Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing a multilayer, bituminous sealing membrane, in particular of self-adhesive membranes.
- Bituminous waterproofing membranes especially for waterproofing roofs, have been known for decades. They consist of an optionally impregnated insert, which is generally coated on both sides with a bituminous mass.
- the surfaces of the webs can be sprinkled with mineral substances or laminated with foils as protection against the sun's rays and sticking when rolled up.
- the sheets described are mostly glued over the entire surface with hot bitumen.
- bitumen sheet (1) coated on one or both sides with covering compositions is heated to a temperature between 140 and 220 ° C. after the complete cooling on its surface to be coated, but at least briefly above its softening point, immediately afterwards the 140 to 220 ° C hot, bituminous or non-bituminous adhesive (2) on the heat activated Surface is applied, and the finished web, optionally after applying a protective film (3), is cooled and wound up.
- the adhesive layer is applied to the impregnated insert.
- the impregnating compound emerging from the insert must be heat-activated or, if the surface is laminated with a film made of a thermoplastic, it must be heated at least to above its melting point. If the adhesive layer z. B. with bitumen sheets coated on both sides with a covering compound on this coating, the covering compound must be heat activated. It does not matter whether the surface to be coated is powdered with talc or sprinkled with sand. In the case of a surface laminated with a closed plastic film, this must be heated as described above. Bitumen sheets are also known which are provided on the underside with a perforated plastic film, the uncovered surfaces of the covering compound being sprinkled with sand.
- the surface must be heated at least to the softening point of the higher melting component. Because of the low thermal conductivity of the bitumen and the plastic film that may be used, it is possible to melt the surface of the bitumen sheet to a depth of only a few 1/100 mm without reducing the strength and dimensional stability of the sheet.
- the bituminous covering compound can be modified with fillers, elastomers and / or thermoplastics. At its interface, it melts inseparably with the adhesive, whereby even adhering sand is completely covered. The adhesion in the interface exceeds the cohesion in the adhesive layer in the sealing membrane produced by the method according to the invention.
- the adhesive can consist of a blown bitumen or of a hard distillation bitumen, which preferably contains no fillers. If necessary, it is laminated with a thin PE film.
- the adhesive In the case of waterproofing membranes with cold self-adhesive properties, the adhesive consists of a bitumen modified with elastomers and tackifying resins. It is laminated with a removable release film or release paper.
- the invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing.
- the Fig. Shows a device that connects to the cooling device of a conventional roofing membrane system.
- the underside of bitumen sheet 1 is heated with infrared rays 4 to a surface temperature of 165 ° C.
- a hot air blower or direct flames can be used instead of the heater.
- the web is guided over the application roller 5, where an approximately 2 mm thick layer of the 165 ° C. hot adhesive 2 from the covering compound pan 6 onto the Underside of the web is applied.
- the coated web is passed through the covering mill 7 in order to calibrate the web thickness and to obtain a smooth surface.
- the web is then deflected and passes through a turning chair 8, where in the curvature of the first roller the protective film 3 is brought into contact with the adhesive layer and rolled on by the unwinding bracket 9.
- the protective film can be a thinner plastic film that connects non-detachably to the adhesive layer, or a peelable, e.g. B. siliconized release film.
- the sealing membrane is then cooled in a conventional manner and fed to the winding apparatus via a hanging device. This part of the device is not shown in the figure, since it corresponds to the corresponding part of the usual roofing membrane system.

Abstract
