Definitions
- the invention relates to a wristwatch with a housing composed of a central part and a base, the upper side of which is closed by a watch glass and has a movement holding ring supporting the clockwork, and with means for tightly fastening the base to the central part.
- Such wristwatches are known in many embodiments and are described for example in CH-PS 331 896, CH-A 11529/69 and CH-A 6663/71.
- the bottom is either screwed into the middle part with the insertion of a sealing ring or is connected to the middle part by a special fastening element, for example by a suitably arranged spring, with at least one special sealing ring inserted between the bottom and middle part to achieve the tightness is.
- the movement holder ring is made of metal in the known wristwatches.
- the invention has for its object to simplify the construction of a wristwatch of the type described in the preamble of claim 1 and to design it in such a way that the housing can easily be assembled from its individual parts and that a special sealing ring between the middle part and the bottom is omitted.
- the main advantage of the wristwatch according to the invention is that the middle part and bottom of the housing are easily connected to one another by saving the need for a separate sealing ring with the aid of the ring flange of the plastic retaining ring.
- the bottom has an annular projection formed on its inner surface, with which the ring flange of the movement holding ring is clamped and compressed between the bottom and the middle part, and also an edge which projects radially outward beyond the ring-shaped projection and which defines the ring flange of the movement holding ring and at least one part engages under the underside of the middle part.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention is constructed in such a way that the housing provided with watch glass and clockwork forms a prefabricated structural unit without band connections and an outer ring provided with band connections is provided, into which the housing is inserted from below, and that the housing and outer ring are elastically compressible Ring, preferably by an O-ring, releasably connected to each other, which is seated in at least one, on at least one of the adjacent peripheral surfaces of the housing and outer ring annular groove. Only one annular groove is expediently provided on the outer circumference of the central part.
- a completely prefabricated housing can be inserted into and removed from an outer ring to be selected by the customer without great effort; in particular, this is also possible carry out a repair service directly at the point of sale by simply replacing the housing with the defective clockwork while maintaining the same outer ring with a new prefabricated housing.
- the outer circumference of the middle part and the inner circumference of the outer ring are expediently stepped in that the upper circumferential region of both parts is offset radially inward relative to the lower circumferential region, the wall section forming the step between the upper and lower circumferential regions, at least in the case of the outer ring, preferably being conical.
- the ring groove with the elastic ring is located in the upper circumferential area of the middle part. This ensures that when the housing is inserted into the outer ring, the elastic ring protruding from its groove is only compressed when it hits the conical wall section of the outer ring and then only slides a small distance under pressure on the outer ring until both parts are completely pushed into one another. Likewise, the ring compressed in the assembled state of both parts is already released when the housing is pulled out of the outer ring when it passes through the conical wall section mentioned. In this way, the insertion and removal of the housing are made easier.
- the wristwatch consists of a sealed housing 1, which is composed of a middle part 2 and a base 3 and is closed on its top by a watch glass 4, and an outer ring 5, which has an outer middle part with molded band connectors 6 forms.
- a movement holding ring 7 is inserted, which consists of an approximately resilient plastic and has an annular shoulder 10 on the inner circumference, on which the movement 8 is supported with its upper flange.
- the dial 9 rests on the top of the clockwork 8 and the movement retaining ring 7.
- the plant holding ring 7 has on its edge a molded, axially downwardly directed ring flange 11, which serves as a holding element and seal for the bottom 3.
- the bottom 3 has an integrally formed annular projection 13.
- the ring flange 11 is clamped between the outer circumference of this projection 13 and the inner circumference of the middle part 2, whereby it is compressed due to its approximately elastic plastic material and thus a tight press fit for the Bottom 3 forms.
- the bottom 3 has an edge 14 which projects radially outward from the annular projection 13 and which engages over the annular flange 11 and at least part of the underside of the middle part 2.
- a notch 15 provided on the bottom edge 14 serves to insert a tool in order to detach the bottom 3 from the middle part 2.
- the work holding ring 7 resting on the middle part 2 abuts with its upper edge against an annular shoulder 12 provided on the inner circumference of the middle part 2, so that it is fixed axially between this annular shoulder 12 and the edge 14 of the base 3.
- An annular projection 17 formed by an upper conical edge section 16 on the inner circumference of the middle part 2 engages over the edge of the dial 9 and in this way fixes its position.
- the watch glass 4 is pressed with the interposition of a sealing ring 18 into a recess 19 provided on the upper edge of the middle part 2 and has a thickness which exceeds the axial height of the recess 19 or the sealing ring 18 by approximately twice.
- the housing 1 described has a simple construction and is sealed watertight by the sealing ring 18 holding the glass 4 on the one hand and the ring flange 11 belonging to the work retaining ring 7, the plastic material of which has a certain elasticity, a special sealing ring for the bottom 3 being omitted.
- the glass 4 is pressed from above into the recess 19 of the middle part 2 provided with the sealing ring 18, while the dial 9, the movement 8 and the movement retaining ring 7 are inserted into the middle part 2 from below and then the bottom 3 is pressed.
