[Also in Group XXXII] A method of forming a vehicle body comprises building up on the surface of a former of suitable shape, a first skin of glass fibres, e.g. a chopped strand mat, and synthetic resin, e.g. a cold-curing polyester, applying to the still tacky surface a substantially continuous layer of lower density such as foamed polyvinylchloride, polystyrene, or polyurethane, cork, expanded ebonite or rubber, balsa, or a honeycomb structure of glass fibre, cotton or metal foil, applying a coat of synthetic resin to the said layer and building up a second skin thereon from layers of synthetic resin and glass fibres and according to whether the mould is a male or female first or last applying a coating of synthetic resin containing an abrasion-resisting filler in quantities between 20 and 50% by weight. The abrasion-resisting filler may be powdered aluminium oxide granite or slate dust.
