Definitions
- the invention relates to a folder according to. the preamble of claim 1.
- a signature transport device known from EP 0 205 116 A2 has a belt (or strap) transport which signatures one after the other transported to a delivery station. At the Delivery station will be the signatures in pockets transfer of a paddle wheel. The paddle wheel then transports the signatures onto a delivery belt or (tape) transport.
- a horizontally arranged sheet transfer arrangement for transferring a sheet from a first transport device to a second transport device is already known from DE-AS 1 074 966.
- a temporary longitudinal stiffness of the sheet is achieved by arching the sheet and passing it to a fixed guide which maintains the arch of the sheet until it is transferred to the second transport device.
- the object of the present invention is a folder according to. to propose EP 0 205 116 A2, in which the operating speed is improved. This object is achieved by the features according to claim 1.
- the present invention provides a new, improved one Signature transport device in front of which a first means of transport a delivery station includes, at which the signatures on a second Means of transport are transferred. To the speed with which the signatures between can move the means of transport increase, one or more deformations formed in the signatures to stiffen them. There is thus a deforming device on the Delivery station of the first means of transport, which successive deformations between the front and rear end portions of the signatures forms.
- the deforming device Since it is desired to use the signatures after the Transfer from the first to the second means of transport to be free from deformation the signatures through the deforming device resiliently deformed so that temporarily Deformations occur, which disappear again, after the signatures come out of the deforming device have moved out. So that Deformations in the signatures during their High speed transportation between the means of transport is preserved, the deforming device at a distance from the second Transport means attached, which is less than the distance between the front and rear End part of a signature. Thus, during the movement of a front part of the signature through the space between the two modes of transport and its initial contact with the second means of transport a rear part of the signature in the forming device.
- a Auslenkfalzapparat 10 (Fig. 1) comprises one signature-forming section 12 and a signature-transporting Section 14.
- the signature-forming Apparatus 16 in the signature-forming section 12 can be operated for folding and Cutting a sheet material web running in the longitudinal direction 18.
- the signature-forming apparatus 16 has former rolls 22 which have a former 19 cooperate to in a known manner a longitudinal fold in to form the web 18.
- Press rolls 24 and 26 press on the web 18 to the in the longitudinal direction to further develop the preliminary fold in the web 18.
- the pre-folded web is fed through insertion rollers 30 transported to the cutting cylinders 32 and 34. During each revolution of the cutting cylinder 32, 34, cut or separate knives Web in a direction perpendicular to the pre-fold Direction to signatures 40 in a known manner (Fig. 4) to form.
- Each signature 40 has a closed one or pre-folded edge part (42) (Fig. 4), which is located opposite an open-edged part 44.
- the signature 40 has a leading end part 46 and a rear end portion 48 while these are out the cutting cylinders 32 and 34 moved out. If the signature 40 the cutting cylinder 32 and 34 leaves, the main part is their opposite outer side surfaces 52 and 54 flat.
- the signature transport device 14 comprises two display sections, i.e. a left display section 58 and a right display section 60 (see Fig. 1).
- the left display section 58 includes a first or belt feed 64, which the from the signature-forming apparatus 12 received signatures accelerated to their front and separate rear end parts.
- Deflection rollers 68 and 70 point every other signature to the left display section 58 and a second transport device or a paddle wheel 74.
- FIG. 1 acts a first or tape feed 76 with the Belt transport 64 together to the of the Cutting cylinders 32 and 34 received signatures Accelerate 40 consecutively.
- the deflection rollers 68 and 70 enable the first or Belt transport 76, every other signature in the sequence to a second means of transport or To convey paddle wheel 78.
- deflection rollers 68 and 70 receive one even stream of signatures from that Cutting cylinders 32 and 34.
- the signatures are accelerated by the interaction between the belt transports 64 and 76 to the Signatures before they enter the gap between to split the deflection rollers 68 and 70 a little.
