Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for cutting band-shaped sewing material on a sewing machine, by means of scissors interacting, power-operated knives, with two knife plates, which are each formed with two knife edges and can be pressed against one another on a holder and at the same time are arranged in a mutually oppositely linear manner.
  • Devices for cutting band-shaped sewing material on a sewing machine are known, which are based on the principle of scissors and in which a cutting edge can be pivoted about a fixed axis of rotation. Cutting strips made of materials that are difficult to cut, such as rubber, with the help of such scissors is difficult because of the instability of the pivotable cutting edge, which increases with the distance from the axis of rotation, and is often not possible. This instability generally represents a severe restriction on the securely cut through width of a band-shaped sewing material.
  • the stationary knife plate has a rectangular opening, two cutters being formed by its horizontal lower edge and its horizontal upper edge.
  • the sliding knife plate has an oblique double cutting edge.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a generic device which avoids the disadvantages of the known scissors and by means of which even difficult-to-cut strip materials can be cut.
  • the device according to the invention is characterized in that the two cutter plates each have, at the upper end, viewed in the operating position, a beak-like extension separated from their base part by a trapezoidal incision, with one cutter plate having the inclined lower edge of the beak-like one Approach and the opposite horizontal edge of the trapezoidal incision of this knife plate is each designed as a cutting edge, while the other knife plate each has a cutting edge both on the horizontal upper edge and on the sloping lower edge of its beak-like extension.
  • the double-edged cutter plates which interact with one another in the manner of a "guillotine", permit each cutting movement to be carried out with each relative movement, irrespective of the direction of movement, and thus to double the working speed of the cutting device compared to known, relevant apparatuses. Due to the greatly increased stability of the cutting device, it is also possible to cut bard-shaped sewing material made of material that can be cut and / or with a considerably larger width. By forming two knife edges per knife plate, a double service life of the cutting device can also be achieved, which means a significant advantage in terms of maintenance by sharpening the knife edges.
  • the cutting device according to the invention also represents a space-saving solution with regard to the attachment to a sewing machine.
  • the cutting device shown in FIG. 1 has two cutter plates 1 and 2 with essentially the same size. These are each formed with two knife edges 1.1, 1.2 and 2.1, 2.2 and can be pressed against one another on a holder 3 and, at the same time, are arranged so as to be linearly displaceable in relation to one another (cf. also FIGS. 2 and 3). They have an essentially square shape. Their arrangement on the holder 3 is such that after they are attached to a sewing machine N they assume a vertical position and at the same time are positioned transversely to the material feed, the direction of which is indicated by the arrow B (see FIG. 1).
  • the knife plates 1, 2 also have at their upper end, seen in said operating position, a beak-like attachment 1.3, 2.3, each of which is separated from the base part 1.5, 2.5 by a trapezoidal cut 1.4, 2.4 in the knife plates 1, 2 .
  • the two knife edges 1.1, 1.2 of the one knife plate 1 are formed on the inclined lower edge of its beak-like attachment 1.3 and the horizontal edge thereof opposite the trapezoidal cut 1.4 thereof.
  • the two cutter edges 2.1, 2.2 are located on the horizontal upper and the inclined lower edge of their beak-like attachment 2.3. 2, the cutting edge 1.2 of the cutting tip 1 is covered by the cutting edge 2.1 of the cutting tip 2.
  • the holder 3 of the cutting device is composed of a carrier 3.1 receiving the knife plates 1, 2, a carrier 3.1 fastened to the latter and actuating one of the two knife plates 1, 2, namely the displaceable knife plate 2, and a holding plate 3.3 (cf. . 1) together.
  • Carrier 3.1 and drive 3.2 are anchored in place on the holding plate 3.3 and can be attached to a sewing machine N.
  • a pressure cylinder can expediently be used as the drive 3.2.
  • drives of a different type could also be used.
  • the assignment of the two knife plates 1, 2 to one another is made such that when the movable knife plate 2 is lifted upwards, the cutting edge 2.1 on the horizontal upper edge of its beak-like attachment 2.3 each with the cutting edge 1.1 on the sloping lower edge of the beak-like extension 1.3 of the stationary knife plate 1 and during the downward stroke of the movable knife plate 2 Cutting edge 2.2 on the sloping lower edge of its beak-like attachment 2.3 each interacts with the cutting edge 1.2 on the horizontal edge of the trapezoidal incision 1.4 of the stationary cutter plate 1 (cf. in particular FIGS. 2 and 3).
  • the movable knife plate 2 is illustrated in its lower end position.
  • a nut screw 4 with a resilient washer 4.1 is provided on the surface of the displaceable knife plate 2 facing away from the stationary knife plate 1 (cf. FIG. 2). It interacts to adjust the cutting pressure during the cutting process with one end of a screw bolt 4.2 passing through the two cutter plates 1, 2, the other end of which is displaceably guided in the fixed cutter plate 1 simultaneously with the respective cutting process.
  • FIG 1 also schematically illustrates the presser foot F of an overlocking sewing machine N for holding down the material to be processed and contours of other parts of the same sewing machine-N for the purpose of better understanding the invention.
  • a pneumatic pressure line 6 can be laid particularly advantageously on the side of the fixed knife plate 1 facing away from the displaceable knife plate 2, which has at least one nozzle 6.1 fastened in the vicinity of the trapezoidal cut 1.4 of said knife plate 1 supplied with compressed air.
