Definitions
- the present invention relates to a process for desensitizing to exfoliating corrosion of AI alloys containing Li by treatment of under-income, leading simultaneously to high mechanical strengths and good resistance to damage.
- the 2024 alloy (according to the designation of the Aluminum Association) used in the most stressed parts in fatigue-traction, offers the best compromise between mechanical strength and fatigue resistance; however, this alloy is used in the T4 or T3 state, that is to say matured at room temperature and therefore does not exhibit good resistance to flaky corrosion as soon as the thickness of the product exceeds a few millimeters. .
- the tempering is carried out at a temperature less than or equal to 155 ° C.
- the alloy thus treated has a sensitivity to the EXCO test less than or equal to B, which corresponds to good behavior in a natural atmosphere, a mechanical resistance at least comparable to 2024 (T3 or T4 state) and good resistance to damage.
- the invention applies in particular to aluminum-lithium alloys containing by weight%: Li 1 to 4; Cu 0 to 5; Mg 0 to 7; Zr 0 to 0.2; Cr 0 to 0.4; Mn 0 to 1; Fe ⁇ 0.5; If ⁇ 0.5; other elements such as Hf, Nb, V, W, Ta, Ti, each less than 0.5%, remain aluminum and usual impurities.
- alloys can be obtained by metallurgy of the ingot or by rapid solidification process (powder metallurgy, "splat cooling", rapid solidification of ribbons, etc.).
- the invention applies to any form of product (forged, stamped, rolled, spun, drawn), as well as to molded alloys, not undergoing any wrinkling.
- FIG. 1 representing the domain of the lengths of fatigue cracks as a function of the number of cycles undergone.
- alloys or heat treatments conform to the designations of the Aluminum Association and the percentages of alloy elements are percentages by weight.
- a larget, section 100 x 13 of alloy 2024 T351 is taken as reference.
- the spun larvae samples were machined at half their thickness over half their width, in order to present both a rough surface finish and a machined surface.
- KcA apparent toughness
- Figure 1 gives the plagues of the curves: length of the cracks (2a) as a function of the number of cycles (N), for the directions included between the long direction and the transverse direction of the sheet for these two alloys: we note that the two alloys are roughly equivalent, with a tendency to superiority of 2091 compared to 2024 for high numbers of cycles and less dispersion of results for the first.
- An alloy of composition 2.7 Li; 1.0 Mg; 1.3 Cu; 0.11 Zr; 0.04 Fe; 0.03 Si; aluminum remainder is cast in ⁇ 200 mm billets, homogenized 24 h at 535 ° C, peeled at 140 mm, spun into section 100 x 13 mm 2 at 430 ° C, dissolved in 1 h 30 at 535 ° C, soaked in cold water, pulled by 2% and tempered according to the conditions given in Table IV below.

Description
-
- Un alliage de composition 2,0 Li; 3,2 Cu; 0,3 Mg; 0,11 Zr; 0,04 Fe; 0,04 Si; reste aluminium, a été coulé en billette ϕ 200, homogénéisé 12 h à 510°C puis 24 h 520°C, écroûté à ϕ 140 mm, filé à 420°C en un larget section 100 x 13 mm2, mis en solution 1 h 30 à 525°C, trempé à l'eau froide, tractionné à froid de 2% et revenu selon l'invention 48 h à 150°C.