- Deflection rollers 68 and 70 rotate in a timing relationship with the cutting cylinders 32 and 34 and align the signatures alternately on the left and right display sections 58 and 60. So if a signature from the deflection rollers 68 and 70 on the left delivery section 58 is directed, then the next following Signature directed to the right display section 60.
- deflection rollers 68 and 70 are in the Position, as shown in Fig. 1, then these able to put a signature on the left Deflect delivery section 58. If the deflection rollers 68 and 70 from that shown in FIG. 1 Position have been rotated 180 degrees, then are able to put a signature on the deflect right display section 60: Art and the way in which the deflection rollers 68 and 70 interact to create signatures sequentially the left and right display sections 58 and 60 judging is known and will not continue here described in order to avoid proliferation.
- the first or belt transport 64 in the left Display section 58 comprises several spaced apart relatively narrow upper ones located from each other Bands 82 which are connected to the main part of a side surface (54) a signature (40) are in contact. Likewise, there are several, spaced from each other located relatively narrow lower bands 84 with the main part of the opposite side surface (52) a signature 40 in contact. The signature 40 becomes between bands 82 and 84 captured and controlled by them and with relative moving at high speed.
- the second transport means 74 is a rotatable one Paddle wheel.
- the paddle wheel 74 receives the signatures 40 of the belt transport 64.
- the belt conveyor 64 is a delivery station 88 (FIG. 2) where the signatures from the first or tape transport 64 on the second means of transport or Paddle wheel 74 are transmitted. If desired, can the belt transport 64 and / or the paddle wheel 74 by other known types Means of transport to be replaced.
- the paddle wheel 74 has an all-round arrangement Row of pockets 92 (Fig. 2), which are extend radially outward from a hub 94.
- the pockets 92 are of adjacent Buckets or wheel elements 96 are formed.
- the Wheel elements 96 cooperate so that they form outer end portions 100 of pockets 92. This move open outer end portions 100 of pockets 92 yourself in the round, as if by a dashed line Line 104 indicated in FIG. 2.
- the axis of rotation of the paddle wheel 74 extends perpendicular to the longitudinal axes of the bands 82 and 84.
- a signature 40 is shown schematically in the in a manner indicated in FIG. 2 in a pocket 92 moves in, the front end portion 46 pushes the signature through the open outer end 100 of the Bag. While the paddlewheel 74 turns clockwise continues to rotate, as shown in Fig. 2, moves the tape transport 64 after the signature 40 down into a pocket 92 at a speed which is higher than the speed at which the paddle wheel 74 the bag from the delivery station 88 moved away.
- the rear end part is moved by the belt transport 64 released at the delivery station 88.
- the signature 40 then falls freely down into the Pocket 92 under the combined influence of their moment of motion and their gravity. While the free fall of the signature 40 into the pocket 92, touches the front end portion 46 of the signature closed inner end portion or bottom 112 the pocket 92.
- the belt conveyor 76, the paddle wheel 78 and a delivery belt conveyor 116 in the right Display section 60 act together in the same Way like this up here for tape transport 64, the paddle wheel 74 and the delivery belt transport 108 of the left display section 58 is described.
- So signatures move 40 sequentially from a delivery station 120 (FIG. 1) of the belt conveyor 76 in the pockets of a rotatable Paddlewheel 78.
- the signatures 40 are from the paddle wheel 78 to the delivery belt transport 116 transmitted.
- a deforming device 126 ( Figures 1, 2 and 3) at the delivery station 88.
- Die Deforming device 126 stiffens the signatures 40, by creating a deformation 132 (Fig. 4) in each Signature forms.
- Deformation 132 extends from the front end part 46 to the rear end part 48 of the signature 40.
- the deformation 132 stiffened the signature 40 and causes it to be closed stays and does not sag during their Movement from delivery station 88 to the Paddle wheel 74 (Fig. 1). Without deformation 132 the signature 40 tends to sag and / or her front end 46 to open while she from delivery station 88 to paddle wheel 74 is moved.