- the pipe 27 for the pointer actuating shaft which is indicated in FIG. 2 only by its dash-dotted central axis, passes through an opening 24 in the central part 2 and projects with its inner end into a corresponding opening 23 in the movement holding ring 7.
- a wristwatch according to the invention can only consist of the above-described, sealed housing 1, in which case the usual band connections are molded or attached to the middle part 2.
- a wristwatch according to the invention can also consist on the one hand of the housing 1 described above, which forms a prefabricated structural unit, and of the outer ring 5 provided with band connections 6.
- the prefabricated housing 1 can be combined as desired with an outer ring 5 of any appearance, simply by inserting it from below into the outer ring 5, which has a downwardly open recess 25 for the tube 27 of the pointer actuating shaft, on which the dot-dash line is shown indicated crown 26 sits.
- This ring 20 is seated in an annular groove 21 provided in the outer circumference of the middle part 2 and has a radial thickness which is so much greater than the depth of the annular groove 21 that it is adequately compressed in the assembled state of the watch.
- the annular groove 21 has a rectangular cross section. There is a small space between the middle part 2 and the outer ring 5. Since the inner circumference of the outer ring 5 has no groove and is smooth, a smaller force is required to push the housing 1 out of the outer ring 5 than if the ring 20 were also seated with its outer region in a groove of the outer ring from which it was squeezed out should.
- the outer ring 5 has at the upper edge a radially inwardly directed shoulder 22, which overlaps the upper edge of the middle part 2, in this way forms an axial stop for this middle part and the peripheral edge of the watch glass 4 above the recess 19 or the sealing ring 18 according to Art surrounding a false bezel with play.
- FIG. 3 which shows a women's wristwatch with a smaller diameter than the men's wristwatch according to FIGS. 1 and 2, is in principle constructed in exactly the same way as the first embodiment.
- the outer circumference of the middle part 2 and the inner circumference of the outer ring 5 are of stepped construction, the upper circumferential regions 2a and 5a of both parts being offset radially inward relative to the lower circumferential regions 2b and 5b, and with each of these the step forming conical wall section 2c and 5c are connected.
- the inner circumference of the outer ring 5 has a diameter on its lower circumferential area which is preferably at least as large as the diameter of the elastic ring 20 seated in its annular groove 21 in the non-compressed state. This will make this Ring 20 is only compressed when the housing is inserted into the outer ring 5 when it hits the conical wall section 5c of the outer ring 5, so that its remaining displacement path, which is necessary until the housing is fully inserted, in which it slides under pressure on the outer ring 5, only is still short. In the same way, the ring 20 is already released when the housing is removed from the outer ring 5 if it has been moved past the conical wall section 5c.
- the described stepped design of the adjacent peripheral surfaces of the middle part 2 and the outer ring 5 therefore facilitates the assembly and separation of the two parts.
- the step between the upper and lower circumferential areas of the housing and the outer ring need not be conical, but can also be at right angles or, if appropriate, rounded.
- an opening 3a is shown in the bottom 3, which is used for inserting a battery for the electronic clockwork 8 and can be sealed in a known manner by a closure piece, not shown.
- the attachment of the bottom 3 with its annular projection 13 through the ring flange 11 of the plastic retaining ring 7 and the attachment of the watch glass 4 are the same as in the example according to FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the retaining ring 7 is somewhat thinner in the axial direction than in the first embodiment and does not extend to the top of the clockwork 8, so that the dial 9, the edge of which is in turn overlapped by an annular projection on the inner circumference of the central part, rests only on the clockwork 8.
- the band connections 6 formed on the outer ring 5 have a shape other than in the first embodiment.
- the described design of the wristwatch gives the dealer the opportunity to keep completely prefabricated housing 1 on the one hand and on the other hand outer rings 5 of different design and with different decorative appearance, in particular different false bezels, and to put together a specific wristwatch quickly and easily at the customer's request. It is also possible to carry out a quick repair service directly at the point of sale or at the dealer by replacing the entire housing in the outer ring.
- the ring 20 can optionally also be accommodated in an annular groove provided on the inner circumference of the outer ring 5.
- opposing grooves can also be provided on both facing peripheral surfaces of the housing and outer ring, into which the ring 20 engages.
- the groove on the outer circumference of the housing is preferably so deep that it receives most of the elastic ring 20, while the groove on the inner circumference of the outer ring is only relatively flat, so that the ring 20 can easily slide out of this groove when the housing is pulled out .
- the ring 20 need not be an O-ring, it can also be any other elastically compressible ring.
- the steps on the outer circumference of the housing 1 and on the inner circumference of the outer ring 5 can form the mutual axial stops which define the axial position of the housing 1 in the outer ring 5 in the assembled state of the watch.
- the upper, radially inwardly projecting shoulder 22 of the outer ring 5 can of course be omitted and the watch glass 4 can be correspondingly thinner, so that its upper side is at least approximately at the level of the upper edge of the housing 1 and the outer ring 5.
- the housing i.e. middle part 2, bottom 3, movement retaining ring 7 with ring flange 11 and watch glass 8, and, if present, the outer ring 5 are preferably round, but can also have a different shape and, for example, be oval or polygonal, in particular rectangular or square .

Abstract
