Definitions

  • the invention relates to a protective suit against sound waves, as it is known for example - but with a different mechanism of action - from GB-A-989970.
  • Sound waves acting on the periphery of a human being are also transmitted to the inside of the body, in particular at noise levels above the noise pain limit.
  • the circulation and the internal organs can be so burdened by sound that triggers circulatory disorders, nausea and other vegetative reactions.
  • soundproof suits made of thickened material, such as leather or textile fabric.
  • the material thickness of the protective suits is approx. 1 to 2 mm.
  • soundproof vests that only cover the torso, or body bandages that act as kidney protection.
  • Some protective suits have double material thicknesses in the kidney area.
  • the basis weight of the known protective materials is approximately 1.5 kg / m 2 .
  • High noise levels up to 130 dB (A) occur e.g. in production halls with high-speed impact presses or for repairs and test runs of jet engines.
  • the spectral distribution of the broadband noise occurring extends over the entire listening area.
  • the insulating effect of the known protective suits or protective parts only starts above 1000 Hz, so that all the underlying sound frequencies are transmitted to the periphery of the body. They therefore do not offer sufficient protection against sound waves.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of providing a protective suit in which the transmission of sound to the periphery of the body and into the inside of the body is reduced to a minimum while the overall weight and thickness of the suit are still acceptable.
  • This object is achieved according to the invention in that at least two flexible soundproofing layers are provided, one of which has a weighting layer and the other of which has a cushioning layer.
  • these protective layers it is achieved that the protective effect of the suit according to the invention already starts at substantially lower frequencies than 1000 Hz, as a result of which the sound pressure level penetrated into the body is significantly reduced, especially in the medium and high frequency range which is important from a medical point of view.
  • Fig. 1 shows the cross section of the structure of a protective suit with flexible protective layers.
  • the base material 2 which can consist, for example, of leather or a heavy textile fabric, a weighting layer 3 and a cushion layer 4 adjoining it are arranged.
  • the sound waves to be insulated hit the outside 5 of the base material 2.
  • the weighting layer 3 consists of plate-shaped weighting elements 6 that are spaced apart, preferably arranged in a grid, and is e.g. made of elastic plastic material. However, it can also be in the form of a strip or as a continuous flexible film.
  • the weight per unit area of the weighting layer 3 should be between 4 and 6 kg / m2 so that the overall weight of the suit does not become too large.
  • the weighting layer 3 can be glued to the base material 2 or quilted by means of a thin, light fabric 7.
  • the cushion layer 4 located above the weighting layer 3 is shown in the exemplary embodiment in the form of a cushion as a quilted air cushion or cotton cushion, which is either held by a light inner lining 8 or is adhesively bonded to the fabric 7 or the weighting layer 3.
  • a cushion layer can also be in the form of strips or sheets and, for example, be made of foam.
  • the thickness of the cushion layer should be at least 15 mm, but due to sufficient mobility with such a protective suit, a thickness of 30 mm should not be exceeded.
  • the weight of the cushion layer 4 can be neglected with regard to the weighting layer 3.
  • Curve A shows the insulating effect of the soundproofing suit according to the invention in comparison to a commercially available protective suit.
  • Curve A relates to a leather overall without additional protective layers. An insulation effect only sets here from a frequency of 1000 Hz on.
  • Curve B shows the insulation behavior of a protective suit according to the invention with two soundproofing layers, specifically with a weighting layer 3 with a weight per unit area of 5 kg / m 2 and a 30 mm thick cushion layer 4. The insulation effect starts here after 160 Hz and improves at higher frequencies up to 25 dB.
  • protective suit according to the invention With the protective suit according to the invention, a significantly better insulating effect of sound waves on the human body periphery is achieved and a higher protective effect is achieved in occupational medicine terms.
  • protective suits according to the invention which still give an acceptable overall weight with the given sizes of the protective layers and allow sufficient mobility, care should be taken that the openings for the legs and especially for the arms are well closed by a collar.
