Definitions
- the invention relates to a warhead with a first and a second shaped charge lying axially one behind the other, the second shaped charge being ignitable after a delay time after the first shaped charge.
- Hollow charge bullets use their detonating explosive charge to create an elongated, high-energy spike that can also penetrate armor with high strength.
- a spacer is known from DE-PS 32 43 568 or DE-OS 33 02 307, for example, which has an impact contact both at its tip and on the shoulder of its shaped charge jacket. This construction is a satisfactory solution for a storey with only one shaped charge.
- a combined shaped charge projectile which contains two shaped charges lying axially one behind the other of approximately the same size as well as a protective hood between the two shaped charges. Both shaped charges each have their own ignition device, a time delay device being required to control the second shaped charge when the first shaped charge is triggered. This requires a certain amount of technical equipment and also an electrical connection from the first to the second ignition device, which must also be unfavorably installed in the spike formation space of the second shaped charge.
- the ignition devices for the first shaped charge arranged in the spacer of the warhead and the second shaped charge are independent of one another, the one for the first shaped charge by means of an impact switch mounted in the tip of the spacer and that of the second shaped charge is ignitable by means of a shoulder contact on the warhead mantle; Between the first and second shaped charge there is a barrier repelling the reaction of the detonation products and a predetermined breaking point in the warhead mantle.
- the following essential advantages can be achieved, particularly with regard to the various embodiments of targets to be combated: on the one hand, greater functional reliability is achieved because, due to the mutually independent ignition contacts, in every conceivable type of target impact and even if one of the two hollow charge systems fails at least one shaped charge is triggered. On the other hand, by using a barrier and a predetermined breaking point, the detonation products from the pre-charge have already largely disappeared from the prick formation space of the main charge in the case of a normal ignition sequence.
- the warhead 1 is shaped such that it has a spacer A as a continuation of its thicker main body, pointing in the direction of action of its shaped charges.
- This spacer A contains a shaped charge HL1, the ignition and safety device SE1, which - seen in the effective direction - is arranged behind the shaped charge HL1, can be triggered by an impact switch K1 attached in the tip of the spacer A.
- this impact switch K1 can be designed, for example, as a simple switching contact, as a piezo element or as a constant familiar from the prior art.
- the spacer A further contains a barrier B and a predetermined breaking point SB in the area of its neck, which prevent the hollow charge HL2 from being lined up if the shaped charge HL1 is triggered.
- the second shaped charge HL2 which, together with its ignition and securing device SE2, lies axially behind the shaped charge HL2, is to be initiated completely independently of the shaped charge HL1, which is generally triggered first, by means of its own opening contact K2.
- this impact contact K2 has been implemented as a simplest type of impact switch integrated in the shoulder S of the warhead shell. Other switch designs are not excluded within the scope of this invention.
- the contact K1 triggers the shaped charge HL1 via the ignition and safety device SE1.
- This shaped charge now drills a hole in the armor or, in the case of active armor, triggers it at the point of impact.
- the spacer A is equipped in such a way that, by means of the barrier B, it avoids a reaction of its detonation pressure on the subsequent shaped charge HL2 and keeps it free of the second shaped charge HL2 by breaking off at the predetermined breaking point SB. Because of the embodiment according to the invention, this spike formation space SR is not disturbed by any electrical or other connections.
- the second shaped charge HL2 is only triggered when the target hits the second impact contact K2 through the ignition and safety device SE2.
- the desired time difference between the firings of the two shaped charges is achieved solely by the path difference between the impact contacts K1 and K2.
- time delay circuits can be omitted in the ignition and fuse device SE2.
- the particular advantage of the warhead according to the invention can be seen in the fact that it requires little effort to ignite its shaped charges and that its effectiveness is increased at the same time.
