Definitions
- the invention relates to a pull anode for a control system in a flat image display device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Control disc arrangement has.
- the control disc arrangement is arranged between a cathode and a fluorescent screen and is used to control the electron current. It consists of sub-assemblies which are formed from two control disks, between which a metal perforated disk is arranged.
- the control discs consist of layers of intersecting metallic conductors. At the intersection of the conductors, there are elliptical holes in the conductors that align with the holes in the perforated disc.
- the conductors and the perforated disk are each connected to one another by glass solder.
- Patent application EP-A-0 311 938 proposes a flat image display device which has a vacuum in the interior and forms the prior art in accordance with Article 54 (3) EPC.
- This has a glass front panel carrying a layer of fluorescent dots on the inside and a metal trough as the back.
- a flat cathode made of a periodic arrangement of heating wires and a control system in front of it.
- the control system consists of a pull anode attached to a frame and provided with a grid of rectangular holes, and two control disks made of layers of intersecting conductors.
- each heating wire supplies several rows of holes in the pulling anode with electrons. For the rows of holes in the pull anode that are not directly opposite the heating wires, this results in very flat electron tracks. From this it follows that the holes and gaps in the subsequent control disks are partially covered from the point of view of the heating wires. This drastically reduces the electron density for these hidden areas. Such a reduction is seen on the screen as a reduced brightness.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a train anode for a control system in a flat image display device which allows a uniform electron density to pass through.
- the flat image display device partially shown in FIG. 1 corresponds to that described in the patent application mentioned at the beginning.
- the flat image display device has a front panel 1 made of glass and a metal tub 3 as the rear side, which has a layer 2 of phosphor dots on its inside.
- a counter electrode 4 In front of a counter electrode 4, the segmentation of which is not shown, there is a flat cathode made of a periodic arrangement of heating wires 5 and in front of this the control system consisting of the pull anode 7 attached to a frame 6 and the two control disks 8 and 9.
- a coordinate system is drawn in to show the spatial assignment.
- the x-axis runs in the row direction of the image formed on the front plate 1
- the y-axis is perpendicular to the x-axis and runs in the column direction of the image formed on the front plate
- the z-axis runs from the cathode to the front plate and is vertical on the plane spanned by the x and y axes.
- the frame 6 carries the train anode 7 on its underside.
- the train anade 7 consists of a metal disc provided with elongated holes 10, which is connected to the frame 6 by glass solder 11, for example.
- the elongated holes 10 extend in the direction of the y-axis over the entire areal cathode and are each 0.1 mm wide.
- the division of this hole structure in the direction of the x-axis is 1.14 mm, which results in a width of the strips 13 remaining between the elongated holes of 1.04 mm.
- the thickness of the pull anode 7 is between 0.05 mm and 0.15 mm.
- the thickness of the pull anode is preferably 0.13 mm.
- the pull anode 7 is fastened in the frame 5 in such a way that it is under slight mechanical tension at the operating temperature, so that the strips 13 do not sag.
- the frame therefore consists of a material with such an expansion coefficient that the pull anode is tensioned after the soldering process due to the expansion differences. In this way, a shift of the strips 13 and thus the elongated holes 10 is avoided during operation.
- the soldering can be carried out, for example, with a crystallized glass solder of the type G017-918 from Schott at a temperature of about 430 ° C.
- the distance between the pull anode 7 and the control disc 8 and between the control discs 8 and 9 is 0.03 mm to 0.15 mm. A distance of 0.07 mm is preferably used.
- the pull anode and the control disks are adjusted to one another such that the centers of the elongated holes 10 in the pull anode 7 are aligned with the centers of the holes in the control disk 8 and the centers of the holes in the conductors of the control disk 9.
- Fig. 2 represents a section through the control system along the line II-II in Fig. 1.
- the electron tracks 12 are partially shown by the electrodes sucked off by the heating wire 5 by the positive potential lying on the pull anode 7.
- the electron tracks 12 are shown to run in a straight line, although in reality they are parabolic. Directly opposite the heating wire 5, the electron tracks hit the pull anode 7 almost perpendicularly. The further away the area to be supplied by this heating wire lies on the pull anode, the shallower the electron tracks hit the pull anode. It can be seen that by designing the pull anode 7 with elongated holes 10 there is no reduction in the electron density in the direction of the elongated holes.
- the design of the pull anode 7 with the elongated holes 10 significantly increases the transparency of the control system in the vertical direction of the flat image display device compared to that from the patent application EP-A-0 311 938.
- the total transparency of the tax system is known to result from the multiplication of the transparencies of the individual control panes.
- 3 shows a section through a control system according to the abovementioned patent application.
- the pull anode is not provided with elongated holes, but rather has rows of individual holes.
- This increase in the transparency of the control system thus leads, in addition to the improvement in the uniformity of the electron density and thus the brightness, along the column direction of the image formed on the front plate of the image display device, to an increase in the overall brightness of the image display device.
Description
- Aus dem Aufsatz "Design, Fabrication, and Performance of a Flat Tube Display" von W.C.
- Fig. 1
- ein TeiL der flachen Bildwiedergabevorrichtung in einer perspektivischen Darstellung;
- Fig. 2
