Definitions

  • the invention relates to a metering device for liquids for use in washing machines, dishwashers or the like.
  • a storage container from which a metered quantity can be conveyed via a pump into a metering container provided with a controllable sequence to a washing container and can be adjusted in the latter.
  • the metered amount can be set independently of the delivery rate of the pump. Tolerances, fluctuations in performance and leakage losses from the pump can therefore no more affect the accuracy of the metered quantity, just like friction losses due to the viscosity of the liquid.
  • the metered quantity can be adjusted via a displacement body which is arranged in the metering container with respect to its position. Liquid that is too much pumped in relation to the set metering quantity flows back into the reservoir.
  • the liquid is conveyed into the metering container via a piston, which is partially of a hollow cylindrical shape. During the conveyance, liquid gets into the hollow cylindrical area and from there into the dosing container via a cross hole.
  • a metering device is also known (DE-U-7 141 158), in which the liquid rises in the metering container as a result of the hydrostatic pressure in the storage container when the inflow line is open until the opening of a ventilation tube arranged in the metering container in a height-adjustable manner is reached.
  • the storage container below the dosing container, which can lead to problems regarding the division of space within the washing machine or dishwasher.
  • a dosing device is also widely known (US Pat. No. 3,021,702), in which the liquid is conveyed from the storage container into the dosing container by the compressed air generated by a compressed air pump.
  • the invention has for its object to design a generic metering device so that the structure is simplified and thus the manufacturing cost and susceptibility to failure is reduced.
  • this object is achieved in that the metered quantity is adjustable via an overflow pipe which is arranged in the metering container in a height-adjustable manner and is connected to the storage container, and the sequence is controlled via a water flow which can be supplied to the washing container.
  • the adjustment of the dosing quantity via an overflow pipe arranged in a height-adjustable manner in the dosing container leads in a simple manner to a continuous and exact adjustment of the dosing quantity.
  • the switch-on time of the pump corresponds to the maximum possible flow into the dosing tank during each dosing. Depending on the dosing quantity set, too much liquid delivered flows back through the overflow pipe into the reservoir.
  • the dosing quantity is therefore independent of tolerances, fluctuations in performance or leakage losses in the pump and the viscosity of the liquid.
  • the fact that the process is controlled by a water flow that can be fed to the washing container simplifies the construction of the metering device and the required control effort.
  • this opens Overflow pipe in a filler pipe of the storage container. This arrangement means that a separate return line is not required for the return of the amount of liquid exceeding the set dosage from the metering container into the storage container.
  • the overflow pipe has at least one overflow opening in its tubular casing and protrudes from the metering container with the open end opposite the filler pipe. Because the end protruding from the metering container is open, the overflow pipe and thus also the storage container connected to it are vented in a simple manner. The metered amount can be adjusted in a simple manner by changing the height of the overflow opening.
  • the overflow pipe can be sealed in a simple manner with respect to the metering container and its height can be adjusted via its end protruding from the metering container.
  • the end of the overflow pipe protruding from the metering container has a toothed rack which is connected to a handle for adjusting the height of the overflow opening via a gearwheel.
  • the metered quantity can thus be set in a simple manner and satisfying the accuracy requirements.
  • the outlet has an injector arranged in the lower region of the metering container and acted upon by the water flow, in the manner of a water jet pump.
  • the metered amount can thus be easily conveyed into the wash tank with the water flow, the water being mixed well with the liquid. Residual water remaining in the area of the injector after dosing is prevented also that liquid settles and leads to sticking.
  • a valve is arranged between the metering container and the injector, which valve is opened by the pressure of the water flow. This arrangement prevents residual water remaining in the area of the injector from being conveyed via the metering container into the storage container and changing the concentration of the liquid there.
  • the storage container can be filled via a funnel which can be connected to the filler pipe.
  • the storage container is thus easy to fill without additional equipment.
  • the filler pipe can be connected to a filler neck which can be pulled out in the machine for filling the storage container.
  • the reservoir can be filled by pouring liquid into the filler neck when it is pulled out and connected to the filler pipe. After filling, the filler neck can be pushed into the machine, so that it is protected on the one hand and on the other hand can not lead to any hindrance.
  • the filler neck is arranged in the region of a bend in the filler pipe into which the overflow pipe opens. Due to the enlarged cross-section of the filler pipe in the area of the elbow, the liquid can flow well from the filler neck into the filler pipe when filling. There is also good ventilation of the filler pipe and the storage container.
  • the filler pipe can be pulled out on the machine arranged detergent box for filling the storage container connectable.
  • the reservoir can thus be filled particularly easily without additional parts being required for this.
  • a storage container 1 is arranged in the lower region of an incompletely shown washing machine, generally designated by 2.
  • a pump 3 is connected to the lower area of the storage container 1, the outlet of which is connected to a delivery line 4. This opens into a metering container 5, which is fastened above the storage container 1 adjacent to a detergent dispenser drawer 6 drawn in broken lines in a manner not shown in detail.
