Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing self-adhesive labels with a label film coated on the back with adhesive and with an adhesive-repellent carrier film, the action of the adhesive on the label film being locally canceled by a means.
- the invention also relates to a self-adhesive label with an adhesive-repellent carrier film and an adhesive-coated label film with a means which locally covers the adhesive layer and cancels the effect of the adhesive.
- film is to be understood to mean a sheet-like material in general.
- the film can be made of paper or plastic or any other material.
- the label film (upper material web) is locally printed on the backside coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive with a means by which the adhesive effect of the pressure-sensitive adhesive is completely or partially eliminated.
- the known method it is thus possible to produce a self-adhesive label which has two areas with different pressure-sensitive adhesive effects, namely a first, unprinted area in which the pressure-sensitive adhesive effect fully develops and a second, printed area area in which the pressure-sensitive adhesive effect is eliminated or reduced.
- the degree of reduction in the pressure-sensitive adhesive effect in the second region depends on the chemical composition and the processing of the agent covering the adhesive layer and can therefore only be chosen uniformly for the label.
- the agent for canceling the adhesive effect of the pressure sensitive adhesive is printed on the back of the adhesive material coated upper material web.
- This process is complex and can only be carried out for certain printing processes. In particular, it cannot be carried out, for example, for screen printing or gravure printing.
- the invention has for its object to provide a method for producing self-adhesive labels, the adhesive force can be controlled in virtually any number of areas. This object is achieved in the method mentioned at the outset by giving the means for canceling the action of the adhesive at least in a partial area of the label the shape of a fine pattern of strips or dots.
- a self-adhesive label according to the invention is characterized in that the agent has the shape of a fine stripe or dot pattern at least in a partial area of the label.
- the stripe patterns provided according to the invention do not have to consist of straight stripes. Rather, wavy lines and zigzag lines can also be used to produce the stripe pattern.
- the intended dot pattern also does not have to consist of dots with a round boundary line, rather all dot shapes, for example quadrilaterals, hexagons or the like, are conceivable.
- the adhesive strength of the label can be practically arbitrarily controlled by the choice of the print pattern in which the means for canceling the effect of the adhesive is arranged. If an appropriate adhesive is used, areas can be created which are highly permanent and which can only be separated from paper or cardboard by destroying the substrate.
- the stripes or points of the pattern and their mutual distances are less than two millimeters.
- particularly advantageous results have been achieved with stripe or dot patterns between 0.5 and 1 mm. Even finer patterns deliver good results when controlling the adhesive strength.
- the agent for canceling the effect of the adhesive is printed on the adhesive-repellent carrier film and then the label film is laminated onto it. After delamination or peeling off of the label from the carrier film, the agent is transferred to the adhesive-coated side of the label film without changing its structure. With this procedure it is possible to use practically all known printing processes. The process is easy to control because the printing tool does not come into contact with the adhesive-coated side and is therefore not at risk of contamination.
- the printing is carried out in several stages.
- multi-color printing can also be applied, which is particularly important for transparent label films.
- a self-adhesive label 1 produced by the method according to the invention can be seen in FIG.
- the self-adhesive label has three areas of different adhesive strength, namely a highly permanent adhesive area 2, an area of medium adhesive strength 3 and a non-adhesive area 4.
- Area 4 is coated with printing ink, area 2 is completely free of printing ink.
- area 3 there is a stripe pattern to reduce the adhesive force to an intermediate value.
- the strips printed with the means for canceling the adhesive force have a width of 0.6 mm and a mutual distance of 0.4 mm.
- the hatching in the drawing is not to scale, but only to be understood symbolically.
- the label shown in FIG. 1 can be used, for example, as a closure flap for a container.
- a pattern corresponding to the distribution of the printing ink in the areas 2, 3 and 4 was printed on the siliconized carrier film and then the adhesive-coated label film was laminated onto it. After the grid has been punched out and peeled off and after the label has been lifted off the carrier film, the printing ink printed on the carrier film is taken over in the pattern described from the adhesive-coated side of the label film.
- FIG. 2 shows a further self-adhesive label 5 with a highly permanent adhesive area 2, an area with reduced adhesive strength 3 and a non-adhesive area 4.
- FIG. 3 shows the label 5 attached to a container 6.
- the container 6 has a perforation 8 on its upper surface.
- the label 5 can be attached to the container 6 in the course of automatic processing, the highly permanent area 2 ensures a permanent connection between the label and the top of the container 6. If the label is attached to the non-adhesive grip tab 4, the area 3 easily detaches from its base. Due to the special shape of the highly permanent adhesive area, which partially covers the area 6a bounded by the perforation, the perforation 8 on the top of the container 6 is torn open by lifting the label, so that an opening is created in the container 6. The process of lifting the label 5 is ended, however, when the area 3 is completely lifted off with reduced adhesive strength, since the highly permanent area 2 prevents further separation of the label and the container. After use, the container can be easily closed again in reverse order.
- Figure 4 illustrates in perspective the opening process described above.
- the perforation 8 of the container 6 was torn open by lifting the label 5.
- the tongue-shaped area 6a surrounded by the perforation is lifted off together with the label, so that an opening is created in the container.
- Figure 5 shows another embodiment of a self-adhesive label with areas of different adhesive strength.
- the hatched area 3 recognizable in the figure in turn represents an area with reduced adhesive strength, while the area 2 is one with high adhesive strength.
- the carrier film is punched out in such a way that when the label is pulled off its carrier film, a part 10 sticks to the label as shown in FIG.
- the part 10 of the carrier film taken along completely covers the highly permanent adhesive region 2.
- the punched-out part 10 of the carrier film projects beyond the edge of the label 9.
- the label 9 thus constructed can be temporarily attached to an object or a product.
- the label 9 can be easily removed from the goods, since the highly permanent area 2 is covered by the punched-out portion 10 of the carrier film.
- the part of the carrier film 10 protruding over the edge of the label 9 is helpful, since there the carrier film lie easily gripped and the label can be lifted.
- the user then has the option of affixing the label with a highly permanent adhesive, for which he only has to pull off the punched-out part 10 of the siliconized carrier film from the label. This clears the highly permanent adhesive area 2, so that a secure connection between the label 9 and an object, which can be, for example, a documentation file, is ensured.

Abstract
Description
- Figur 4: Das Anwendungsbeispiel gemäß Figur 3 in perspektivischer Darstellung.
