Definitions
- the invention is based on a hydrostatic drive according to the preamble of the main claim. If the cooling liquid is still cold in such a device, the fan should reach its lowest speed, and when the cooling liquid is heated, its maximum speed. In known devices, see for example EP-A-97230, this is achieved by adjustable hydraulic motors or hydraulic pumps or flow control valves. Adjustable hydraulic machines are expensive, with flow control valves there is a constant loss of energy in part of the operating state.
- the hydrostatic drive according to the invention with the characterizing features of the main claim has the advantage that the device is inexpensive and has only very low power dissipation.
- FIG. 1 An embodiment of the invention is shown in the following description and drawing.
- the latter shows in Figure 1 a hydrostatic drive for the fan of an internal combustion engine in a schematic representation, in Figure 2 an aggregate of this device.
- 1 denotes a gear pump, which is driven by an internal combustion engine 2 and sucks pressure medium 3 out of a container 4 via a suction line;
- a suction throttle 5 is arranged in the suction line.
- a pump line 6 is connected to the pump 1, which leads to a gear motor 7, the speed of which can be varied; its adjusting device 20 has been discussed further below.
- a line 8 is connected, which opens into a return line 9, which runs through a heat exchanger 10 and then leads to the container.
- the gear motor 7 drives the fan wheel 11 of the internal combustion engine via a shaft 35.
- the heat exchanger is operatively connected to the cooler 12 of the internal combustion engine.
- a line 13 runs through the cooler 12, into which the thermostat 14 of a thermostatic valve 15 also penetrates.
- the coolant of the internal combustion engine flows in line 13.
- the thermostatic valve 15 has two switch positions I and II.
- a compression spring 16 acts on this counter to the thermostat 14.
- a line 17 is connected to the thermostatic valve 15, starting from a line 18 and leading to the container 4.
- the line 18 is connected on the one hand to the adjusting device 20 of the gear motor 7, and on the other hand to a relief valve 21; the line 18 also opens into the line 9.
- An orifice 22 is arranged between the point of the line 17 into the line 18 and the relief valve 21.
- the relief valve 21 has a pressure actuating device 23, to which a line 24 opens, which starts from the line 6. Contrary to the pressure actuating device 23, a pressure spring 25 acts on the relief valve 21.
- the relief valve 21 has two switching positions I and II.
- a line 27 which opens into the line 18, in front of the adjusting device 20 of the gear motor 7;
- a diaphragm 28 is arranged in line 27.
- a line 29 is also connected to the delivery line 6, in which a pressure relief valve 38 is arranged, the outlet of which also opens into line 9.
- the gear motor 7 is shown somewhat simplified in FIG. It has a housing 30 which is closed on both sides by covers 31, 32. In the interior of the housing, two toothed wheels 33, 34 mesh with one another in external engagement.
- the shaft journals of the gearwheels which are not described in any more detail, are mounted in the covers, but special bearing bodies can also be provided for this, as is known.
- Only the output shaft 35 of the gear motor protrudes beyond the covers 31; the fan wheel 11 is attached to it.
- an intermediate space 39 is formed, in which a pressurizable (controlled) sealing plate 36 is arranged with axial play. This corresponds to the symbolically illustrated adjusting device 20 according to FIG. 1.
- a bore 37 penetrates through the cover 32, to which the line 18 is connected.
- the pump 1 conveys pressure medium to the gear motor 7.
- a control oil flow flows through the lines 27, 18 and the orifices 28, 22 arranged there and via the relief valve 21, which is now in its switching position I, in the Line 9 and on to the container. Since the temperature of the coolant is still low, it is Thermostatic valve 15 in its switching position I. But this also means that the pressure in bore 37 of the gear motor (which is connected to line 18) is low, so that the sealing plate 36 is not pressed against the gear side surfaces. This means that the pressure medium fed to the gear motor 7 largely flows directly between the lifted sealing plate and the gear side surfaces from the pressure side to the outlet side (by-pass). As a result, the output shaft 35 rotates only slowly, and with it the fan wheel 11 as well. The gear motor has reached its minimum speed and starts up easily.
- the relief valve 21 is switched into its blocking position II by the pressure also rising in the line 24.
- the thermostat valve 25 When the coolant heats up, the thermostat valve 25 is gradually adjusted to its switching position II by the thermostat 14. This means that less pressure medium flows to the return 17 via the lines 6, 27, 18, so that the pressure in the line 18 increases and thus also in the bore 37. Now the sealing plate 36 becomes more and more with the thermostatic valve 15 closing further pressed against the gear side surfaces, so that less and less pressure medium can flow along the gear side surfaces in the by-pass from the pressure side to the outlet side of the gear motor. This increases the speed of the gears and thus the shaft 35. When the correct coolant temperature is reached, the thermostatic valve 15 is completely closed, and the sealing plate 36 is now pressed with such an excess force on the gear side surfaces that no pressure medium at all from the pressure side can flow along the sealing plate to the outlet side. The fan wheel 11 has thus also reached its maximum speed, and this means maximum cooling capacity.
