Definitions
- the invention relates to a self-supporting box structure of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1, in particular for the transport of perishable goods (food, fruit, vegetables or the like) by a commercial vehicle, which can be equipped with or without a cooling unit.
- Known box structures have a frame which is clad with insulating walls in order to provide an adequate seal against heat and moisture.
- Box walls made of layered insulating material are also used, which are composed of a core plate made of polyurethane and an outer and inner sheathing.
- the latter jacket layers can be made of steel, aluminum, wood or the like. be.
- the thickness of the core plate and the cladding layers is determined by the size and payload of the box or container.
- reinforcements made of steel or the like are fundamentally. provided (ribs, struts, plates, inserts, etc.).
- the disadvantage is the high empty weight of a known box body with a corresponding payload or size of the container.
- the metallic reinforcements and / or the frame form "thermal bridges" which fundamentally impair the insulation characteristics of the box. If the outer or inner cladding layer is destroyed at any point, water can penetrate into the polyurethane core, which affects the wall in the long term.
- the object of the invention is to provide a box structure of the type mentioned which, in a simple structure, in particular has a low dead weight with sufficiently high static strength and good insulation characteristics.
- the essence of the invention is the creation of a closed box, the prefabricated walls (including the bottom wall) of which are designed in a self-supporting manner in a sandwich construction, in particular by means of two-component adhesives being press-bonded walls. The connections between the adjacent walls are also made by press bonding using two-component adhesive.
- Each box wall has a prefabricated PVC core plate with an inner coating and an outer coating made of fiberglass or glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin, the aforementioned layers being press-bonded to one another in a vacuum press.
- the outer wall of the outer coating and the inner wall of the inner coating can additionally be covered with a closed protective layer made of a gelatin coating ("gel coat") or from a sheet of aluminum or stainless steel or inox steel.
- the closed protective layer ensures in particular a water seal and a food-friendly transport of the goods inside the box.
- the choice of material for the individual layers as well as the thickness and size are determined by the load capacity of the vehicle and the intended use of the insulated container.
- the core of the sandwich which consists of foam sheets based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) with closed cells
- PVC polyvinyl chloride
- the PVC core only has because of its closed cell structure a low water absorption when the outer skin of the "sandwich” is damaged and is not changed by the water (in contrast to other known sandwich panels based on polyurethane).
- the PVC core together with the vacuum-pressed neighboring layers made of fiberglass create a stiffness that additional reinforcements, as in the prior art, can in principle be omitted. This results in a strong reduction in the empty weight of the box structure (30 to 40% less) and the "thermal bridges" available according to the prior art are eliminated, which is accompanied by an improvement in the insulation characteristics.
- an outer frame of the box can be omitted, since the individual self-supporting prefabricated walls are simply glued to one another at their connection points by means of two-component glue, and inside and outside angle profiles can also be provided on the edges or corners of the joined walls.
- Inner and outer angle profiles are made of an aluminum alloy or fiberglass and are also glued using two-component adhesive. In this way, the individual parts can not only be easily assembled into a box in an exact angular arrangement, but the angles also increase the stability of the overall arrangement without any significant increase in the empty weight of the box.
- blind hole recesses are milled into the inner skin of the wall at a suitable point, which are preferably carried out using a round milling cutter.
- thermoplastic or thermosetting or metallic inserts are placed in a form-fitting manner, which are screwed to the inside of the hanging devices, ceiling hooks, side wall bars, consoles and the like, to which the perishable goods to be transported can be hung or otherwise attached.
- An insert with two insert plugs and a base plate is expediently designed in a twin construction, the base plate additionally being able to be glued to the inner skin of the wall.
- the twin design creates stable anchoring points for hanging in relatively small milled out areas of the wall, especially on the top wall and on the side walls inside the box.
- the inserts can have openings even in the area of the base plate and blind holes in the area of the insert plugs. Nevertheless, the overall rigidity of the arrangement and the anchor strength of the load suspension are practically not affected.
- doors are expediently provided, which are structured in a sandwich construction according to the type of the individual walls.
