Definitions
- the invention relates to a coaxial cigarette of the type specified in the preamble of claim 1.
- coaxial smokable articles in particular coaxial cigars or cigarettes with an inner core which is surrounded by a jacket made of tobacco material.
- the basic principle of such a coaxial cigarette is known for example from FR-PS 998556, the inner core consisting of a tobacco of lower quality, which is surrounded by an annular jacket made of tobacco of high quality. This allows savings to be made in terms of the cost of the tobacco materials used.
- a coaxial cigarette of the type specified is known from DE-A-3602846 and has an inner core made of a residue-free glowing Material, a covering for the inner core, an outer casing coaxially surrounding the inner core made of a tobacco and / or non-tobacco material, and a casing for the outer casing.
- the particular advantage of this coaxial cigarette is that it can be manufactured using customary manufacturing techniques on specially modified rod machines.
- US-A-3356094 discloses a coaxial cigarette with an inner hollow tube and an aerosol chamber with a narrow outlet; however, the production of this coaxial cigarette is very complex and therefore expensive; In addition, the different components are separated from each other, so that there is an unusual smoking pattern.
- a coaxial cigarette is known from DE-A-2620335, which has a strand part with an inner core and an outer jacket.
- a filter part is attached to the strand part, in which partitions are provided.
- the interior, which is enclosed by the partitions within the filter part, is arranged in connection with the inner core, but is additionally connected to the outer jacket.
- the outer jacket is filled with a tobacco material, while the inner core of the known coaxial cigarette is hollow.
- the invention has for its object to provide a coaxial cigarette of the type specified, in which the unwanted smoke components can be almost completely intercepted.
- the advantages achieved by the invention are based on the fact that combustion products of the strand part in the ring-shaped outer jacket and separated from the inner core during a train in the train phase are guided axially through the coaxial cigarette and absorbed by a special coaxial filter;
- This coaxial filter treats the peripheral smoke flowing through its filter jacket and the central smoke flowing through its filter core in very different ways, which are matched to the two types of smoke, so that there is an optimal filter effect.
- the gas phase of the smoke is reduced by diffusion and ventilation, while the particle phase is reduced by ventilation and is simultaneously absorbed by a high-performance filter segment.
- Both the tobacco rod and the coaxial filter of this coaxial cigarette can be produced using existing technologies which are known in principle from the prior art, so that only corresponding modifications to the current machines are required.
- the smoke produced and absorbed by the smoker is acceptable in terms of taste and contains only a little condensate, which is also largely free of the usual combustion products; the smoking process itself is not changed, so that the "smoking experience" for the smoker can also be maintained.
- the coaxial cigarette which is generally indicated by reference number 10, has a strand part 12, to which a coaxial filter 15 is attached with the usual manufacturing techniques.
- the strand part 12 contains an inner core 14 with a sheath 16 and an outer core 18 with a sheath 20.
- the coaxial filter 15 consists of a filter core 22 with a casing 24 and a filter jacket 26 with a casing 28.
- the coaxial filter 15 is ventilated, as will be explained later; the ventilation means is indicated as a line of punctiform ventilation openings 30 which extend over the circumference of the coaxial filter 15.
- the inner core 14 of the strand part 12 has a diameter of 3 to 5 mm, while the diameter of the outer jacket 18 of the strand part 12 is a maximum of 8 mm, so that this strand part 12 corresponds approximately to the usual diameter of "normal" cigarettes.
- the inner core 14 consists of a porous carrier substance with a high absorption capacity for the combination of flavoring and / or flavoring substances, also known as "casing", which are generally present in solvents and contain sugar, humectants and similar substances; it is also spoken of “sauce”; this "casing" is added to the tobacco material before cutting.
- casing a porous carrier substance with a high absorption capacity for the combination of flavoring and / or flavoring substances
- the absorption capacity for "casing" should be greater than 3% by weight.
- a preferred carrier is tobacco material, e.g. Cut tobacco, tobacco foil or extruded tobacco; however, thermally decomposable non-tobacco materials can also be used. It is important that the carrier substance of the inner core 14 burns up largely without residue.
