Claims (4)

1. A device for pivoting and holding in three stable positions a pivotable shutter (3) for closing an opening (2), one of the edges of which is provided with a movable transverse member (9) engaged into the gutter of a fixed pivot mounting transverse member (1 b) belonging to the frame (1) of the opening (2), in which the movable transverse member (9) is held in a position of bearing against a limb (6) of said gutter along at least one longitudinal pivot mounting surface (10a) by an elastic member (16) disposed within the gutter between the movable transverse member (9) and the other edge (7) of the gutter, characterised in that the elastic member is of variable orientation so that in the first position of the shutter (3) its effect is directed above said pivot mounting surface (10a) and in the second position of the shutter (3) its effect is directed below said surface (10a), the movable transverse member (9) comprising a pair of substantially parallel pivot mounting surfaces (10a, 11 a) such that said pivot mounting surface (10a) is formed either by the upper surface (10a) of said pair when the shutter is in its first position or by the lower surface (11 a) of said pair when the shutter is in its second position, the other surface (11a, 10a) then being moved away from said limb (6), the two surfaces (10a, 11a) being simultaneously in contact with the limb (6) in the third intermediate position of the shutter (3), the effect of the elastic member (16) then being directed between the two surfaces (10a, 11 a).

A device according to claim 1 characterised in that said surfaces (10a, 11 a) are carried by external longitudinal cylindrical beads (10, 11) in one piece with the movable transverse member (9) while the limb (6) of the fixed transverse member comprises grooves (12, 13) for receiving said beads (10, 11).

A device according to claim 2 characterised in that said limb (6) being parallel to the plane of the opening, the plane (14) containing the axes of the two beads (10, 11) is inclined with respect to the plane of the shutter at an angle (A) corresponding to the pivotal angle of the shutter in the intermediate position.
4. A device according to any one of the preceding claims characterised in that it comprises an upper transverse member (1 a) of the frame of the opening forming a support abutment for the shutter (3) in its first position and a lower bar (8) in overhanging relationship with the gutter to form a support abutment for the shutter (3) in its second position.
