be moved along the hose that this hose can be squeezed through each squeeze body from the direction of the suction nozzle in the direction of the pressure nozzle, at least one or an elastically deformable tube or channel in the interior of the housing, which or by the movement of the squeeze body from the direction of its one end in the direction can be squeezed to its other end.
- an outer hose is provided which concentrically surrounds an inner hose.
- the inner hose is used for the actual media delivery.
- the space between the two hoses is constantly connected at both ends to a lubricant reservoir. As a result, a constant lubricant circulation can occur in this space during pump operation. If a squeeze body moves a little further on the hose, the cavity created within the lubricant creates a negative pressure.
- the lubricating liquid located in this space between the two tubes thus serves the purpose of ensuring that the inner tube does not remain squeezed together when the squeeze body acting on it has passed.
- EP-A-130 374 also discloses the use or cooperation of two hoses for appropriately supporting the pumping process. Here, however, the second hose is not actuated to create a vacuum, but rather is acted upon to produce a pressure cushion.
- the invention has for its object to provide a peristaltic pump of the type mentioned, which is simple in construction and in which the restoring forces can be activated by vacuum in the size desired with certainty.
- the peristaltic pump according to the invention is accordingly characterized in that one end of the tube or the channel is connected to the inside of the housing in order to generate a negative pressure, while the other end opens out to the atmosphere outside the housing.
- the invention is thus based on the knowledge that when the peristaltic pump is operated by squeezing this second tube together - in the same way as is done with the delivery hose - air can be forced out of the interior of the housing, as a result of which a vacuum is maintained in the interior of the housing or can generate.
- This second hose can be very small in diameter.
- the hose for the actual conveying does not need to be elastically deformable, since the vacuum created inside the pump housing causes the hose that serves to promote the media to straighten up again in its normal - round - cross-sectional shape when the squeezing body of the rotor acting on it comes on has passed the location in question.
- the second hose that is used to maintain or create of the vacuum inside the peristaltic pump can be arranged inside the peristaltic pump in such a way that the first squeeze bodies, which are used to squeeze the delivery hose together, can also be used as the second squeeze bodies, which are present for creating or maintaining the vacuum. This brings a considerable simplification of the construction principle of such a hose pump.
- the hose pump according to the invention can only function fully when the required negative atmospheric pressure has built up inside.
- the second hose is connected via a check valve to the atmosphere surrounding the housing, which opens in the direction of the atmosphere.
- the peristaltic pump When the peristaltic pump is not in operation, no air can penetrate into the interior of the housing, so that the vacuum present in each case is not lost, even if the squeeze body should not lie close to the second tube when the peristaltic pump is at a standstill, which is for the longest possible service life of the tube may be desirable.
- Such a hose pump delivers its full performance almost immediately.
- a further simplification results if the second hose is present within the wall of the first hose.
- the second hose is also laid at the same time. This ensures that the second hose is always in the correct position with respect to the first hose and thus to the existing squeeze bodies.
- a simple way of producing this second hose can be achieved if the second hose is formed by a cavity in the wall of the first hose.
- An actual hose wall for the second hose is therefore superfluous, since the second hose is then can only represent a channel-like opening and thus a recess in the wall of the first hose.
- the second hose or the channel-like cavity in the first hose is present in the hose jacket closer to the inside than to the outside of the first hose.
- the second hose must be arranged circumferentially in the first hose so that when the first hose is squeezed, its cross section is also fully squeezed together.
- the second hose will therefore preferably be present in the bending area of the first hose. Since it is also positioned more on the inside than on the outside of the first hose, it is present in the jacket region of the first hose which is maximally stressed when squeezed together.
- the jacket region surrounding this second hose will first tear inwards, so that the inside of this second hose is connected to the interior of the first hose.
- This has the great advantage that when the peristaltic pump is operated, the respective medium conveyed in the first hose emerges from the opening of the "second hose".
- the squeeze body When the squeeze body is operated, the medium conveyed in the first tube is pressed into and out of the second tube. This can be determined by suitable monitoring devices and the tube pump can then be brought to a standstill immediately.
- the second hose thus acts as a hose monitor for the main hose, as it lies in the area at maximum risk and can therefore immediately indicate that the main hose has cracks and should therefore be replaced, since it is still at full capacity at the moment It can be expected that the hose will be completely torn open in a more or less short time and thus destroyed.
- the peristaltic pump can thus be used when conveying food are already switched off before the main hose tears open, so that the conveyed food cannot mix with the lubricant present inside the hose pump. Peristaltic pumps can now also be safely used to convey food.
- a housing 10 of a hose pump has two connections, of which the - in the drawing - left connection as suction connection 12 and - in the drawing - right connection as pressure connection 14.
- the direction of rotation 16 of a rotor 18 present in the housing 10 corresponds to the counterclockwise direction.
- the two connecting pieces 12, 14 protrude through the upper region 20 of the housing 10 into the interior 46 thereof and are connected to one another by a hose 22.
- This hose 22 lies in the lower, circular-cylindrical pinched area 24 of the housing 10 on the inside of the housing 10 directly or indirectly via a cushion layer - not shown in the drawing.
- the runner 18 and its crushing bodies 26 which are present on it and are in contact with the tube in a squeezing manner each form a cylindrical outer surface 30 which sealingly abuts the end walls of the housing 10 which lie parallel to the plane of the sheet.
- the above components correspond to the components known from known peristaltic pumps.
- the wall 31 of the hose 22 present in the interior of the housing 10 has a channel-like opening 32 which is present parallel to the longitudinal axis 34 thereof.
- the channel-like opening 32 is oriented closer to the inside 36 than to the outside 34 of the wall 31. In terms of its circumference, it is also arranged in such a way that it is located in the bending region 40 of the hose 22, on the left in FIG. 3, in which the cross section of the hose is deflected by 180 degrees by the force 42 of the squeeze body 26 and is thus subjected to a maximum load.
- This channel-like opening 32 of the hose 22 has an opening 44 in the area of the suction nozzle 12, which opens into the interior 46 of the housing 10, in the upper area thereof.
- the channel-like opening 32 has an airtight connection with an outlet channel 50, which exits to the atmosphere with its other end outside the housing 10, whereby it pierces the sealing ring 52.
- the pressure connection 14 has at its upper end an external thread 54, on which a union nut 56 is screwed against the sealing ring 52 and against the upper region 20 of the housing 10.
- the suction nozzle 12 is also attached to the housing 10 and thus also to the hose 22. Only the suction nozzle 12 does not have the outlet opening 50, since there the channel-like opening 32 opens into the interior 46 of the housing 10 through the opening 44.
- the peristaltic pump according to FIGS. 1 to 3 works as follows.
- the hose pump could thus be switched off at a time when the hose 22 would still be intact per se and at which no mixing between the lubricant present in the interior of the housing 10 and the soup or the like to be conveyed - for example - could occur.
- Such a peristaltic pump could thus be used without hesitation in the food sector in terms of food law.