- the inner core 14 contains tobacco material, it must have a high aroma content and / or a high condensate potential and a low carbon monoxide potential.
- Cigarette paper is particularly suitable as wrapping 16, and expediently a cigarette paper that consists at least partially of tobacco raw material.
- the sheath 16 of the inner core 14 can also be produced from tobacco films or other natural material films.
- the outer jacket 18 of the strand part 12 consists of tobacco materials and / or non-tobacco materials with a low condensate potential and with a high filling capacity with a packing density of at most 220 mg / ml.
- the inner casing 16 of the inner core 14 and the outer casing 20 of the outer casing 18 of the strand part 12 are treated with generally different glow salts and glow salt concentrations as additives, either uniformly over their entire area or as a glow salt pattern; a specific glow salt or a mixture of several different glow salts can be used in each case.
- the amount of glow salt for the inner casing 16 or outer casing 20 must be adjusted so that a total glow rate results for the inner core 14 and outer casing 18, which ensures a sufficient uniform mass conversion for the inner core 14 and outer casing 18 of the strand part 12. In particular, it must be ruled out that cavities or similar defects arise due to locally high glow speeds.
- the tensile resistance of the inner core 14 of the strand part 12 must be lower than the tensile resistance of the outer jacket 18 of the tobacco rod 12.
- the outer diameter of the coaxial filter 15 corresponds to the outer diameter of the strand part 12, that is, is a maximum of 8 mm.
- the diameter of the filter core 22 corresponds approximately to the diameter of the inner core 14 of the strand part, but should, according to a preferred embodiment, be approximately 0.1 to 1 mm smaller than this, as indicated in the figure, in order in this way to rule out smoke from the Outer jacket 18 can get into the filter core 22.
- the coaxial filter 15 is ventilated and has a degree of ventilation of 50 to 80%.
- a highly porous wrapping and highly porous covering paper with an additional, laser-perforated ventilation zone 30 is used as the outer covering 28, at least through the covering paper. If, as shown, the ventilation zone is formed by a line of punctiform ventilation openings 30 running in the circumferential direction, the line of the openings 30 should have a distance of at least 10 mm from the mouth end of the coaxial filter 15.
- the length of the coaxial filter 15 should be in the range of 21 to 30 mm. Accordingly, the ventilation zone 30 would be at least 9 mm away from the end face of the coaxial filter 15 facing the strand part 12, the aim being to keep the smallest possible distance from the end face on the mouth side.
- the cover 28 of the filter jacket 26 is porous and consists of a cover and a covering paper.
- the topping paper should have a porosity of more than 5000 CU and the wrapping paper should have a porosity of more than 10000 CU.
- Suitable materials for the two filter zones are the customary filter materials as are currently used in the cigarette industry.
- the filter core 22 can consist of porous carrier materials with a large specific surface area, in particular foamed, extruded, sintered, pressed or molded materials such as, for example, coal, tobacco or non-tobacco materials.
- the filter jacket 26 again consists of the usual filter materials.
- the carrier materials for the filter core 22 should contain additives, namely once the usual additives, such as triacetin, flavor or aroma substances and / or largely neutral taste substances with a high transfer coefficient into the core smoke.
- the filter core 22 is surrounded by an air-impermeable covering 24, which can consist, for example, of non-porous filter paper.
- the ratio of the specific tensile resistances of the filter jacket 26 to that of the filter core 22 is “measured closed”, that is to say without taking ventilation into account, at least 1.4.
- the peripheral filter jacket 26, based on the peripheral smoke flow, together with the ventilation via the ventilation openings 30, has a degree of reduction of at least 90%; and the filter core 22 has a filter efficiency of at most 40%, based on the core smoke.
- combustion products thus arise both in the inner core 14 and in the outer jacket 18 of the strand part 12.
- the combustion products essentially only come from the outer jacket 18 of the strand part 12, so that almost all combustion products guided on separate tracks, passed through the coaxial filter 15 and can thereby be influenced in a targeted manner so that there is little condensate without impairing the taste, which is largely free of the usual combustion products.