  • an overflow pipe 10 is arranged in a height-adjustable manner in the metering container 5 and sealed against it by seals 8, 9.
  • the overflow pipe 10 is adjusted in height, the distance 11 changes between the bottom 12 of the metering container 5 and an overflow opening 13 machined into the tubular jacket of the overflow pipe 10.
  • the height of the overflow opening 13 thus determines the maximum achievable liquid level in the metering container 5 and thus the metered quantity.
  • a plurality of overflow openings distributed over the circumference of the overflow pipe 10 can be provided at the same height.
  • the end of the overflow pipe 10 led through the bottom 12 opens into a filler pipe 14 of the storage container 1.
  • the end of the overflow pipe which also protrudes from the metering container 5 in the opposite direction is also open, so that the overflow pipe 10 and via the filler pipe 14 also the supply container 1 are aerated is.
  • a rack 15 is attached in a manner not shown, which cooperates with a gear 16.
  • the gearwheel 16 is connected in a rotationally fixed manner to a turning handle 18 accessible from the outside via an openable flap 17 in the front side 7. By rotating the handle 18, the overflow pipe 10 is adjustable in height via the gear 16 and the rack 15, so that the metered amount in the dosing container 5 can be adjusted via the handle 18.
  • the area of the metering container 5 opposite the overflow pipe 10 has an outlet opening 19 adjacent to the base 12 which can be closed by a valve body 20.
  • the outlet opening 19 enables the metering container 5 to be connected to an injector 21 which is designed in the manner of a water jet pump and is connected to a water line 22 via which water can be fed to a washing container (not shown).
  • the supply of water via the water line 22 can be controlled by a program control device (not shown) via a solenoid valve 23.
  • a hollow cylinder 25 is displaceable and tightly connected via a seal 26.
  • the hollow cylinder 25 acted upon by a water flow in the lines 22 and 24 when the magnetic valve 23 is open acts on a side of a lever 28 loaded by a spring 27, on the other side of which the valve body 20 is fastened.
  • the hollow cylinder 25 is moved against the force of the spring 27, so that the valve body 20 opens the outlet opening 19.
  • the lever 28 returns to a position due to the force of the spring 27, in which the outlet 19 is closed by the valve body 20. Residual water then remaining in the area of the injector 21 prevents the liquid from settling and sticking.
  • the storage container 1 can be filled via a filler neck 29 which can be pulled out from the front side 7. As shown in FIG. 1, the filler neck 29 can be pulled out of the front side 7 against a stop (not shown) until it essentially clears the opening cross section of the filler pipe 14. In the pulled-out position, liquid can be fed via a channel 30 of the filler neck 29 to the filler pipe 14 and thus to the storage container 1.
  • the reservoir 1 is associated with a fill level monitor, not shown, which can be switched on by pulling out the filler neck 29 and indicates via optical and / or acoustic display means that the reservoir 1 is filled and the filling therefore has to be ended.
  • the filler neck 29 is arranged in the region of a bend 31 of the filler pipe 14 with an enlarged cross section.
  • the second embodiment shown in dash-dotted lines in FIG. 1 differs from the first only in that, instead of the arrangement of a filler neck 29, a branch 32 of the filler pipe 14 is extended into the upper region of the washing machine 2, the open end of the branch 32 being open Flap 17 is also a funnel 33 shown in dash-dotted lines can be used.
  • the hopper 1 can also be conveniently filled with liquid from commercially available containers via the funnel 33.
  • the third embodiment shown incompletely in FIG. 2 differs from the first and second embodiments only in that the filler pipe 14 is connected to the detergent dispenser 6 when it is pulled out of the front 7 so far that its stop 34 on a wall 35 the washing machine 2 is present. In this position of the detergent dispenser 6, liquid filled into it runs through the filler pipe 14 into the storage container 1, so that in this case the storage container 1 can be easily filled without additional construction.
  • the pump 3 conveys liquid from the storage container 1 via the delivery line 4 into the dosing container 5.
  • the pump 3 conveys in each case so long that the delivery rate of the maximum adjustable dosing amount corresponds.
  • the continuously possible setting of the dosing quantity is carried out as executed via the height adjustment of the overflow opening 13 in the overflow pipe 10. If a smaller than the maximum dosing amount is set, then the portion of the conveyed liquid which exceeds the set dosing amount flows back through the overflow opening 13, the overflow pipe 10 and the filler pipe 14 into the storage container 1.
  • the dosing quantity present in the dosing container 5, the filling height of which corresponds to the distance 11, is taken into the washing container by the water then flowing in the water line 22 when the solenoid valve 23 is open according to the program.
  • the liquid is mixed well with the water.
  • the outlet opening 19 is first opened by the water pressure, so that the metered quantity can flow into the injector 21, from where it is carried along by the flowing water. Any water remaining in the area of the injector 21 after the solenoid valve has been closed has the effect that liquid does not stick or settle.
