A stay mechanism according to claim 1 or 2, characterised in that the two arms (24, 26) of the actuating arm (23) are disposed at an obtuse angle to one another, the articulation (27) between the second arm (26) and the connecting link (28) being disposed, with the panel closed (Fig. 7 and 9), together with the articulation (14) of the stay arm (10) on the panel (3) on a plane substantially parallel to the fixed frame (1).
4. A stay mechanism according to any of claims 1-3, characterised in that the stationary abutment (30) on the fixed frame (1) has the shape of an arcuate claw (31) whose exit and entry aperture (32) is nearer the plane of the fixed frame (1) than is its closed end part (33).
5. A stay mechanism according to any of claims 1-4, characterised in that the actuating arm (23) is biased closingly by a biasing force, more particularly a spring.
6. A stay mechanism according to any of claims 1-5, characterised in that the catch recess (22) extends at an inclination to the guide slot (20) and its angle of inclination coincides at least substantially with an arc whose centre coincides with the articulation (18) of the additional arm (17) on the stay arm (10) disposed in the parallel offset position (Figs. 8 and 10) relatively to the panel (3).
7. A stay mechanism according to any of claims 1-6, characterised in that the catch recess (22) has its end directed (21) away from the fixed frame (1) on the panel (3).
8. A stay mechanism according to any of claims 1-7, characterised in that those ends of the additional arms (17) of both stay mechanisms (10, 16) which are near the panel are so coupled together, for example, by way of a push rod (34), as to move in synchronism with one another (Fig. 8).
9. A stay mechanism according to any of claims 1-7, characterised by: two trolleys (12) whose respective stay arm (10) and additional arm (17) and the associated lug (21) on the panel side are in laterally inverted relationship to one another; and a differential coupling transmission (35) via which those ends (19) of the two additional arms (17) which are guided on the panel (3) for pivoting can be so interconnected as to be moved positively in opposite directions.
10. A stay mechanism according to claim 9, char- acterlsed in that the differential transmission (35) comprises two thrust rods (36a, 36b) which a reversing transmission (37) maintains in continuous driving engagement with one another (Figs. 9 and 10).