- inserts are positively received in the PVC core in the base plate structured according to the invention; the inserts are in particular made of thermoplastic or thermosetting material or metal and are completely enclosed by the fiberglass outer coating of the base plate.
- a box structure structured according to the invention corresponds to the ATP regulations with regard to the conditions for the transport of dry freight, fresh goods and frozen goods. Due to the low empty weight of the box, transportation is extremely economical. The operating cost savings are in the range of 25% compared to conventional box bodies.
- a self-supporting box structure of the type mentioned at the outset is known from GB-A-899 180.
- the known box structure has no base plate, which is constructed in the manner of the side walls.
- the known bottom wall is not self-supporting and is supported on a frame, the entire box structure being additionally braced or braced around the circumference.
- a box structure with a closed box 1 made of insulating material in a layered construction is shown, or the like for the transport of perishable goods, food, meat. serves on the street.
- the box 1 is fixed on the bed of a transport vehicle (not shown).
- the box body can be an integral part of the commercial vehicle or a detachable container.
- the closed box 1 in turn consists of a top wall 3, two opposite side walls 4, an end wall 5 or front wall, based on the direction of travel F of the transport vehicle, and a rear rear wall 6 and a floor 7.
- Each wall (3 to 6) comprises a prefabricated core plate (8) based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC foam) with closed cells, as well as an inner coating 9 and an outer coating 10 made of fiberglass or glass fiber reinforced synthetic resin.
- PVC foam polyvinyl chloride
- PVC core plate 8 and inner coating 9 and outer coating 10 are positively bonded to one another with a bicomponent adhesive in a vacuum press.
- a closed protective layer 12 or 11 is also provided, namely as a coating in the form of a gel coating or in the form of a sheet of aluminum or stainless steel.
- the upper and lower inner longitudinal edges of the side walls 4 are cut out at an angle by milling in order to be able to receive the top wall 3 and the bottom 7 at an angle (cf. FIG. 3).
- top wall 3 and the side walls 4 are also recessed from the inside of the box, namely by means of a round milling cutter to create milled recesses 15 in which thermoplastic or thermosetting inserts 16 are glued in a form-fitting manner, which are shown in greater detail in FIG. 6 to 9 are illustrated.
- the inserts 16 are used to fasten interior hanging devices (ceiling hooks 17, fastening rods 18, brackets 19, or the like). Goods to be transported can be hung or otherwise fastened to the aforementioned hanging devices.
- the inserts 16 according to FIGS. 3 and 6 to 9 are preferably in a twin construction with a common base plate 25 executed, which is integrally connected to two spaced-apart insert plugs 26.
- the base plate 25 has openings 27.
- blind holes 28 are also provided in the insert plugs (blind holes).
- the bottom 7 is in principle self-supporting structured in the same way as the remaining box walls 3 to 6, but additionally has bottom pieces 21 made of thermoplastic or thermosetting or metallic material, with the aid of which the box can be attached to a loading area of a transport vehicle.
- the bottom 7 also has a glued plywood layer 22 between the inner coating 9 and the PVC core plate 8.
- Longer side walls 4 or end walls 5 or rear walls 6 have PVC core plates 8, which are butt-jointed from several individual panels 20 and are glued in particular by means of two-component adhesive (see FIGS. 4 and 5).
- Inner angle profiles 13 and outer angle profiles 14 are used to increase the stability and to establish the rectangularity of the box.
- Inner angle profiles 13 and outer angle profiles 14 are glued at the connection points of the walls by means of two-component adhesive. They preferably consist of straight angular rails made of an aluminum alloy or of fiberglass or glass fiber reinforced plastic.
- a side door 23 and two rear doors 24 are provided for accessibility to the inside of the box, which are constructed in a sandwich construction in the manner of the individual walls of the box and are pivotably hinged to the box structure by suitable hinges 29.
- a self-supporting box structure is created by the invention, which has highly stable, lightweight individual walls without additional known stiffening means. This results in good insulation properties and a low empty box weight.
