Definitions
- the present invention relates to an oil pump for an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Gear pumps are essentially linearly dependent on the speed at which they are used Gear pumps are driven. Since the drive is generally right over the internal combustion engine itself takes place, the delivery rate is therefore essentially proportional to the speed of the internal combustion engine. The for the operation of the However, the amount of oil required by the internal combustion engine is not linear with the speed dependent. This means that in some speed ranges, specifically at low speeds, there is a risk of insufficient oil supply, while in other speed ranges a relatively large amount over Pressure relief valves must be shut off.
- An oil pump is known from FR 498 749 A, which has two pairs of gearwheels, the first pair of gears supplying essential machine parts with oil, while the second pair of gears supplies less important oil consumers. This makes it possible to supply essential components with oil ensure unfavorable conditions, but it does not affect the amount of oil pumped possible. The problems described above are therefore too unsolved in this known device.
- the object of the present invention is to provide an oil pump as described in the introduction Art in such a way that these disadvantages are avoided.
- the object of the present invention is the energy requirement for driving an oil pump to reduce overall efficiency of internal combustion engines to increase. According to the invention, these tasks solved by the features of claim 1.
- the solution according to the invention is designed such that with a relatively low oil requirement only one pair of gears takes over the actual promotion. At maximum Oil requirement, all gear pairs are used in parallel to each other for delivery.
- any idle losses can be prevented as far as possible by that each pair of gears has its own suction opening and its own discharge opening is assigned and that a valve is provided to optionally at least to connect a suction opening with the associated discharge opening.
- the or the idle gear pair (s) is / are in circulation and essentially operated without pressure so that cooling and lubrication is guaranteed, however, with the exception of friction losses, no drive torque for the movement the gears is required.
- a control valve is provided to the individual gear pairs optionally supply with oil, and that the oil pressure in the exhaust line is used as the control pressure for this switching valve.
- an electronic control device is provided is to apply oil to the individual gear pairs.
- Oil pumps can be intelligently controlled by engine management become. In this way it is also possible to add any To cover oil needs, for example from a device for changing the Setting angle of a camshaft results.
- the oil pump according to the invention consists of a housing 1 in which two Chambers 2, 3 are provided, which are separated from one another by a partition 4 are.
- a pair of gears consisting of the gears 5a, 5b
- a pair of gears is provided in the second chamber 3 , which consists of the gears 6a, 6b.
- the gears 5a, 6a are attached to a common shaft 7, which also drives the pump serves.
- a first suction opening 8a communicates with the chamber 2, while a second suction opening 9a communicates with the chamber 3.
- a first discharge opening 8b leads away from the chamber 2, while a second Ejection opening 9b leads away from the second chamber 3.
- a switching valve 10 is intended to switch the different operating modes of the oil pump.
- a suction pipe 11 which is in a reservoir 12, such as the Oil pan of an internal combustion engine, not shown, leads, with the first Suction port 8a connected.
- the first discharge opening 8b is provided with a Oil supply line 13, which leads to the components to be lubricated, in connection set.
- the second suction opening 9a and the second discharge opening 9b connected to each other, so that the gear pair 6a, 6b is operated in a short circuit.
- the valve 10 can be controlled in such a way that at low oil pressure, the control valve 10 is in any case in the third position. If a first pressure limit value is exceeded, the switchover to second state, and when this pressure is reached again, can be switched to the third state. Alternatively, however the switching of the valve 10 also take place via the engine management. This has the additional advantage that, for example, during a cold start or in others Operating conditions in which a large oil flow is required, the valve 10 can be brought into the third position. Even if additional oil consumption sources, how certain actuators are switched on, Engine management can already lead to a higher oil pressure Make available.
- FIG. 2 is a possible embodiment of an oil pump according to the invention shown.
- a ring gear 15a and a with this in a housing 1
- Ring gear 15a is provided in meshing gear 15b.
- the gears 15a and 15b are eccentric to each other to be engaged.
- a guide element 16 is provided, the Intake space 17 separates from the discharge space 18. It is assumed that the gears 15a, 15b rotate in the direction of arrow 19.
- FIG. 3 is the oil requirement and the oil flow rate of a known oil pump with a single gear pair and an oil pump according to the present invention the engine speed n plotted.
- the curve 20 corresponds thereby the disproportionately increasing oil requirement of the internal combustion engine.
- the solid line 21 corresponds to the oil flow rate of a known Oil pump.
- the stepped line 22, which is shown broken, corresponds to the Characteristic curve of an oil pump according to the invention. From Fig. 3 it can be seen that the performance of the known oil pump according to the characteristic 21 much faster increases as the oil demand (curve 20). Although in the low speed range there is an area 23 in which the oil flow with the known pump is low, the oil flow at higher speeds is much greater than the actual need.
- the present invention makes it possible to create an oil pump, on the one hand ensures a better supply of the engine with oil, and the other hand has a lower power requirement.