- the exact speed at which one deformed signature 40 from the first means of transport 64 moved to the second transport 74 can be due to many factors vary.
- the speed at which the deformed signature between the Moving means of transport fluctuate due to different thickness and / or flexibility of the Material of the signature.
- the Speed with which this between the Means of transport can be moved significantly be increased. Since many factors affect the speed, with which signatures 40 from the tape transport 64 are fed to the paddle wheel 74, can influence, it should be understood that the present invention is not limited to any particular Signature delivery speed limited.
- the deformation 132 signatures 40 stiffened so that these sequentially with a relatively high Speed of the belt transport 64 on the Paddle wheel 74 should be able to be transferred the signatures smooth side surface main parts 52 and 54 when they come out of the folder 10 come. That is, the deformation 132 is temporary and disappears after the signature 40 has moved into the impeller 74.
- the deformation 132 disappears again, there is an elastic bending of the signature 40 through the deforming device 126, one that this is folded or deformed. After the signature 40 completely pass through the deforming device 126 has the natural elasticity of the signature forming sheet material that this is in the restores the original shape. The deformation So 132 will dwindle, make the signature 40 has left the deforming device 126.
- Deformation 132 remains in the signature 40 as long as this is in the deforming device 126, where the material of the signature 40 bent elastically and maintain the deformation 132 becomes.
- the opening 100 (FIG. 2) to a paddle wheel pocket 92, which is to receive a signature 40, is located at a distance from the deforming device 126, which is significantly less than that Distance between the front and rear end parts 46 and 48 of signature 40. That is why Signature 40 still with the deforming device 126 in contact when this is in a pocket 92 of the Paddle wheel 74 enters.
- the deforming device 126 the deformation 132 in the signature 40 maintain and keep them stiff during their front end portion 46 through the space between the belt conveyor 64 and the paddle wheel 74 moves.
- the controlled feeding of a signature 40 into one Paddle wheel bag 92 can be improved by maintaining deformation 132 during most of the time the Signature 40 moves into the pocket. Accordingly the deforming device 126 is close to orbit 104 of the outer end or the Tips 136 (FIG. 2) of the blade elements 96 it is possible that a signature 40 for the much of the time in which this from the Delivery station 88 is fed to a pocket 92, remain in contact with the deforming device 126 can.
- the deforming device 126 leaves more than 50% of the signature length between the front and rear end portion 46 and 48 of signature 40 in a pocket 92 of the paddle wheel 74 is added his. This means that the deformation 132nd during most of the time of submitting a signature 40 in a pocket 92 from the deforming device 126 is maintained so that the signature 40 remains relatively stiff and easy to control.
- the deforming device 126 projects between the Bands 82 (see Fig. 3) to the deformation Form 132 in the signature 40.
- the deforming device 126 can be any of the known Be executions.
- the invention has the deforming device 126 a shaping roller 140.
- the shaping roller 140 has an immobile steel beam 142 with cylindrical band support segments 144.
- the metal support 142 also has intermediate cylindrical segments 146 with a relatively small diameter, which arranged coaxially between the band support segments 144 are.
- the forming roller 140 turns over an axis that is parallel to the axis of rotation of the paddle wheel 74.
- each Band support segment 144 is with one side a band 82 in contact.
- the band support segment 144 presses the opposite side of the Band 82 against the main part of a side surface 54 a signature 40 (FIG. 3).
- the surface speed of the band support segment 144 and the Transport speed of the belt 82 is that same so that there is no slip between the Band support segment 144 and the band 82 there.
- the forming roller 142 126 is in a timing relationship with a Belt support roller 150 driven for the belts 84.
- the metal belt support roller 150 is cylindrical Band support segments 152 which are in contact with the bands 84 are. It should be understood that even if the forming roller 140 and the Belt support roller 150 in Fig. 3 as perpendicular after each other, they actually appear are separated vertically from each other, as in Figures 1 and 2 shown. But the rollers 140 and 150 can be aligned vertically, if desired.
