Definitions

  • tube packs for chocolate bars are usually formed by wrapping the bars, which are delivered at a spacing from one another, by means of a continuous wrapping film to form a longitudinal sealing seam. After the longitudinal seal seam has been laid flat on the underside of the package, the tube formed from the film is pressed, sealed and separated between two adjacent bars. The packs therefore have a fin seam on both ends, which is also referred to as a pinch fold.
  • This known packaging can be manufactured cheaply and with high cadence. It requires simple sealing jaws and low sealing temperatures, since the sealing seam is only one layer. In this known packaging, however, the wide fins are annoying. They give the packaging a "cheap" appearance and are therefore hardly used for packaging high-quality products. In addition, these large Finns take up a lot of space, which is disadvantageous in multipacks, sales racks and vending machines.

Description

In known methods according to the preamble of claim 1, tube packs for chocolate bars are usually formed by wrapping the bars, which are delivered at a spacing from one another, by means of a continuous wrapping film to form a longitudinal sealing seam. After the longitudinal seal seam has been laid flat on the underside of the package, the tube formed from the film is pressed, sealed and separated between two adjacent bars. The packs therefore have a fin seam on both ends, which is also referred to as a pinch fold. This known packaging can be manufactured cheaply and with high cadence.

Packaging that presents better is therefore produced with so-called gusset folds on the front. An example of such a gusset fold is explained in GB-A 679 052. A gusset is formed on the end faces of two opposite narrow sides before the hose is flattened. After flattening and sealing, the front seam does not protrude the width of the packaged product. It can therefore be folded down onto the front of the pack and glued on. In this pack, the front side seam is partly single-layer, partly double-layer due to the gusset. It is therefore difficult to get tight. Higher sealing temperatures must be used so that the seal is guaranteed even in the double-layer area. As a result, the sealing temperature in the single-layer area is too high and correspondingly longer cooling times must be expected. These packs cannot therefore be produced with the high cadence of the packs mentioned above.

Another hose pack with gusset fold is known from CH-A 254 978. Here, too, the sealing seam on the end faces is partly single-layer, partly double-layered, so that the same problems with tightness and manufacturing cadence occur as with GB-A 679 052. In addition, with this pack, the flap of the end-face closure is placed on the large surface of the panel opposite the longitudinal sealing seam folded. Both large areas of the board are therefore hardly usable for advertising purposes, so that this pack usually has to be provided with a second envelope, which is expensive.

The object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a tubular bag pack and a pack for piece goods, which ensures a tight seal at the end closures and enables high manufacturing cadences, the pack should be aesthetically pleasing. This object is achieved with the characterizing features of claims 1 and 6.

Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawing. The figures represent one end of the pack in perspective.
  • Fig. 1 to 6 consecutive folding operations of the front closure of a pack, and
  • 7 and 8 a variant of the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 6.

To produce the pack shown, the piece goods, in particular chocolate bars, which are delivered at a mutual distance from one another, are first enveloped with a continuous, heat-sealable film 1. The longitudinal edges of the film are sealed together to form a longitudinal sealing seam 2 and the longitudinal sealing seam 2 is folded flat onto the underside of the package. The tube formed in this way is squeezed between adjacent bars, sealed to form a fin 3, and the individual packs are separated from one another. These operations correspond to the known method according to the preamble of claim 1 and lead to an end closure according to FIG. 1 in the known tubular bag packs.

In contrast to this known end closure in the method according to the invention, the fin 3 is pressed and sealed until it lies tight against the end face of the bolt (FIG. 2), the inner edge 4 of the fin 3 resting against the end face of the bolt (FIG. 2). The fin 3 is then folded up along its inner edge 4 parallel to the end face 5 of the pack (FIG. 3) such that the longitudinal sealing seam 2 is on the outside of the fin 3. The laterally beyond the side surfaces 6 protruding side edges 7 are in two steps by one along the side edges 8 extending fold 9 by 180 ° folded inwardly (Fig. 4 and 5). Finally, the outer edge 11 of the fin 3 projecting over the upper side 10 is folded down along the upper end edge 12 of the package by 180 ° and fastened on the end face 5 by a hot glue dab 13 (FIG. 6). Instead of fixing with hot glue dots, heat sealing is also an option.

In the case of relatively thin, tabular piece goods, for example chocolate bars, the outer edge 11 of the fin 3 folded down in the last folding operation can protrude beyond the underside 14 of the package. In the case shown in the variant according to FIGS. 7 and 8, the part of the outer edge 11 protruding over the underside 14 is folded by 90 ° along the lower end edge 15 and fastened to the underside 14 of the package by hot glue dots 13.

  • - die Stirnseitensiegelnaht verläuft durchgehend einschichtig und kann deshalb sehr dicht und mit hoher Kadenz hergestellt werden;
  • - stirnseitig hat der Verschluß eine ununterbrochene Außenfläche, die für Werbezwecke wirksam ausgenützt werden kann und sehr gut präsentiert;
The method shown and the package produced with it have considerable advantages over the known methods and packages:
  • - The front sealing seam runs continuously single-layered and can therefore be made very dense and with high cadence;
  • - On the front, the closure has an uninterrupted outer surface that can be used effectively for advertising purposes and is very well presented;
  • - The last folded down outer edge 11 of the fin 3 largely covers any folding inaccuracies. The packaging appearance is therefore little affected by manufacturing inaccuracies.
  • - Compartment packs, sales racks and vending machines save a lot of space compared to conventional pinch folding. In addition, the packs can be stacked much better and therefore present better.
  • - The folded fins 3 act in multipacks and sales racks as shock absorbers and package reinforcement, so that the packaged products are protected.