- the forming roller 140 and the belt support roller 150 are made by meshing gears (156 and 158 (Fig. 3) in a timing ratio to each other with the same surface speed turned.
- the gears 156 and 158 are on support bearing end parts 160 and 162 of the rollers 140 and 150 attached.
- the support bearing end parts 160 and 162 are from an end wall 164 of the Folder 10 worn.
- the opposite End parts of the rollers 140 and 150 are rotatably supported by fixed pins 166 and 168, which have a second side wall 170 of the folder 10 are connected.
- the cylindrical embossing segment 174 On the forming roller 140 is a cylindrical one Molding segment 174 for contact with the Signature 40 between the bands 82 outstanding arranged.
- the cylindrical embossing segment 174 has a larger diameter than that Supporting and intermediate segments 144 and 146 of the Deforming roller 140 and is in a coaxial relationship arranged with these.
- the cylindrical Embossing segment 174 has a radius which is greater than the radius of the belt support segment 144 and the thickness of the band 82 together.
- the embossed segment 174 projects over the Tapes 82 to elastically bend the signature and the deformation 132 in FIG. 3 shown way to form.
- the stamping segment 174 can turn elastically to a temporary To form deformation 132 in the signature there is the outside of the embossing segment 174 made of a flexible, balancing material, which does not fold the signature 40.
- the embossing segment 174 on enough pressure the signature 40 in order to bend it elastically and so to form the deformation 132. Since the Signature 40 is deformed as long as this with the Embossing segment 174 is in contact, the remains Deformation 132 in the signature 40 until this moved out of the handle of the embossing segment Has.
- the embossing segment 174 is on one part the support roller 142 with a relatively small diameter arranged. So the embossing segment 174 formed on part of the carrier roller 142, which is the same diameter and that has the same axial dimension as an intermediate segment 146 of the carrier roller 142.
- the embossing segment 174 has an annular, polymeric body or support ring 180 (Fig. 5), which is attached to the support roller 142 and rotates with it.
- the support ring has 180 a cylindrical outer surface 182 with a radius, which is roughly equal to the entire radius a band support segment 144 (Fig. 3).
- An elastic, pliable crown segment 186 (Fig. 5) is attached to the support ring 180 and rotates with this and the forming roller 140. Crown segment 186 has an outer radius larger than the radius of the belt support segment 144 and the thickness of the band 82 together when it attached to surface 182 of support ring 180 is. There is enough distance between the Bands 82 so that the embossing segment 174th can protrude from the ligaments to the deformation Form 132 in the signature 40.
- the crown segment 186 comes with the successive ones Signatures 40 in contact. around to form the deformations 132.
- the cylindrical Crown segment 186 is in a coaxial relationship arranged with the support ring 180.
- the crown segment 186 is compliant in the radial direction, see above that a signature 40 is deformed in an elastic manner can without this deformation in the signature 40 remains.
- the compliant crown segment 186 has one cylindrical inner layer 190, which shields and coaxial with the support ring 180.
- the cylindrical inner layer 190 consists of cloth or tissue.
- the inner layer 190 is on that Support ring 180 by means of a cylindrical Adhesive layer 192 attached.
- a cylindrical outer layer 196 (Fig. 5) runs coaxially with the cylindrical inner layer 190 and shields them.
- the cylindrical outer layer 196 consists of cloth or fabric, which, at least to some extent, compliant is.
- the outer layer 196 is a kind Hook-and-loop fastener 198, which between these two layers is arranged, releasable bonded to the inner layer 190.
- the Hook-and-loop fastener 198 can be released to the outer layer 196 from the inner layer 190 to separate and the outer layer 196 to replace if this is due to contact with the Signatures 40 is worn.
- the hook-and-loop fastener 198 has a plurality of hooks 202 which are fixedly connected to the inner layer 190 and directed radially outwards.
- the fastener 198 also has a plurality of loops 204 which are fixedly connected to the outer layer 196 and directed radially inwards.
- the hooks 202 are releasably connected to the loops 204 to connect the inner and outer layers together.
- the hooks 202 and loops 204 are made of a synthetic material, which causes them to adhere to one another when pressed together.
- hooks 202 have been shown projecting outward from the inner layer 190 and the loops 204 have been shown as projecting inward from the outer layer 196, their positions could also be reversed; that is, the hooks could protrude inward from the outer layer 196 and the loops could protrude outward from the inner layer 190 if desired.
- This type of hook and loop fastener 198 is a well known design and commercially available under the trademark "VELCRO".
- the hook-and-loop fastener 198 can be compressed, at least to some extent, so that the outer layer 196 yields or under the influence of forces transmitted to the outer layer 196 during the formation of the deformation 132 Inner layer 190 moved.
- the crown segment 186 has a cylindrical one Outside 208, which with the signature 40 in Contact comes (Fig. 5).
- This outside is 208 flexible to prevent those in the signature 40 formed deformation 132 is a permanent one.
- the cylindrical outside 208 becomes elastic bendable loops 210 formed by the outer layer 196 protrude radially outward.
- the loops 210 are of the same nature like loops 204 of fastener 198.
- the cylindrical outside 208 of the crown segment 186 leaves a minimal mark in signature 40.
- other types can be Crown segments are used if desired although the nature described herein preferred to the elastic outside 208 becomes.
- the stamping segment 174 a chrome wheel, a round brush round plastic wheel, etc. if desired.
- the outside 208 of the crown segment 186 moves with higher surface speed than the signature 40. That's why there is in the formation of the deformation 132 slip or shifted contact between the outside 208 of the crown segment 186 and the main part a side surface 54 of a signature 40 (FIGS. 3 and 4).
- This slip causes a kind of yielding, striking contact between the crown segment 186 (Fig. 5) on the embossing segment 174 and a signature 40 to make it elastic turn without permanently deforming them.
- crown segment 186 of the embossing segment 174 allows the Outer layer 196 slightly from inner layer 190 can be separated if the outer layer 196 is worn out.
- the hook-and-loop fastener So 198 can easily be solved to get the worn out Outer layer 196 from the inner layer 190 to remove. A new outer layer can then with said fastener 198 with ease reconnected to the inner layer 190 become.
- the crown segment 186 could also be different be trained if desired. It will be too other known designs of a deforming device considered.
- the deforming device a fixed part for elastic Deforming the signatures.
- Deformation device 126 forms a single stamping segment 174 a single wave deformation 132 in a signature 40.
- FIG. 6 of the invention are a plurality of Embossed segments provided to form a Multiple deformations in each signature 40. Since this embodiment shown in Fig. 6 that shown in Figures 1 to 5 substantially same, the same reference numerals are used for the determination same parts used, the additional Letter “a” refers to the parts in Fig. 6 relates to avoid confusion.
- a shaping device 126a comprises a shaping roller 142a with a plurality of stamping segments 174a.
- the cylindrical embossed segments 174a jump radially from cylindrical Band support segments 144a further outward than the thickness of a radial cylindrical Band support segment 144a and the thickness of a band 82a together.
- the shaped embossed segments thus jump 174a between the ones in the distance tapes 82a located from each other and form a multitude of deformations in one Signature, which is spaced between each other whose front and rear end portion run.
- three embossing segments 174a in FIG. 6 shown. can be a larger or smaller number of embossed segments are used if desired.
- each of the die embossing segments 174a has the same quality as the stamping segment 174.
- each stamping segment 174a has one polymeric support ring, which on a metal Carrier roller 142a is attached.
- One of the Crown 186 in Figure 5 is the same elastic crown connected to each of the support rings.
- Each of the crowns has an inner and outer layer, through Hook-and-loop fastener detachable with each other connected.
- the crowns have one of loops - similar to the loops in Fig. 5 - formed outside.
- the present invention provides a new, improved one Signature transport device 14 in front which is a first means of transport 64 a delivery station 88 includes on which signatures 40 a second means of transport 74 are transmitted.
